TESS VALMORE

Once more the fans packed the Asylum hoping to see sixty rounds of celebrity boxing. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your outlook, they didn’t get 60 rounds. Instead of seeing 180 minutes, they got less than 69 as the Front Street power house demolished their opponents in short order.

Del Toro remained unbeaten as her right hand disposed of Hathaway halfway thought the fifth round. Del Toro remains unbeaten.

It took Bennet almost six rounds to beat Beetz, which was three rounds more than I thought it would take her. She should be in line for a title match, but this win against a newbie isn’t going to help her.

McMann KOed Dumont in the fifth. I feel sorry for McMann. She the new lightweight, but she is sitting behind Perry, Arterton and King who promises to run Arterton and Perry off their roosts. McMann is going to be in the fourth spot for a long time.

Donnelly won her bout over Saldana in three, making it a sweep for the Front Street newcomers.

Perry had a mismatch in her bout with Renee, who was a newcomer to the FCBA. Of course, she won in two. As you probably know, Perry and I are not exactly best buddies. Far from it. It chaps my butt having to go up into the ring and interview her after one of her gimmies. I’d rather punch her in the face than interview her. I’m going to ask The Wiz to have Cassandra Lynn do the job.

Finally, Kat Dennings, who had the most dangerous opponent of the night looked good in beating Munn. That could boost her chances of a title match.

I didn’t go to dinner with the Wiz and Smackey as usual, but I had dinner with Cassandra Lynn, Charlize and JMac, That’s another story for another time.

Since this is the final card of the month, there have been 357 conventional fights. How many ended in knockouts? 355 as there was another decision is June.

Six fighters made their debut in June bringing the number of rookies to 34.
