BEFORE:

"Look," says Cobie with a shake of the head, "I know I don't have the best record around here. But, I HAVE beaten some good fighters. And, I can beat THIS girl."

"You can't take anyone lightly in the FCBA," says Taylor. "And, I'm not going to do that. What I AM going to do is leave her on the canvas. Count on it.

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Kiss Me Deadly' by Lita Ford, and here comes the star of ABC's 'Stumptown', the lovely Cobie Smulders..."

McCarthy: "Another tomato can. You'd think Weirdo was running an Italian restaurant around here..."

Cassie: "That might have been Mac's one good line for 2020..."

Tess: "Too bad she used it up in March..."

McCarthy: "Shut up, BOTH of you!"

O'Dell: "Drink up, boys, and drink in the lovely Cobie as she's helped off with the robe to reveal that deep blue number we've seen before. And, that's 'Natural' by Imagine Dragons you hear pounding through the arena, and here comes 'The Face', Taylor Hill!"

Tess: "Hill a girl that Wiz is pushing toward a shot at the lightweight titles."

O'Dell: "Hill down the aisle and into the ring. She's helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that azure number she prefers and looking very good in it if the crowd can by believed."

McCarthy: "Philly. Low standards. She's a talentless toothpick!"

O'Dell: "Ladies about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Taylor. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Tomato can. Even HILL can beat her!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "Three straight unanimous panels. Brunettes get to work at range and some early aggression from Cobie as she backs up Hill with a nice flurry and then ROCKS HER WITH A RIGHT HAND! Smulders lands a BOOMING right in the first minute of the bout and Hill is in trouble..."

McCarthy: "Just what I said! A talentless toothpick!"

O'Dell: "Cobie on FIRE right now, reefing punches at the younger woman, driving her back into the ropes and letting her have it with both hands. Hill in a high, tight guard, rolling with, blocking, hanging on, doing enough jabbing back to keep the referee at bay..."

Tess: "Rough way to start a fight for a girl Front Street has high hopes for..."

O'Dell: "Cobie working ribs and belly, then going back upstairs. She's looking to pull off a major shocker here. Only ten seconds to go in the round, though. GOOD right from Smulders shook Hill. Referee looking closely, but there's the bell. Cobie and wide in the first."

Cassie: "Smulders up 10-9. Definitely a great start."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Smulders right to work to start the second, backing Hill up with hard shot. Taylor giving a little ground, then starting to circle. Younger brunette jabbing, working the feet, seems to have shaken the worst of the damage from the last round. Cobie pressuring, but Hill using movement to counter it."

Cassie: "Good stuff from Taylor right here."

O'Dell: "Sure is. Hill getting the jab on, slowing down Smulders. Cobie still working forward, looking to get physical, having moments where she's getting heavy leather on. Taylor keeping those short, though, as she jabs, turns, continues moving to make Cobie pursue..."

McCarthy: "If she weren't such a weak toothpick, she could stand and fight..."

O'Dell: "Into the final seconds of the second. It's been a competitive round. Cobie lands a good right. Taylor fires back with a quick flurry, then circles away. Cobie forward, Hill jabbing, stopping her, and there's the bell. Close round, but Hill's going to get the points."

Tess: "And, we're even at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Terms looking to be set right now. Hill wants to stick and move, and that's a bit of a departure for her, while Cobie wants to get physical. And, Smulders angling inside, banging some body. Taylor tying her up. Cobie punching free. Lands a nice right hand before Hill circles away."

McCarthy: "Running away! Stand in there and FIGHT, toothpick!"

O'Dell: "Taylor establishing some distance, getting the left hand on. Cobie stepping to and landing a nice combination. She backs up Hill with that one and then follows on with another before Taylor extricates herself and gets back to open canvas, jabbing and legging."

Tess: "Got to admit, I'm surprised Hill's continuing with this. I get it last round, when she was buying time, but this isn't her usual style."

O'Dell: "It isn't, but it's working for the moment. We've got another close round going on. Taylor scoring on the outside, Cobie scoring when she's able to close and create lots of heavy fire. Five seconds to go. Good exchange sees a nice right from Hill and there's the bell. Close again. Smulders."

Cassie: "And, Cobie back up 1, 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Cobie upping the aggression now, trying to take control of this thing. She's letting the hands go, backing Hill up. Taylor willing to give ground, circle, jab. Not going to get into firefights here if she can help it. And, I've got to admit, I'm also surprised Hill is continuing with the jab and circle route..."

Cassie: "The thinking might be about taking chances at this point. Manage. Then pick your spot."

McCarthy: "OR, she's a talentless toothpick who can't hold canvas!"

O'Dell: "Smulders definitely having the better of things in this stanza. She's controlling the round. Hill landing here and there, staying on the move when she can, but Cobie's getting to the spots she wants, forcing big exchanges, and getting the better of most of them."

Tess: "This is one of the better performances we've seen from Smulders."

O'Dell: "Definitely is. We're down to thirty seconds in the fourth, and Cobie's definitely built herself a lead. She backs Hill up with a solid combination. Taylor circles, jabs. Cobie angling, cuts the ring, lands a good right hand at the bell. No question about it. Smulders' round and Cobie now leads 39-37."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Pattern set. Smulders pushing the issue, Hill managing, working those long, athletic legs, circling, jabbing, making the older woman work to bring her to battle. Cobie willing to put the effort in, cuts the ring, lands a combination. Hill bangs back and slips away."

Cassie: "Hill definitely moves very, very well. When she was fighting welter, she was usually the most athletic girl, but that's also proving to be the case at lightweight."

O'Dell: "Quick hands, too. She gets those punches out and back, uses the left to set the right up well. But, all that being said, Smulders is getting work done, too, showing some things we haven't always seen from her, including that effective aggression that's getting points scored."

Tess: "Not a lot in it in this round."

O'Dell: "Not much at all. And, we've got just twenty seconds to go. Taylor roaming the ring, working the jab. The Canadian trying to work past, get some leather on, but, not happening. Hill pop-pop-popping that left, then dropping in a nice right hand at the bell. Close. Hill."

McCarthy: "But, Smulders still leads the toothpoick 48-47 at the half."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Smulders pressing the issue early and Hill again using the legs. She's backing, circling, jabbing, stopping to pop, making Cobie work to create the heavy exchanges Smulders clearly wants. Cobie cutting the ring, working some body before Taylor ties up and slips away..."

McCarthy: "That's what I'd do. Work that body and the toothpick will collapse."

O'Dell: "Cobie working forward, trying to get past that long, accurate jab of Taylor's. Hill making things difficult with the movement, constantly on the move while laying covering fire with that left hand and CATCHING SMULDERS WITH A BOOMING RIGHT AND DOWN GOES COBIE!"

Cassie: "Pick. Your. Spot."

O'Dell: "She picked a good one! Cobie crumpled to the mat and pooled at Taylor's feet. Hill to a neutral corner. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. No movement from Cobie who remains face down on the canvas. Seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO6 is 'The Face', Taylor Hill!"

Tess: "I guess this style worked pretty well..."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Taylor Hill, and, Taylor, a little different fight for you..."

Taylor (nodding): "Yeah, I'm tall and rangy and I like the gunnery range stuff, but, I can stick and move, too, and that looked to be the right tactic tonight."

Tess: "What's next for you?"

Taylor: "I want a shot at those belts, you know? So, whatever gets me closer to that opportunity."
