Jessica Lowndes vs. Natalie Portman

(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

No love at all between these top flyweights, and that's obvious from the get-go. "She's past it," says Jessica grinning, "Just like Mishy. Living off her reputation. Well. That reputation won't help her when she's in there with ME tonight."

"Lowndes," says a hard-eyed Queen, "Has always been full of herself. Well. Tonight, I shall BEAT some of that out of her."

ROUND ONE:

Jessica aggressive early. Canadian wants to get physical with the Hall of Famer. Portman not having it. She's working the left, creating space with it, getting her box on. Lowndes a little frustrated, walking into stuff for awhile, but she settles down, begins working the feet, penetrating, getting some leather to head and body. Slowly, the round settles into a back-and-forth. Natalie in control when she's got the distance she wants and can box, Jessica piling up points when she can get inside and begin to bang. It's Lowndes, though, who's getting more of what she wants as the round goes on, so she's able to make up the early stagger, pull even with Portman late, and nose ahead before the bell ends the stanza, giving her a narrow victory and the 10-9 advantage.

ROUND TWO:

Lowndes gets rolling. She's getting to Natalie now, getting in her grill, backing her up, working her over to both head and body. Jessica not above a shove here and there when Portman tries to tie up, nor above a couple of shots to the kidneys that lead Natalie to protest to the ref. Jessica gets warned, but simply nods her head, smiles, and gets right back to roughing up the Hall of Famer. Portman has her moments, but there aren't many of them. Instead, Lowndes gets more dominant as the round goes on, roughing up the older woman, much to Queen Natalie's dismay. Final thirty seconds sees Lowndes teeing off in a big way. Natalie not hurt, but completely on the defensive right to the bell. When it rings, the Canadian has claimed the points wide and leads 20-18.

ROUND THREE:

Lowndes rampant. Portman can't keep her off. This is just what the Canadian wants, a banging, physical fight where she has all the advantages. Jessica alternately digging body and landing sharp shot to the head. Natalie trying to manage, slow some of this down, but can't seem to do it. Jessica's all OVER her right from the opening seconds, and the Queen has no answers. None. If there's one frustration for Lowndes, though, it's that she doesn't hurt Portman. She's trying hard to get her out of there, but, despite all the solid leather, coming up empty. But, she's piling up both punishment and points, and neither of those are bad things. By the time the final bell rings, Portman's looking a little puffy and Jessica's got a broad smile on her face. She's taken it wide again to stretch the lead to 30-27.

ROUND FOUR:

Jessica pressuring again, backing up Portman and EATING A RIGHT HAND! Natalie keyholes a perfect right hand counter and the Canadian is HURT! Lowndes rumblin', stumblin', fumblin' around the ring and Portman now letting the hands go, ripping hard shot at every legal inch of Jessica to pay her back for the pasting that Natalie herself took in the previous two rounds. Lowndes quickly rope bound, getting absolutely HAMMERED. She's hanging on in a tight guard, firing back here and there, working as hard as she can to keep the referee at bay. Natalie, meanwhile, alternately looking for the finisher upstairs and digging nasty leather into Lowndes' belly and ribs, punishing as much as she possibly can. At the bell, Jessica's ridden out the storm, but Portman has it wide and has cut the lead to 39-37.

ROUND FIVE:

Portman in control early. Lowndes still somewhat wobbly, and Natalie's taking advantage, backing her up, keeping her at range where she can pick apart the defenses of a stationary target. This is classic Portman, outboxing her foe in a BIG way, dropping in hard right hands, punishing, piling up points. Lowndes throwing back here and there, but she's largely ineffective. She's short, slow, off. Portman's dialed in, and she's calling in the heavy guns late in the round, backing Jessica to the ropes again and having at her. Canadian doing well to ship the shell and stay afloat, but she's taking a beating and her face is beginning to show the results. By the time the bell rings, she's puffing up and her nose is trickling blood. But. Lowndes is still on her feet and still in the lead 48-47 despite losing a second straight round wide.

ROUND SIX:

Portman on the attack, Lowndes still not all the way back, the damage of the past two rounds having clearly piled up on the Canadian. She's not moving well, and the older brunette is taking full advantage, picking her apart with solid flurries to both head and body. Jessica trying to hold ground and bang back, work her way back into the fight, but, Natalie's slowly forcing her to retreat, despite Lowndes' best efforts. BOOM! Right hook, Portman! Jessica is HURT! Lowndes wobbles and then Natalie DROPS HER WITH A STRAIGHT RIGHT! Jessica on her back sputtering as Portman strides to a neutral corner. Ref counting down on the dazed Canadian. Lowndes rolls to her belly at six, but fails in her attempts to push to hands and knees and it's OVER! And your winner by KO6 is Natalie Portman!

AFTER:

Not a smile from Portman in the post. Hall of Famer as hard-eyed as she was in the pre-fight. "Perhaps now," the Queen says, "Jessica will realize that reports of my boxing demise have been GREATLY exaggerated. Much like her own talents."
