Joy Corrigan vs Rose Bertram
(Lioness Club vs FCBA Independent)
(4-1, 4 KO vs 0-1)
Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago

BEFORE: "I'd like to pound this witch somewhere on the beach but I need the PPV attention so here I am!", Joy Corrigan sounds pretty confident she's gonna breeze through fellow swimsuit model Rose Bertram tonight but she's right about making the next step up the contenders' ladder. Boxing on the beach just doesn't provide all the spotlight required to become a true contender and sooner or later you have to show up in the big moment.

Meanwhile Rose Bertram is just happy to be here and taste the big stage. She got knocked out by Kyra Santoro on the VIX testing session back in 2017 and seems more suited to the aforementioned beach boxing genre: "So, when is the next Body Paint card?", she tries to sell her nerves NOT getting the better of her however one can only wonder when will she grace the PPV line-up again so she better makes the Corrigan opportunity count!

Joy Corrigan wears a red bikini set with silver trim & red gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Rose Bertram wears a light blue bikini set with black trim & silver gloves. Blonde hair in loose curls. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Joy wants to make an early statement and jumps into a high-octane attack but Rose steals the script with her above par mobility that makes her opponent look very desperate and ineffective. Joy slices thin air as she struggles to find her range while Rose ducks & weaves to the limit before riding the counter-punching response that enables her to score all the meaningful offense during the opening round. Joy eats a couple of heavy hooks on the mouth that halt her menacing tactics wholesale whereas Rose just keeps firing from mid-range to frustrate the fellow blonde even further. She lands single punches down the stretch but has Corrigan visibly stunned by the ordeal and perhaps the free agent isn't some random tomato can after all? Joy barks in disgust at the bell and demands some answers from coach Claudia Schiffer ASAP!

Rounds 2 & 3:
Back & forth slugging reminds everyone these two girls have had six bouts between them combined. Plenty of effort leads into little success as Rose remains very lively on her feet and seems satisfied simply frustrating the younger blonde into a potentially fatal mistake. Execution revenue is low for Corrigan who tries to nail the mobile rival with a genuine haymaker but for every missed punch she eats two or three on the overhand reply and has Bertram gradually pulling away on the scorecards according to Tess Valmore in the booth. Joy still thinks she can smoke the fellow model with one quick drive but she looks pretty lost out there as Rose locks her down in the center of the ring before pounding some tummy to close the second round. Another midsection attack drags Corrigan onto the ropes late in the third where she has to clinch Bertram outright but the younger blonde still nails her on the liver area and even flicks a quick JMD-like uppercut on the boobs to leave the American fuming in disgust at the bell.

Round 4:
Joy's aggressive tactics finally pays off early in the fourth; she nails Rose with a quick one-two combo on the chin and prevents this bout from going into mid-distance again. Rose struggles to make it count in the vintage phone booth and it's Joy who dishes out the ribcage pounce this time - she bumps Bertram onto the ropes where she beats her for the right-on-right piledriver and slams a left hook on the jaw that bends the Belgian model sideways. Ugh! Rose tries to swing back at her opponent but Corrigan gets there first and tears a small gash on the left cheek before she buries her foe behind a flurry of point-blank range jabs on the double. Ugh! Rose begins to gurgle in pain as her high guard slowly collapses underneath the barrage and she just can't outwork the American for once here which allows Joy to swivel her head back & forth only for the bell to rescue her a few seconds later. Boom! Joy swings one extra punch long after the bell and gets lectured by the ref while some fans believe she should have been docked a point outright!

Rounds 5 & 6:
Rose got bounced around in the fourth and suddenly hits the reeling mode like an inexperienced free agent she actually is. She looked pretty impressive channeling her inner bendy defense beforehand but this is something else as Joy smells blood and pounces on the seemingly rattled Belgian model for the next six minutes. Rose struggles to match the point-blank range intensity and gets picked off like the Lioness Club wanted from the start. The gash on the left cheek isn't helping her cause either and she becomes over-protective on this side which allows Corrigan to score easy punches while the Belgian's resistance wilts with every second. She manages to avoid a real disaster but Joy shifts her attacks downstairs in the sixth which meets even less resistance as Rose gets outmuscled in the clinch and has to accept more heads up slugging. Joy batters her along the ropes and shuts right down before an uppercut double finds both the rack & the chin to leave Bertram hurting at the bell.

Round 7:
Rose no longer owns the superior mobility and spends more time backpedaling away from the American's striking zone but to no real avail as Joy rains punches like skittles now and glues the reeling blonde to the spot. She fakes another aerial swing and Rose bites on it whch allows a crippling harpoon to find the liver area. Ugh! Rose folds forward and bounces off the top of Joy's shoulder before a scything cross on the jaw dumps the Belgian into loud spasms. Another left hook tears up her nostrils and she's as good as knocked stupid on her feet; Corrigan finds another drilling follow up on the nose which SENDS BERTRAM CRASHING DOWN FLAT ON HER BACK moments later!!! Rose was hurt at the end of the previous round already and she makes no visible attempt to fend off the knockdown daze so the ref duly waves the count off at six!!! KO7 Joy Corrigan!!!

AFTER: The Lioness entourage isn't exactly thrilled over this victory as Joy visibly struggled in the opening nine minutes before her aggressive tactics finally paid off. A more experienced and accomplished counter-puncher than Bertram would have broken the American's spirit but there's a reason Joy is brought up slowly after all. "She's not quite ready for big time so please ignore all that buzz on social media. I know Joy wants to brag about being the next best thing but she's got a long way to go and well, maybe we're gonna see her on the beach next?", Claudia Schiffer offers the on-site review and it's hard to argue those words right now.

Official Result: Joy Corrigan def. Rose Bertram KO7.
