Kyra Santoro vs Rachel ‘Rocky’ Barnes

BEFORE:
“Upon my own insistence, I’m back in conventional competition,” Kyra smirks to the assembled crowds during the pre-fight press conference. “Not that I’m not starting to enjoy JMD, of course. I just… feel like I still have what it takes to knock girls out, especially if they get in my way.”

The Vixen’s been showing plenty of spice lately, shedding her sweet girl image after getting the hang of smothering some of her competitors out with much goading required. Her opponent tonight is a previous competitor on a VIX card, Rachel Barnes recently joining the Fighting Academy and not looking back herself.

“Santoro’s weak in conventional warfare - we all knew that already. She’s gonna regret taking a break from her JMD duties when I knock her lights out in front of an entire arena.”

Short speeches from either corner as they take the stand and face each other down. Girls are about the same height but Santoro is definitely packing a little more bulk into her Bantamweight frame. Let’s see how each girl will fare once they turn up the heat.

Later, they’re in separate corners, just waiting for the sound of the bell to go. Santoro in bright pink bikini top, dark blue denim hot shorts and white gloves. Rachel is going for a black sports bra for a top, white bikini briefs for bottoms. She’s wearing red gloves as the referee calls for the touch of gloves, and both fighters comply. HERE we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
Ladies start with immediate action, wild swings at each other’s heads once they get in range. Not sure what Barnes is trying to do here, competing with Kyra’s power, and the end result is she gets blasted to the face early on. Before she goes back, she swings a hook in quick succession, drawing a loud grunt from Santoro’s lips in turn. This fresh and early in the game, both girls just want a taste of the action, and they’re certainly getting their fair share of bitter leather shoved into the mouth? Round ends and it’s a close one, with Kyra coming out slightly on top with a late round hook combo that was buried deep into Rachel’s gut before the Fight Acad starlet could retaliate.

ROUND 3:
Barnes has had enough fun and games, back to her defensive strengths as she smashes a long cross straight into Kyra’s face in the first minute. It’s leverage on the Vixen’s aggression to score points in turn. Kyra’s eager to brawl like last time, but instead gets picked off from afar when Barnes refuses to meet her halfway, takes more jabs to her face and chest as the faster brunette leads her about the ring like a matador stringing a bull along. Third minute and Kyra’s already breathing hard, arms all the way up as she defends against more errant jabs from Barnes, who redeems herself in this second round with an impressive wide win.

ROUND 3:
Santoro appears perplexed that her opponent’s repeatedly targeting her head instead of chest becomes a social issue? She wanted this conventional fight, after all, now having some trouble keeping her face from getting tagged by the fast-moving Barnes. The lean and mean fighter uses her training to weave left and right, blast Santoro back through the many holes in her defences. Kyra’s forced to cover up and retreat, especially after that early stinging left-right combo that landed on her lips. Late in the round, Kyra’s hooks are aimed at the head, being the the only deterrent, allowing a smirking Barnes to wind down her offense and reset again at the other end. She’s done enough this time to relax, that’s for sure.

ROUND 4:
Barnes moves in for the kill, some glimmer of hope for the fighter if she can knock the bigger girl down. Santoro leads her backwards, dukes up and gets her arms scarred like last time. But then, Barnes gets loose and careless, remains too fixated on shooting those jabs in that she doesn’t sense the trap that Santoro is about to spring: a left-right combo taken on the tummy, and suddenly, Santoro is springing into action! Right power hook sweeps Barnes across the face, sending her down to one side with a loud HWAAAAH?!? Barnes literally THROWN down to the ground, left sputtering as Santoro scores the first and last KNOCKDOWN of the night! Rachel’s out cold from that one power hook! Customary 10-count is shouted over the poor girl’s head, but rest of Rachel’s body parts remain stationary and above the head, spread-eagled out on canvas! It’s over before the halfway mark!!

Official Decision: Kyra Santoro defeats Rachel Barnes via KO4!

AFTER:
Looks like there’s some truth to Kyra’s claims - the Vixen does look stronger than ever before in this return to traditional competition, knocking Barnes out before she knew what hit her. Santoro celebrating modestly in her corner, letting out more of a sigh of relief at having backed her words up, now having to contend that she can still climb the Bantamweight ladder in the rest of this league.

Barnes on the other hand looks rigid and stiff as she’s revived by the corner medics. Her future in the FCBA once more is thrown into doubt as she continues to accrue this string of losses. Can she ever turn her fortunes around, we wonder?
