Katheryn Winnick vs Minka Kelly (Rematch)
(The Dollhouse vs Lioness Club of America)
(26-8, 26 KO vs 52-26-1, 48 KO)
Results: Lookout!, Story: Vassago

BEFORE:
Katheryn Winnick is 3-1 all-time versus the Lioness Club of America and tonight she wants to avenge that only loss which came in January of last year. Former bantamweight champion Minka Kelly is responsible for that only blemish on Winnick's LCA hit list but somehow there is very little bad blood between the two veterans.

Katheryn knocked out Demi Lovato last month which suggests she's at the top of her game right now: "Yeah, dare I say Ginny (Gardner) will have to wait for her time to shine!" (giggles) "I know Minka wants to join the Hall of Fame but well, I'm gonna adjust her record in a bad way tonight!" (more giggles).

Meanwhile Minka is kinda used to being overlooked in the big picture and has actually been knocked out by Demi Lovato last year herself: "Nina Dobrev would lose her mind over that sucker but not me. I've been here and done that. Katheryn is well within my range both at home and on the road. Besides, LA is MY home so don't expect these fans to cheer for a Canadian tonight!" (winks).

Katheryn Winnick wears a white crop top with black trim, matching hip-huggers and white gloves with a black 'Venum' sign painted on them. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Minka Kelly wears a leopard print crop top, black hip-huggers and red gloves. Long dark brown hair wrapped in a loose bun at the back of her head. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Minka is notoriously a slow starter but Katheryn doesn't take the early slugging bait which leads into an extended duck & weave show in the opening minute. Single punches are landed but both these vets seemingly treat the opener like a sparring session in the gym until Katheryn finally makes her move with a jabbing combo past the two-minute mark. She rocks Minka with a chin shot but misses the follow up and struggles to connect with a flurry of jabs afterwards; Minka jumps on the retreat plan but avoids getting trapped along the ropes and makes the blonde look more than desperate - and ineffective - in the process. The fans are buzzing however the big punch is nowhere to be found and only a brief staredown at the bell leaves them with something to scribble on.

Round 2:
Minka channels her southpaw stance early in the going as she drops the defensive mindset while Katheryn refuses to back off which leads into a hectic dispute in close range. Minka's body shots expose the blonde downstairs much easier than any Dollhouse fan wanted before a quick uppercut on the jaw sends the older woman reeling on her heels. Ugh! Too easy! Minka rattles a right/left combo on the mouth which bends her foe to the side and Winnick is simply unable to respond from the back foot which allows the L.A. native to whack her onto the ropes thereafter. Katheryn barks in her efforts to match Minka's jabbing assault but the former champion is too accurate in her execution and keeps drilling the Canadian's mouth until she slumps on visibly soft legs and eats another late bomb on the right eye at the bell.

Round 3:
Coach Kristanna Loken is furious as Kat suddenly has a swollen eye problem that develops during the interval. Endurance is actually one of Kelly's biggest assets which is bad news for someone of Winnick's age so the uptempo rush early in the third should surprise no one. Minka realizes she's struck the right cord here and uses her superior mobility to escape most of Kat's punches before she channels the steady overhand counter-response. Both vets exchange single punches most of the way before an accidental clash of heads slows the action down. Katheryn gets vocal in her jabbing pursuit but the uneasy Minka style remains a problem for many and the Dollhouse cougar just can't drop that hammer on target which leaves coach Loken visibly upset at the bell.

Round 4:
More of the same in the fourth, Minka abandons the slugging route and seemingly wants Katheryn to come to her. This lights up the blonde's fuse alright but she bounces off the high guard and gets picked off through the southpaw response over the top. More single punches come to the fore which might carry more damage than elsewhere given these cougars' age but then again, Katheryn is supposed to be the BEST bantamweight north of 40 years old so she has to survive the demanding Kelly test. She does here in the fourth even through artistic impression that has Minka bouncing on her toes in supreme defense. Big resources... little result.. even if the judges play by house rules, the LCA entourage is more than satisfied with the returns as evident by Minka's and Eva Mendes' friendly chatter during the break.

Round 5:
Katheryn isn't satisfied with the artistic impression advantage and pushes for a clear damage which drags her into a lenghty head-hunting exchange which Minka accepts following a quick right/left combo on the temples. She beats the Canadian for the punch by a split second but it's enough to gain the crucial upperhand as Winnick groans in her jabbing efforts that slowly lose all the juice. A left-on-left double does more damage to the already swollen eye and sends the blonde reeling while Kelly belts her on the liver area that takes more sting from the older woman's presence. Katheryn can't stay off the ropes anymore and disappears behind a tight earmuff while Minka blasts her around the elbows before finally dissecting the high guard again. Winnick is trapped in a precarious spot alright and just can't slug herself out of trouble in time; she eats another vicious double on the chin before Minka signs off her comeback run with a brutal uppercut on the jaw that leaves the Canadian yelping in pain at the bell.

Round 6:
Kat tries to mount another jabbing run but is visibly slower this time and the slugging tactics proves ill-advised since Minka steadily works her over in close range while adding more swelling on the right eye... uh-oh... it's going from bad to worse as Winnick gurgles with almost every punch landing on her face before Minka strikes low and whacks the ailing Canadian on the solar plexus... Katheryn wobbles forward with a whimper and gets crushed by a left hook on the jaw that sends the gumshield flying out!!! Disaster for The Dollhouse as Kat CRASHES DOWN ON HER KNEES moments later and just can't fend off the knockout daze before it's too late... she stays down on all fours until six and then makes a brave effort to get up but the gravity takes over and leaves her sitting on her backside when a very loud... "NINE... TEN..." rocks the Staples Center into a standstill... KO6 Minka Kelly!!!

Official Result: Minka Kelly def. Katheryn Winnick KO6.

AFTER:

The standstill is short enough since many Californians in the audience remind themselves Minka is the local girl after all so the subsequent roar catches Kristanna Loken and Carmen Electra by surprise... Minka waves back to her fans and offers Katheryn a helping hand but the proud blonde pounds the canvas in frustration and seems to ignore the gesture before she accepts it while trying not to look disappointed at the same time... "Good thing I'm not out there instead of Minka or else I'd pin that bytch sideways!", Eva Mendes shakes her head in disapproval and tries to ignite the crowd into a louder reaction - this effort works leaving Carmen Electra to ignore Erin Andrews' inquiry about another fight between the two veterans.
