Charlize Theron versus Alicia Witt (Cougar)

Results: Lookout! - Words: Front Street

BEFORE:

Witt one of the more interesting stories of the FCBA. Broke in late in 2008, at age 33, after being signed by the Kruzhers, and beat Elizabeth Rohm in her first bout. Witt then wrapped a loss to Nadia Bjorlin around wins over Zeta-Jones and, um, The GOAT herself before, curiously, being booked in a "Loser Leaves The Kruzhers" bout against Laura Prepon. Witt lost and was fired. Several months later, she fought a rematch with Rohm, got stopped in the first round, and has never graced an FCBA ring since. Got to be some bitterness there, even after all these years, and, tonight, she gets a chance to take out a decade of frustration on The Golden Goddess. "Obviously, I don't blame Charlize for what happened to me. But. She's the girl who's going to be in front of me tonight. So. There you are."

"Always liked Alicia," The GOAT says with a smile. "Good fighter. No idea why management gave up on her. But, that's in the past. Tonight, we have a fight. And, I plan to win it."

ROUND ONE:

Witt aggressively after the blonde. Redhead's clearly been studying hard for this one, because she's quickly able to penetrate Theron's defenses and start backing her up with hard combinations. Alicia looks like anything but a woman who's been absent from the FCBA since December, 2009. She's moving well, getting punches off in bunches, and looking every bit as good at 44 as she did at 33. GOAT seems disorganized. Surprised by the early aggression. Not sure how to deal with it. She's giving ground, playing defense, firing back in spots, but, there's no question the redhead is taking the fight to her, and the blonde can't seem to find a way to slow that down. When the bell rings, there's little doubt about it. Witt has taken the round wide and grabbed the early 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Theron getting the lay of the land now. She's getting the jab on target, using that to keep Alicia from coming forward behind her own left as Witt did in the first. Result is ranged boxing, and, of course, there are few fighters in the history of the FCBA who've done that better than the Golden Goddess. Witt, however, shows quickly she can hold her own on these terms. Watching the redhead, one begins to wonder what might have been. Witt, of course, was a child actress, but really came to fame in 1995 at age 20. What might have happened had she begun in the FCBA closer to its 1999 birth? At 24 or 25 instead of 33? What might have happened if there had been no "Loser Leaves The Kruzhers" bout in 2009. One has to wonder. Because the 44 year old Witt looks every bit as good as the 44 year old Theron while the two get their box on. At the bell, it's very close to Charlize. And we're even at 19.

ROUND THREE:

More ranged boxing, and both fighters looking good doing it. Theron with a bit of reach, but Witt offsetting that with angles. She's moving the feet well. Moving the head. Showing excellent athleticism and plenty of slickness. And, it's all being matched by The GOAT, who's looking like enjoying herself in there, getting her box on in a big way. Not a lot in it most of the way. Ladies fighting on even terms. Flurries coming, if not fast and furious, at least regularly. There's plenty of action and the fans and the purists have to be happy with what their seeing. Final thirty sees Witt get aggressive. She steps to, gets some heavy shot off, throws Charlize onto the defensive. Theron quickly rights the ship at the bell, but Alicia's late rally is enough to grab the points. And, the redhead is now on the lead again, this time 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Pattern set. Ladies going to box at range and do it very well. And, no one is going to gain much of an advantage on these terms, despite good, solid work on both counts. Redhead continues to impress by virtue of a decade out of the ring, while Theron, coming off a tough, physical loss, seems more than willing to play this out and trust her class to will out in the end. Some sharp shot lands throughout the fourth, but both blonde and redhead take the licking and keep on ticking. Nobody's hurt, and, in fact, rarely does anyone even take a backward step. Instead, a sharp punch is met with a sharp rejoinder and solid, slick work continues right up to the bell. When it rings, it's very, very close once again, but, it's the Golden Goddess who's gotten the better of things and evened the fight at 38.

ROUND FIVE:

Same again. Boxing at range. Both fighters slick and solid, showing plenty of skill and desire. Good shot landing, heads snapping back here and there. It's classy, classy stuff, and, once again, impressive stuff from Witt, whose career basically died aborning, against the greatest fighter in FCBA history. Two solid minutes, back and forth. Nobody able to get any kind of an advantage. Then. BOOM! Right hand, THERON and Alicia is HURT! Witt wobbles, nearly goes down, and the blonde lets the hands go, battering the redhead backward and DROPPING HER WITH A LEFT HOOK! Witt spills to her left side and Theron heads to a neutral corner. Alicia dazed, rolling to all fours at five. Crawling to the ropes and beginning the climb at eight, but, she's still climbing when the count passes her by. It's OVER! And your winner by KO5 is Charlize Theron!

AFTER:

Theron all smiles. "Yeah, this is still fun," she says, when the interviewer asks her about the grin. "Alicia is still a challenge. She knows what she's doing in there. Shame she never got a real chance in the FCBA. But, it was great getting in the ring with her, and I can't wait for my next fight."
