Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse

BEFORE:
And now, our second fight of the evening and a clash between two lovely and talented actresses: Jessica Chastain hopes to cut her losses and score a needed win against the veteran Rachel McAdams. Both women enter the press hall looking calm and confident, with Chastain in a long, silky red dress and McAdams wearing a black tube top and denim jacket.

"Well, I mean, Katheryn beat her, didn’t she? Why wouldn’t I?” Chastain says first from the table, flashing a sarcastic smile at the first reporter’s dumb question. “But in all seriousness, this is probably going to be one of the toughest fights of my relatively short career, and I'm f*cking ready for it. I did my best to prep for Rachel, but I’m also hoping Rachel would be so kind as to position herself in the perfect place for me to blast her off her feet. But even if that doesn’t happen, I promise you're still going down, Rach!" Chastain ends with a wink and much laughter from the crowd for her wishful thinking.

“Sure, honey, would you like me to get you a margarita while we’re at it as well? How about a can of I’m-gonna-whoop-your-arse?” Rachel replies with a smile and chuckle, before rolling her eyes at her opponent. “Tell you what: my fist will be in the perfect place... right between those lovely eyes of yours. In all seriousness, Chastain’s good as well. Most of us started this boxing thing years ago, but not Jessica. She entered the ring and stayed in the ring despite everything she’s up against. Whoever’s going down by the end tonight, she has my respect.”

Some nice barbs thrown both ways as the two ladies pose for the cameras at the podium. Both are of the same height and built, with McAdams only sporting a year’s advantage and of course, five times as many fights as Chastain has under her belt. Regardless, none of them look nervous as they shake hands and return to their backstage corners.

Hours later, McAdams is the first to enter the arena, her hands up in the air, rocking to music as she strides down in a pink sports bra and hot denim shorts, the same ones that made her famous in that movie with Ryan Gosling. Chastain comes out between the curtains next, sporting those long red tights and sports bra that have many people dubbing her ‘The Phoenix’.

Ladies touch gloves in the ring after the ref goes through the usual, boring rules. They raise their gloves in their corners and with a nod of the head, HERE we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
Slow start to this contest as the pair of older ladies conserve their energy and circle first, charge in later. Both Jess and Rachel flick jabs at each other’s heads, rather than dipping their toes and cannonballing at each other recklessly like some of their younger counterparts. Nope. All methodical fighting here as Rachel advances step-by-step, picking up the pace of her assault as she squeezes jabs left, right, up and center at Chastain, making the Doll grunt when some of those jabs sail through her guard. But the second half has the complete opposite effect: Chastain repaying the favour in kind with jab-jab-hook combos fired quickly, startling McAdams by the ferocity as her arms take a beating and she gets a nice little taster of the Doll’s power. Last few seconds of the round and both ladies end up where they started: at opposite ends of the ring and on equal footing. A nice draw to start this fight off!

ROUND 2:
Chastain’s still moving defensively, which is her natural style. Redhead takes a step back each time Rachel advances on her, but even she can’t contend with McAdams’ vast experience in this squared circle: Rachel first fires jabs at the head in quick succession, then suddenly switches to a left hook that ends up being a feint! POW of a return right sent the other way, slamming into the side of Chastain’s head with nasty impact! Jessica’s fans let out a shocking gasp as their woman stumbles a little, looking groggy but otherwise okay. McAdams smirking behind her gloves, advances on her with even more aggression. Chastain’s thrown into disarray early in this fight, can’t quite predict which way Rachel will telegraph her punches: one moment it’s a barrage of jabs poking at the head, the other it’s another swing comin’ in from the right-hand side, catching her hard on the body. Bad news for the Doll if this is how the rest of the fight’s gonna go: she needs to develop a better strategy of evading those punches!

ROUND 3:
And strategise she does! McAdams still the aggressor when the bell rings, charging at Jessica and looking to score an upset tonight. The blonde tries the same feint maneuver as before, only to get her hook parried awkwardly to the side with a gasp, then a stiff snap to the chin for her efforts. Jessica predicting her attack vector a little more accurately as she plays counter-attack, rams another right hand into the actress’ nose to literally push Rachel backwards with a grunt. McAdams rubbing her face, some malice in her eyes as she tries another attack, but Chastain’s content to run the outskirts, defending with a wall of jabs to her head and body in order to deter her advance and finally win a round.

ROUND 4:
That’s the strength of Jessica Chastain whilst in the ring: watching her move and adapt to her opponent’s strategy is always a thing of beauty to behold, and evidence of a real fighter if we’ve ever seen one. She stops Rachel’s third advance with a stiff straight hand to her face, bunching up at that pretty cheek before a follow-up hook to the body has her opponent squealing in outrage. Time to capitalise, Chastain thinks, as she slowly pushes Rachel back with more combos sent crashing in high and low. Rachel’s in trouble now, the tables turned on her as she’s forced to cover up but can’t compete with both the power and frequency of Jessica’s attacks. McAdams gets BLOWN to the side by another fast-furious hook sent around the arms and into the side of her head, which sends her sprawling into the ropes! AND HERE COMES JESS!! Redhead shows NO mercy as she bends McAdams over in half with another flurry to her midsection, followed by a textbook right hand SMASHED into her chin, and DOWN MCADAMS GOES!! What an early KNOCKDOWN for Chastain! Rachel sent crashing down to her side, before the stunned woman folds over onto her back, left staring up at the ceiling lights… Referee by her side, shouting random numbers into her face, but it ain’t no use! The Hollywood actress barely makes it back up to her knees before the count of 10! It’s all over!!

Official Decision: Jessica Chastain defeats Rachel McAdams via KO4!

AFTER:
A modest but important celebration for Chastain, who scores her fourteenth win and fourteenth KO of her career. She’s not nearly at the level that Rachel has achieved in her own long and sordid career, but hey, this win tonight has surely proven the Doll has what it takes to give even the best in the business a run for their money.

Jessica immediately heads over to Rachel to help her up, thereafter embracing and congratulating her with brief but inaudible words in the ear. The ladies pat each other on the back before Chastain returns to her corner, all smiles, and matching those plastered on her teammates’ faces as well.

Later, the exhausted looking redhead gets interviewed by a lucky reporter on her way backstage: “That was…revitalizing. I’m SO happy! Look…I’m 43…this sh*t is hard OK?” she chuckles. “But I have a few more years in me…I know it. I think Rachel is amazing and I really can’t believe I got her in 4. I got a bit lucky tonight, but I’m also surprisingly good at this. Wouldn’t you agree?” Jessica laughs, then thanks the man for the interview and waves to the cheering fans one last time for tonight before disappearing behind the curtains.
