Michelle Williams vs. Scarlett Johansson

Results: Lookout!, Story: Front Street

BEFORE:

Pair of elite blonde flyweights who've met before...but not since 2011, when Mishy took the flyweight title from ScarJo. Williams has the lead in the all-time series, but there's no question Johansson's on quite the run. Not that Michelle is concerned about that. "She's not as good as I am," Williams says with a smirk. "Then again, no one IS."

"I've beaten her smug ass before," spits Scarlett. "And, I'm about to do it again."

ROUND ONE:

Michelle establishing the jab early, because she wants range. Hall of Famer plans to box this evening. And, why wouldn't she? Since, you know, Mishy planning to box is a lot like Lombardi planning to run the Packer sweep over and over again. If she can enforce those terms, well. Good for Mishy. Bad for YOU. And, in the first, she can enforce those terms. Williams' left is the key to everything. She keeps it in ScarJo's face, controls her with it. The younger blonde can't get out of neutral for the first two minutes. Then, it gets worse. She can't get out of REVERSE. Because, in the final minute, Williams ups the ante, stepping in behind the left and committing on some hard right hands. Now, ScarJo's completely on the defensive and taking a beating right to the bell. When it rings? Mishy wide and up 10-9.

ROUND TWO:

Williams in control early. She's backed off the throttle and gotten back to boxing. And, ScarJo still can't find a way to get going. Instead, Michelle builds combinations off the accurate jab, piles up points, keeps her rival on the defensive. Things change a bit around mid-round. Johansson starts getting off some. She's finding spots and openings and taking advantage of them, showing some effectiveness in counter. Michelle still fighting lead, still scoring well, but it's two-way stuff now. And, late in the round, some serious exchanges develop with both fighters landing hard shot. Nobody's hurt, but consider everyone's attention gotten, especially in the final exchange at the bell that sends sweat flying and heads snapping back. When it rings, Mishy's got the round again and she's now up 20-18.

ROUND THREE:

More two-way stuff. ScarJo starting to get going now, and Mishy's been going the whole time. The Hall of Famer is still working the jab, still using it to control, but Johansson doing a better job of avoiding or blocking now, giving her opportunities to get to spots and get off. Younger blonde not looking to close and bang, or not able to, at least at this point, but she's able to box with and do it on pretty even terms. In fact, ScarJo gets stronger as the round goes on, getting more done in the second minute than the first, and then gaining a clear advantage in the final sixty seconds. Michelle thrown to the defensive a couple of times over that minute by hard, accurate combinations. And, when the bell rings, that final third plays. ScarJo has done enough to claim the points and cut Michelle's lead to 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

BOOM! Boom? BOOM! Seconds into the round, the complexion of the fight changes with one punch, a perfectly placed left hand from Scarlett and MISHY IS HURT! Williams wobbles, covers up, and ScarJo goes all in! She's winging away with both hands, driving her rival back into the ropes, and then having at her to head and body. Williams in a tight guard, putting the body on sale, trying to roll with and ride this thing out. Scarlett digging tummy and ribs in spots, but mostly buffeting the Hall of Famer with heavy shot, actually sending her stumbling along the ropes once with a hard left hook. Ref looking in, but Mishy doing just enough to keep him from stopping the thing. Looks, several times, like he'll have to do so before the bell rings, but, when it does, Williams is still standing. ScarJo, though, has pitched the shutout and evened things at 38.

ROUND FIVE:

ScarJo rampant. She's battering Mishy around the ring as Williams desperately plays defense and tries to slow this thing down. But Johansson won't be slowed. The younger blonde is getting off lusty, punishing her rival, piling up hurt as well as points, all while looking for the finish. This, at least, Michelle is able to deny her, at least for the moment. Williams isn't doing much on offense, but the Hall of Famer IS managing to block and slip some of the heavy fire coming her way. It isn't until the final minute, though, when Mishy begins to stabilize her front, at least to a point, and to begin getting some offense going. By then, of course, it's much too late to matter on the cards. But, at least it means the Hall of Famer has ridden out the storm. When the bell rings, it's ScarJo wide and up 48-47.

ROUND SIX:

Much more even at the start of this stanza. Williams has the jab going now, and she's got the legs back. ScarJo boxing with, finding spots, getting off in combination. BOOM! Right hand, MICHELLE! And, now Scarlett is hurt! And Mishy is at WORK. Williams methodically walking ScarJo down behind the jab, backing her up, punishing her with nasty leather to both head and body. Oh, it's clinical. And, it's also classic Mishy. She's got the prey hurt, and now, she's moving in for the kill. Scarlett, however, taking the licking and continuing to tick. She's backed to the ropes late in the round, but, while Michelle is clearly giving her a thumping, Johansson doesn't look like going down and the ref doesn't seem ready to put an end to things. When the bell rings, it's Mishy wide, though, and we're even again, this time at 57.

ROUND SEVEN:

Michelle still in control. ScarJo still looking buzzed, and Williams continuing to pressure, committing on punches, looking to both hurt and finish. Scarlett able to bang back in spots until, BOOM! Short right, MISHY, and ScarJo is hurt AGAIN! Now, there's no clinic, just a buzz saw from Williams who's determined to end it and DOWN GOES SCARJO! A straight right hand sends the younger blonde crashing to her back. Mishy throws the hands over her head in triumph, then heads to a neutral corner. ScarJo wide eyed, staring up at the referee as the numbers get bigger and bigger. Eventually manages to roll to her belly at seven, push up to all fours at nine, but it's too late. The count passes her by! It's OVER! And your winner by KO7 in comeback fashion is Michelle Williams!

AFTER:

Michelle looking like someone who's been in a fight. But, not talking like someone who's been in a fight. "It's like I said," the Hall of Famer says, dismissively. "She's simply not as good as me. This isn't the first time I've proven it. And, if she wants to get in with me again, it won't be the LAST."
