Charlize Theron vs. Beau Garrett

BEFORE:

Pair of stunning blondes whose FCBA careers could not be more opposite. Theron, of course, the GOAT. Garrett arrived with some fanfare late in 2010...and proceeded to flame out the following year, falling off the radar with a career record of 3-7. She's fought twice since, both losses. But, if Beau is nothing if not confident coming in. "Yeah, I can beat her," the Beverly Hills beauty says. "I'm taller, younger, and I have a lot less mileage on me."

"I may have a lot of miles on me," says Charlize with a smile, "But, I still run very, very well. As Beau is about to find out."

ROUND ONE:

Boxing early as the two tall blondes use their length to get the jabs working and set up at gunnery range. And, Garrett, surprisingly, holding her own very well with one of the best boxers in FCBA history. What we're seeing right now is the Beau Garrett from the promotional materials, the tall, stunning athletic blonde with great hands and tons of talent. Meanwhile, CT probing, looking for breaks in her rival's defenses, finding some spots and filling them with leather. It's good, two-way stuff with both blondes having their moments and neither getting enough of what she wants to take control of things. Final minute sees several spirited exchanges, with, again, no one gaining much of an advantage. At the bell, the margin is razor-thin, but it's Theron who grabs the 10-9 edge.

ROUND TWO:

Same again. Ranged boxing from the two long blondes. And, again, Garrett showing all the stuff that made people believe she was a top prospect a decade ago. Theron patient, working the jab, probing, picking her spots. Definitely a purist's round with each woman focusing on the tactical, but, there's plenty of action, as both fighters are busy throughout, putting punches together, exchanging sharp, accurate leather. It's, once again, good, two-way stuff from the opening bell, and it stays that way throughout. Each fighter ups the tempo a bit late, clearly looking to steal the points, and there are, again, sharp exchanges as we approach the bell. When we get there, there isn't much in it, but Garrett has gotten on the board and evened things up at 19-19.

ROUND THREE:

Right back to the same terms for about thirty seconds until GARRETT ROCKS THE GOAT! Beau with a brilliantly-placed right hand that sends Charlize wobbling! And, Beau is all in! Statuesque blonde letting the hands go in a big way as she batters Theron back into the ropes and then calls in artillery strike after artillery strike. CT putting the body on sale in a high, tight guard, but Garrett not buying at ANY price. She's all about finishing this thing now, and all about head hunting. Theron blocking, rolling with, leaning back in the ropes, playing for time. Beau looking desperately for the 'off' switch...looking, but not finding. Theron able to shake the worst of the damage late, begin firing back in counter, even work her way off the ropes. But. At the bell, Beau's won it big to lead 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Garrett trying to build on last round, aggressively forward behind her jab. Theron giving some ground early, fighting in counter until...BOOM! Charlize keyholes a right hand a BEAU IS HURT! Now it's Garrett who's wobbling and the GOAT who's calling in the heavy guns. Younger blonde quickly forced backward and pinned on the ropes, where Theron goes to work. Clinically. She's not sloppy in the least. Instead, she's working the jab, setting up right hands, then HAMMERING the younger woman with them. Beau in the tight earmuff, hanging on. Referee looking in closely, ready to pounce. Garrett doing jusssssttttt enough to keep him at bay, as Charlize gets off lusty all the way to the bell. When it rings, Beau is still standing, but Theron has won the round wide and we are even at 38.

ROUND FIVE:

Theron on the hunt. She's looking to finish now, and she's definitely got Beau in retreat. Garrett still wobbly, trying to play for time, but Charlize not having any. She's stepping to, sitting down on punches, bringing the physical. Garrett eventually forced to the ropes, where she's taking again, just like she was at the end of the previous round. Again, ref paying close attention as the GOAT looks to end this thing and Beau tries to hold her off. BIG right from Charlize sends Garrett stumbling along the ropes and COLLAPSING TO THE CANVAS! Beau down, parallel to the ropes, on her right side. Charlize to a neutral corner to watch and wait. Garrett rolls to her back, ends up part way beneath the ropes. Keeps trying to sit up and running into the bottom rope. Muzzy mind can't figure it. And, before it does, the count has passed her by and it's OVER! And your winner by KO5 is Charlize Theron!

AFTER:

CT clearly happy with herself in the post. "I was curious about her, you know? A lot of hype when she started, but she kind of flamed out. Well. I could see the tools tonight. They're there. She's got ability. Why it never came together for her, I have no idea. But, there's stuff there, still. Just not enough to beat ME. But. There's been a lot of THAT going around the FCBA for a couple of decades now, you know?"
