Elizabeth Olsen versus Selena Gomez (Results: Lookout!, Words: Fates)

Selena Gomez: 27 years old, 5’5,” 32-19 since 2010, Lioness Club of America

Before:

A fight between two veteran bantamweights who both share the rather undesirable fact that they have both fought over 50 fights yet have not captured a title in their time in the FCBA. And while tonight’s bout is not for the title nor a number one contendership, one can’t help but think that this fight could move one of them higher up in the division and just that much closer to the title.

Before the fight, neither girl is particularly talkative. Gomez merely says “Olsen’s had some ups and downs, yet she still is around. But she hasn’t made too much noise in a while – and I’m planning to keep it that way on my road to the top.”

Olsen’s statement is just as direct. “I don’t care if it’s Selena or someone else. I’m looking for wins. Not a .500 record.”

For the fight, Gomez is dressed in a navy blue bikini with white gloves with blue trim, her hair up in a ponytail for the match. Olsen has opted for a scarlet sports bra and black trunks with matching black gloves, her hair up in a bun for the fight. The two girls touch gloves and off we go for ten rounds of bantamweight action!

Round 1:

Both girls get out of their corners with their eyes locked onto each other as they begin to circle clockwise. Lizzie launches the first blow, a right that Selena parries easily before responding with a right straight to Olsen’s face. Olsen looks for the counter and finds a right that skips off of Gomez’s cheek and the brunette actress shoots out a left straight that Gomez merely dodges and the singer pops Olsen flush in her face, busting open her upper lip. Liz panicking from Selena’s early strikes and steps forward and shoots out a right jab that turns into a lunge and Gomez buries a short uppercut into Olsen’s chin and the actress wobbles on her feet as she stumbles backwards! Lizzie covering up as Selena pounds away on the Avenger’s body as the younger girl works Olsen into the ropes. Gomez going to town, churning out lefts and rights as Olsen’s slow on the clinch, but she eventually forces a break. Once the referee lets the fight resume, Olsen quickly puts some distance between herself and Gomez, but that doesn’t stop Gomez from treating her body like a punching bag until the bell. Lizzie drenched in sweat, bruises already beginning to show on her body, her lip still slightly bloody as Gomez seemingly waltzes away with the first round by a shutout.

Round 2:

Selena charges out of her corner and makes a beeline for Elizabeth, working her right jab early and going back to Olsen’s face. Liz covers her head and Selena pounds Lizzie’s ribs, dictating where Olsen goes. Gomez feints hard to her left and Olsen bites, moving her guard to the anticipated strike only for Selena to deftly strike to her right. Gomez’s punch gets Olsen in her mouth and reopens her upper lip. Olsen throws out a desperation punch as there’s a vicious look in Gomez’s eyes and Lizzie’s punch meets Selena’s face and halts her. Lizzie hesitates just long enough in following up that Gomez can put up her guard just in time to stop the actress’ punches at her head. Lizzie quickly changes course, churning out lefts and rights into Selena’s body, working her back into the ropes. Selena fighting back, getting in some good counterpunches, but Elizabeth keeps her in the ropes as time expires. Both girls go back to their corners after a back and forth round, but it’s Olsen who comes out narrowly ahead on points.

Round 3:

Elizabeth Olsen gets out of her corner more quickly than the previous round and gets straight into a rhythm, alternating a set of three punches into Selena Gomez’s body, retreating before the singer can respond, take a few steps around, then do it again. And again. And again. And again – until Gomez slams a right into Olsen’s chin and the actress backs off. Gomez follows up with a left to Lizzie’s body and adds another right for good measure. The two girls start circling each other with Selena being the aggressor, stringing together a series of rights and lefts until Lizzie catches her with a right hook and Gomez nearly goes down! Olsen works a big right into Gomez’s face and sends the singer careening backwards and into the ropes where Lizzie keep her, pounding midriff until Selena catches Elizabeth in her chin with a quick right that gets her a quick reprieve, but Olsen goes right back after the singer. Liz connects with a big right to Selena’s midriff as time expires, and the brunette actress has to be happy with that round overall and wins it on points, wide.

Round 4:

Lizzie has a different look in her eyes as the fourth round starts and she straight up charges Selena. Olsen slings rights and lefts with seemingly reckless abandon and connects with a pair of haymakers. Gomez backs up and plants her feet as Olsen advances and the actress lashes out with a right that Selena neatly dodges and sticks a left straight into Olsen’s nose and freezes the actress! Olsen with a blank look on her face as she blinks and Gomez pounds one, two, three punches into her jaw before connecting with an uppercut that drops Olsen! Lizzie is left wincing on the ground as Gomez gets out of the center of the ring and the ref starts to count. The Avenger gets herself onto all fours at the count of six as she shakes her head, gets to one knee at seven, and forces herself up just before nine. The ref checks in on her, and satisfied that Olsen can continue, he waives Gomez back in. The singer turns to a more offensive approach, focusing on the brunette’s torso as the fight resumes, but Lizzie is sharp with her counters, never letting Selena connect without a response until the bell. Thanks to her knockdown, Gomez wins the round on points, wide.

Round 5:

The Lioness corner’s message to Gomez is simple: keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll get the victory. The Fates corner, meanwhile, is trying to clean up Olsen and get her head back in the fight. Unsurprisingly, Gomez comes out strong, starting with a straight left to the Avenger’s jaw and gets her on her back foot early. Selena gets her punches working, staying close to Lizzie and working her body, knowing that every punch that lands wears Olsen down, even if it doesn’t take her down. Lizzie tries to keep her distance, backpedaling around the ring before she plants her feet and fights back after Gomez sends a left punch wide. Olsen’s blow lands squarely in Gomez’s chin and the actress quickly follows up with a left to Selena’s cheek, knocking her backwards. Lizzie getting more traction, punishing Selena’s body before turning her attention to the singer’s face. Olsen fires off a left that Gomez barely dodges and the singer comes back with a stiff left to the face, then dips in to bury a right into Olsen’s body that forces a grunt out of the brunette. Elizabeth wraps her arms around Selena moments before the bell. Both girls show some signs of the fight as they slowly make their ways back to their respective corners. The judges decide that Gomez edges out the round, close.

Round 6:

The sixth round starts with the two girls circling each other, each girl feinting in the hopes of getting her opponent to fall for the bait, but the two fighters are restrained. Gomez is slowly but surely beginning to come out ahead, landing punches with increasing regularity as she works Olsen backwards. Lizzie shifts left and sticks a right into Selena’s chin, briefly stunning the singer. Elizabeth shoots out another right that catches Selena in her nose and now it’s the singer who’s backing off. Olsen advances, feinting high as Gomez covers her face and the Avenger plunges a right into Selena’s body that punches the air out of her lungs and nearly has the younger woman bent double! Selena pulls herself back up as she covers her head and gives up her body wholesale, and Olsen goes to town. Lizzie buries rights and lefts into Selena’s body. Selena tries to counterpunch, throwing out a desperation right, but Olsen sidesteps it and drives a left into Gomez’s solar plexus and down goes the singer in a heap. Elizabeth backs off as the ref starts his count. Selena is clutching her body, slowly writhing in pain on the canvas, unable to get to her feet before the count gets to ten. It may not have been a pretty win, but Elizabeth Olsen defeats Selena Gomez by KO6!

After:

Lizzie breathes a sigh of relief as she waves to the crowd, then goes over to check in on Selena once the Lioness Club’s fight staff has tended to her. The two girls exchange pleasant words, smiling, before the two go their separate ways.

“Selena had me early – props to her.” Olsen tells the press afterwards. “But I didn’t give up and managed to get the win. It wasn’t easy and it wasn’t clean. But you take those.” Olsen pauses, thinks about whether or not she has anything else to say, and she apparently does not as she gets up and leaves the press.

Gomez is even more terse in her statement to the media, just saying, “I had Lizzie where I wanted her. And I couldn’t finish the job. I just couldn’t finish her off.”
