TESS VALMORE

I am late getting this up. I, for some reason, wasn’t expecting this to go on Sunday. Don’t ask me why.

It was good to see Ginny Gardner get off to a good start for the year. Last year wasn’t that bad for her, winnng eight of thirteen. She faced Gillies, who had lost three of her last four, but all to good fighters. Gardner was impressive in dismissing Gillies in less than four rounds. Glad to see a blonde lay waste to one of those brunettes. As much as I like Gardner, it is becoming clear the will end up as an average fighter.

Billie Ellish won her second fight with a big win over Hayley Williams. I had Williams with good lead going into the fifth. In the fifth, Ellish landed one big punch and Williams was toast. I suspect Electra doesn’t like fighters with losing records. Williams had better start winning or I think she is not long for the Dollhouse.

Mr V. was absolutely right when he said I would be impressed with Minka Kelly’s performance. Winnick has lost three of her last five but she has faced some pretty good opponents, the last two being Lilly and Lovato. Winnick’s hopes of a title shot are now done for the foreseeable future.

I couldn’t have been happier to see Roberts shut Lavigne’s big mouth. It was a great fight and Roberts win is a boost for civilization. I don’t buy the claim the Roberts is the new flyweight queen. She may have won the bout but, when it comes to stable politics, it will be Lavigne who rules.   I would have liked to see this bout in person, but I am not going to the armpit of the country to see it.

I don’t do JMD bouts, but I have a little advice for my off and on Buddy Jenny Mac. Mac what were you thinking? You fought the Asylum of Saturday night and then flew across country to fight on Sunday. You know you are really much to old for that kind of thing and it shows. Just tell me how you did in those two fights. Really, You should stick to the Asylum broadcast booth.
