Emma Watson vs Kiernan Shipka

BEFORE:
This fight was supposed to take place sometime last year till Emma Watson defied the odds and won the Flyweight straps from Kristen Stewart. Now, the Vixen finds herself back in the hunt and ready to take on all comers.

"I keep my promises. Kiernan's camp has been clamouring for a fight since last year but there was just no way I was gonna give her a title shot back then - the girl’s good but she just wasn't good enough, but I guess we'll see how hungry she is tonight," Emma says with a grin.

Emma is still trying to shake off that brutal loss to Olivia Holt at the start of this year, and all eyes will definitely be her tonight to see if her spirit's still intact. Kiernan on the other hand is brimming with confidence at the press table, smiling and waving energetically as she entered the room earlier. The American hasn't fought since last year, and is also coming off a disappointing loss to Isabela Moner, who stopped her hot streak back in July.

"The truth of the matter is I needed some time to readjust and reevaluate my strategy. When Emma offered to fight me last year, I thought I had been given another opportunity to prove myself. But then, she went ahead and beat Stewart instead, and I've been waiting to fight her ever since. I think I have power and youth on my side. I also think I’m hungrier to prove that I can win."

Ladies give a show of respect as they pose on stage, facing off with their fists cocked at each other’s chins but otherwise no disrespectful gestures or insults. Kiernan may be younger but Emma will be bringing her four-inch height advantage and experience to bear.

Almost 24 hours later we’re back in the ring, with Kiernan making final preparations in her corner, wearing a black bra strap and white trunks for bottoms. She's stretching in red gloves. In the other corner, Emma wears a red-lace bralette for her top, black gym shorts and a pair of yellow gloves on either hand. Referee waves for the bell and HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
Slow start as these two girls circle for a while before they begin unleashing punches on each other’s guard once in range, Emma in particular a little shocked at Kiernan’s aggression as the Brit takes a stiff hand to the sternum before almost getting her head blasted off from another straight hand aimed high. Kiernan may be four inches shorter but she ain’t planning on getting bullied in there, mixing up her jab combos with power straights sent towards Watson’s lips, then ending off with tight hooks designed to stun the Vixen on her exposed body. Emma’s groaning but also covering up well, retreating past the middle mark of the round whilst controlling Kiernan with her longer reach. Still, it’s quite a sight to see the former champ get controlled like this, and the round ends in Shipka’s favour for just taking full control.

ROUND 2:
More of the same as Emma just can’t find a workaround to Kiernan’s power, the smaller blonde planting her feet and then torquing another cold one into Emma’s arms whenever she tries to get in close. Watson learns her lesson soon enough, however, when she’s bent over by another hook banging off her tummy, Kiernan stepping in fast and trying to put the Brit onto her back if not for Watson’s quick draw of arms inwards, blocking a follow-up uppercut before it could crash into her chin. Ladies instead take turns rocking each other to the side of the head in some close-ranged hooks thrown, but ultimately, it’s Emma who gets pushed back a whole lot more than the younger blonde, with more on the line to lose than her hungrier counterpart.

ROUND 3:
Things aren’t looking good for the Vixen if she’s having this much trouble putting away a Free Agent like Kiernan. It’s not all bad news from the start, however, as Watson keeps her distance and pounds away at the younger girl’s guard from a distance, only shaking it up with a cross or two that’s aimed at the face especially when Shipka charges in to brawl. Kiernan gets frustrated like this as a third such combo stings her clean on the nose and lips - she curses out loud but wades in regardless, trapping Emma with speed on the ropes and then sending a left-right gut-check into her body before wailing on her guard with close hooks again. Watson’s groaning in the pocket, but knows better than to stay put and take the abuse, quickly slips out from the wild melee and stays away for the remainder of the round. Though she took these three minutes for herself, we wouldn’t say it’s something to write home about.

ROUND 4:
Indeed, thus far these rounds seem close, even-sided affairs, with both girls making up for their lost opportunity back in 2019 with more than enough action tonight. Kiernan uses her youthful stamina to charge Emma down repeatedly, sensing the potential for a thorough upset if she manages to even knock the British actress down onto her ass. But Emma’s just too focused and calm this early in the fight, parries one of Kiernan’s hands out of the way before slapping her own leather into the face, and then another and another jabs slams into her nostrils as the Vixen finally mounts a comeback! Kiernan’s grunting but doesn’t go backwards too far, spooks Watson suddenly with a lunging hook to the face, but Watson deftly steps to the side to avoid, then buries a left hand into Shipka’s side, stopping her resurgence dead in its tracks. Girls end the round dead even in terms of overall points, with neither really outshining the other thus far.

ROUND 5:
Kiernan digs deep and continues her rapid assault, troubling Emma to her arms and body with a fast barrage that stuns the Brit to her system, but none so damning as the follow-up hook that’s sunk into her belly, folding Emma over with an ouuufff, her pretty head then turned to the side when Shipka plants a lasting goodnight kiss of leather to her face! OWW! But that last blow lacked some power, with Kiernan tired out from four rounds of constant chasing and thus allowing Emma to recuperate briefly by the ropes. Watson looks even more angry than hurt, comes back into the fray almost immediately and shows off some of that championship spirit as she dodges and weaves around more of Kiernan’s combos. The Brit lets out a shout as she scores with a straight hand of her own sunk into the middle of Shipka’s face! Ughh! And it’s Kiernan’s turn to sputter and shake on the spot, going into retreat mode as the two girls continue to take turns chasing each other down until the bell rings.

ROUND 6:
Kiernan really needs a breather to finish off the second half of this fight, but unfortunately, Emma Watson’s still brimming with leftover energy and not about to grant her any opening. Here comes Emma, hot and merciless on the heels of Kiernan, her lefts and rights finding clear openings as she pokes and prods at the many holes in Shipka’s defences, the American left groaning and stumbling back mid-minute as she struggles to right a sinking ship. But Watson’s too laser-focused to give up the chase now, SLAMS another cross hand into the lips with a deep growl, before PLOWING her textbook right into Shipka’s chin! POW! DOWN SHE GOES! Shipka absolutely floored by that wicked right hand, and a KNOCKDOWN scored for Ms Emma Watson, who still has the technical skills of a champion as she puts away the newcomer in six rounds! Kiernan left laid out on her back throughout the 10-count, her eyes squeezed shut and both arms laid to rest over her head! The ref rings for the bell!

Official Decision: Emma Watson defeats Kiernan Shipka via KO6!

AFTER:
Redemption for Watson tonight, not because there was any bad blood between these two ladies, but more validation for the Brit’s pride, who shows everyone that she still can fight in the ring even though she’s no longer the champion. Watson half-raising a hand to acknowledge her cheering fans, then hovers by the ropes with a big smile before quickly heading over to Shipka’s corner to check on her status.

Shipka still on the brink of tears as she’s seated by the ropes, but then gratefully accepts the British actress’ offer of a hand and gets pulled up for an embrace. The two ladies promise to meet again in the future for a rematch before Watson heads back to her corner, where fellow teammate Luisa Lopilato pats her on the back with two open arms.

“Kiernan’s got a bright future in the ring, and she’s got the power and prowess to back it up. I stand by what I said earlier about her being a future champion someday. Just not tonight,” Emma smirks as she speaks to reporters later on by ring-side. “As for what’s next on the horizon for me, I don’t have any clue yet. I hear a few names getting tossed around: a rematch with Sarah Shahi or Natalie herself… Also, I hear that dear Lily needs another spanking. Who really knows?” Emma shrugs as she lets out a little laugh. “For now, I just want to take a hot bubble bath!”
