BEFORE: It's time for a high-profile Ohio rematch - and it doesn't get any bigger than to put the unified welterweight title on the line in the process! Adrianne Palicki bailed out of the February appointement with Brooklyn Decker and cashed in to end Amanda Righetti's 14-month reign but reserved a spot for the in-state rival right after her first defense last month: "I have a score to settle with Mrs. Roddick here! I got myself a good battle test for her size when I took down Hilary Rhoda but I'm all in to prove I'm still the best Buckeye babe in town! Sorry, Brooks! Just like your Front Street days, the welter crown is NOT available!"

Brooklyn Decker has taken Adrianne down in the original Battle of Ohio in October 2017 but the big prize in the 130+ lbs division has always deserted her. This is her third bite at the welter cherry after going down to Cassidy Freeman & Amanda Righetti before. Is third time the charm and will she win the welter straps before her old stable does? There are some true side-effect gems in the making and while Palicki tested the model powers via Hilary Rhoda last month, Decker has promptly dispatched the middleweight behemoth Robyn Lawley to enter this Buckeye battle royale in top shape! No excuses, folks!

Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.

Round 1:
No early heroics on display as both women refuse to engage in the slugging tactics which leaves Palicki more comfortable with the half-hearted approach. She might have lost the original meeting but it's her title to defend and Brooklyn has to come and get it. Those loopy single punches ain't gonna get it done and Decker is too experienced to waste energy on a meaningless pursuit on the road to nowhere. She bangs 'em hard alright but does little to impress the champ who cycles around and simply anticipates more of that model swag. Not gonna happen here in the opener that is basically as calm as it gets.

Rounds 2 & 3:
Things pick up during the next six minutes where Brooklyn suddenly ups the pace and begins to steer her punches into Adrianne's face forcing the champ to reply in the slugging fashion after all. Even though Palicki manages to expose the model's high guard with more than just a breeze of leather, Decker is fresh off Lawley's middleweight powers and shrugs it off forcing the Sceej woman to look a little soft here behind her punches. Adrianne cashes in hard and accurate but barely makes Decker move away from point-blank range attack that has spells of outright fury. Brooklyn rallies late in the second to send Palicki onto the ropes before she belts her on the navel however an accidental head-butts neutralizes the danger; she recovers in the third to mess around the model's ribcage as more jabbing menace drops Decker out of mid-range prowess and allows the champ to dictate the action. Decker's abs are maybe not Anllela Sagra's copy but she shakes off a spirited effort and punks Adrianne with a left hook that wobbles the champion on soft knees right at the bell.

Round 4 & 5:
More back & forth slugging finally opens some holes on both sides and thumping a proud model like Brooklyn in the boobs is always a good try! The Kettering babe didn't see that coming from someone so far removed from the JMDD battles that she gets drilled on the solar plexus a couple of times and before she knows it, there's Palicki blasting her on the breadbasket along the ropes. Champ gets more animated in making a proper statement and traps a reeling blonde on the turnbuckle where she carves bruises in the toned ribcage until Decker simply clinches her on her way to a proper forfeit of her chances. More Palicki buzzing early in the fifth, she keeps exploring that midsection niche and slips underneath Brooklyn's aerial attacks one after another... she dings Decker on the navel and drives a shoulder into her boobs taking full advantage of the crippled frame. She bulldozes her onto the ropes and slowly begins to wear the challenger down in ultra-effective fashion as Decker's superior reach is shut down to the point LCA coach Claudia Schiffer begins to shout in her German language oblivious to the fact Brooklyn simply doesn't understand her advice!

Round 6:
Adrianne's stubborn body assault finally slows Brooklyn down so much she's feeling the jug muggin' heat when the champion hauls in the otherwise usual uppercut supply early in the sixth. Thumping the model's rack up the midde does the trick as Brooklyn seems to be catching her breath harder than before and barely notices a stinger on the liver area that turns her to the side. She tries to push off from her heels in desperate fashion but Palicki ducks another shot like that and plugs a big right hand on the solar plexus turning it from the hip... UH-OH!!! Decker cries out and wobbles forward as Adrianne smacks a left hook on the jaw and FORCES BROOKLYN TO TAKE A KNEE!!! If the champ was fast enough, she could have flicked another shot just for a good measure but Decker looked shaky for a period of time before and looks to be struggling to handle the close range playing field enforced by her opponent. She sure didn't expect so many jug shots as well and Palicki winks back at the crowd as Brooks soaks up the standard eight count and tries to make another run... Adrianne is almost too hesitant to pull the quick trigger but she bounces the sluggish model around the ring thereafter and has build a significant lead on the cards after six rounds!

Round 7:
Maybe it's a mental block that leaves Decker so scrappy in these welter championship fights? Coach Schiffer is furious that the Sports Illustrated legend has allowed Palicki to run this bout on her own terms but the immediate recovery bounces off the jabbing wall as Adrianne picks up right where she left off and pounds more jugs like she wants to humiliate the proud model on top of just keeping the straps away from the fellow Buckeye's lap! Ugh! Brooklyn gets backed onto the ropes but ducks underneath a scything cross which tips Palicki too far forward and catching a stray elbow in her own chest in the process. Decker slings one from the hip and just grazes the ribcabe before she finally loops one over the top and nails the champ on the nose! Adrianne tries to swing back but leans over the ropes in awkward manner and gets beaten for another nasty cross on the nose that allows the challenger to trap her in the corner and rain a quick-fire assault that Adrianne simply can't cover fast enough. Her head snaps around as she tries to slug it out and then still gets whacked on the nose and folds into a brutal uppercut on the jaw THAT SENDS HER DOWN ON ONE KNEE!!! Ugh! She wobbled right out of her comfort zone however the bell comes to her rescue when she looked all set but to stay put in the knockdown daze! And Brooklyn is furious but she has to soak it up amid wild cheers from the audience!

Round 8:
Brooklyn comes in hot to dish out the jabbing maze into the champ's face as the shocking knockdown has really boosted her spirits now; Adrianna still ahead on the cards but forced to fend off the model's power supply instead of boxing it out to a safe finish. Decker's red mist mode affects her precision but she's got to hurry up now regardless, she can't quite follow through with her punches and gets repeatedly clinched instead which works into Palicki's favor. Scrappy middle period leaves Brooklyn fuming at the ref instead of packing all the required punches... what do you know? Adrianne storms in with more body assault and keeps the younger blonde at bay before a right-on-right exchange tears a small gash under the model's eye... she stumbles forward and gets punked on the boobs which allows Palicki to thump her butt-in-ropes in the opposite corner where more gut-checking menace grinds her down to a halt... and another booming hook finds the jaw which TRIPS DECKER DOWN ON HER KNEES!!! Not again?!? Adrianne roars into Claudia Schiffer's face and that could be that! Decker on her way out - mentally as well as physically - but not quite there in the end! She gets up at seven and has the nerve to complain about a slippery surface! Palicki laughs in agony as she just can't put the fellow Buckeye away! Whatever! Brooklyn has no time to mount another comeback and remains trapped on the ropes as the champ still cleans out her stomach to underline her reign!

Round 9:
Adrianne wants to control the close range tussle but gets bumped off in jug-to-jug contact and has to loop it over the top to perhaps inflict more damage on the gash under Decker's left eye. However she eats a crushing hook on the brow ridge herself and has to think better off it as Brooklyn makes a good use of her superior reach to bang crisp shots on target. Palicki stays in the slugging lane as she's not gonna lure the challenger into a simple trap - but Brooklyn has to chase her around given she's behind on the cards. Suddenly a booming harpoon pierces the champ's solar plexus and she trips back on the ropes as Decker gives her a proper jug muggin' test herself... Brooklyn rains uppercuts like skittles into Adrianne's chest and shrugs off the clinching efforts... she takes a step back and SMOKES the weaving champion on the mouth - punching her gumshield right out!!! Adrianne just leaned the wrong way - this once and no further - and got plugged right on the bullseye. UH-OH!!! The champ's legs give way right there and then... DOWN GOES PALICKI!!! Brooklyn stumbles to her corner with misty eyes as she spits out her gumshield into Claudia Schiffer's face but there's more trouble in the opposite corner as Palicki remains all limp in awkward position getting chin-checked out of her championship reign!!! The count is slow but not slow enough for Adrianne who can't stay off the boards and bellows out of her senses as the vertigo kicks in!!! KO9 and the NEW unified welterweight champion Brooklyn Decker!!!

AFTER: Joe Burrow might be the new Tiger King in south-western Ohio but the new boxing Queen comes from a town ca. 50 miles north of the Bengals home. And that's a Lioness Queen no less! Third time the charm and Brooklyn claims the long-awaited trophy!!! Forget the blood seeping from the gash under her eye! You don't take out the Chin-Checker for the second time in two attempts without a bloody price! But it was sure worth it!

The new champion disappears in Claudia Schiffer's embrace and admits she barely had anything left there in the end but forced herself to knock Palicki out! Either this or the Decker curse would have been mocked by the likes of Hannah Ferguson or Tahnee Atkinson for months to come!

And the icing on the cake, Brooklyn claims the welterweight straps before her old stable Front Street does! "I don't think they love me over there anymore!", she giggles over the mic while talking to Erin Andrews, "Nope. Their hardboiled policy of not fighting Wizzo's ex-kids kinda rules Antje out of the running but I know a name of two that will get the chance! But hey, Adrianne is back on her feet so let's give her a hug, shall we?"

Mutual respect remains between the two Ohio natives as Adrianne admits her chin hurts a little more than usual and the welter straps are passed over to good hands anyway: "Jenny Mac will lose her mind again but I got my Righetti cake earlier this year! This one should serve you well!"

Too much joy for the state of Ohio lately and there's always time to kick Michigan's backside in the fall again but Brooklyn denies mentioning Kate Upton's favorite college team should be treated as a spoiler: "Kate's been very silent in the past few weeks. Maybe the wear & tear has gotten to her after all? Whatever! I'm on TOP right now and somehow it feels better than when I won the lightweight straps. The odds were against me tonight but I proved that moving up to welter was the correct choice!"
