Katheryn Winnick vs Caity Lotz

BEFORE:
Caity Lotz's career revival is probably the main reason why The Dollhouse invited her for the big dance in Staples Center but Katheryn Winnick believes she's gonna stop the fellow blonde's recent run of success: "I’ve heard a lot of talk about me being the favorite tonight…have they SEEN Caity? She’s in scary shape and almost 10 years younger…I KNOW she’s going to be a huge challenge for me and this is exactly why I’m fighting her. My previous fight didn’t go as planned unfortunately, and I’m here to fix it tonight. I’ve beaten Demi this year…I can beat Caity. But it’s gonna be one hell of a battle in there. I know it."
Meanwhile the younger actress shows the local favorite very little respect: "I know Tractorpull loves Kat but she's run out of steam lately. You can't fight a schedule like that at her age! Get real! I'm shocked some people still consider her elite! Once I knock her out tonight, she's heading down the past-prime road, people! Wish me luck!" Caity ends with a wink.
Katheryn Winnick wears a white sports bra with black trim, matching hip-huggers and white gloves with a black 'Venum' sign painted on them. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Caity Lotz wears a pink crop top, matching hip-huggers and white gloves. Long blonde hair wrapped in a fighting braid. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Katheryn didn't take Caity's pre-fight comments lightly and she powers ahead with a pinpoint jabbing effort that splits the younger blonde's mitts and leaves her bouncing on her toes in avoidance. Caity just can't slug it back at the local favorite and Katheryn moves her around during the opening minute before she cracks a booming hook on the temple to spin Lotz onto the ropes. More power supply keeps the Medallion blonde trapped on the ropes as Winnick gets vocal in her slugging pursuit however she misfires a couple of times and allows Caity to strike back with single punches come the final minute. Caity finally finds her response but another right hook on the jaw sinks her into spasms and Winnick cleans out shop pounding the exposed midsection to secure a wide round on the cards.
Round 2:
Katheryn tries to pick up where she left off but Caity is quick to pounce on the slugging pattern this time and matches the Canadian punch-for-punch until she wobbles the older blonde with a nasty hook on the temple. Katheryn barks in anger but has to soak up a faceful of leather as Lotz jumps right at her and and almost head-butts her in the process before applying more phone booth menace. Winnick's high guard collapses in wake of Caity's attack which leads into hectic clinching efforts in the second minute as Kat refuses to slug back at the younger foe. Caity shakes off the clinch and scythes the Canadian across the mouth before she nails Winnick on the belly button and pounds her butt-in-ropes. The bell eventually bails Kat out of trouble but she looks downright upset during the interval.
Round 3:
Both women channel the slugging exchange however precision really goes away in this mind over matter dispute. Only single punches connect with the flesh as Winnick almost loses her footing and accidentally trips her opponent onto the ropes. Caity signals she's been hit low but the ref has none of it while Kat strikes first venom as she rocks Lotz's head back & forth before getting stuffed on the midsection herself. Caity escapes the trap along the ropes with an uppercut frenzy that tags the older blonde's jaw but a looping hook turns into a headlock attempt and the ref has to separate the two combatants. Katheryn tries to close the American down in the corner again but the fast-moving Lotz dances away into mid-range and begins to gesture at the Dollhouse corner which leaves the Staples Center fuming at the bell.
Round 4:
Caity channels the cross-hooking route to ring Katheryn's bell early in the going but the follow up never finds the target and allows the older blonde to crack a meaningful response that glues Lotz to the spot. Both women keep sending one blow after another until Katheryn finally tries to duck low for more success and pummels the exposed ribcage come the one-minute mark. Caity turns up the mobility heat and avoids further da mage but she yields real estate in the process and allows Winnick to cash in with the judges as the pounce continues until the third minute and Caity's looping response from the back foot finds nothing but thin air. Katheryn keeps swinging around and while she only grazes the younger blonde's flesh, she does enough to edge a close encounter through shear activity alone according to the pundits.
Round 5:
Katheryn rips a left cross on the nose and almost expects Caity to feel it but suddenly she gets crippled by a nasty gut shot as the Medallion blonde barks in anger and beats the Canadian veteran for a brutal overhand that squashes the nose and drops Winnick into spasms. Uh-oh!!! Kat closes her eyes for a moment and gets SMOKED by a vicious uppercut on the jaw that silences the Staples Center on the spot! DOWN GOES KAT!!! Double uh-oh as Kat collapses on her knees and bends her head against the canvas as even the slowest of counts can't start late enough! Caity struts back to her corner and tries not to giggle too loud as Katheryn is still down on one knee at six and looks rattled in her recovery effort. She gets up at eight but barely nods back to the ref and Caity simply licks her chops as she roars from the neutral corner to spike more leather into her face! Katheryn appears to be shaken up by that knockdown and doesn't offer anything in return as Lotz threatens to punch her face into a swollen mess; she rips one hook after another and pounds the ailing Canadian onto the ropes where Winnick simply gives up the ghost while still upright and the REF HAS TO STEP IN to save the Dollhouse pride!!!
Official Result: Caity Lotz def. Katheryn Winnick TKO5.
AFTER:
Big time striking from Caity there in the end but she broke Katheryn's resilience with that epic uppercut earlier. It's a "Don't call it an upset" kind of an upset but the Medallion crew doesn't care as the Lotz revival is very much alive & well according to all the evidence. Meanwhile Winnick's elite ambitions look to be over for the time being and the proud Canadian has a very hard time embracing this defeat. Losing to Minka Kelly is one thing but Caity Lotz is someone who should have been sent home packing with room to spare! Perhaps it's time for Ginny Gardner to join Bella Thorne and take over the Dollhouse Bantam leadership for good? Watch this space! |
