Tonight’s welterweight action sees a collision of two Sports Illustrated models, with Danielle Herrington of the Global Boxing Syndicate having her inaugural match against Hannah Davis of Fates. Herrington more relaxed than most girls at their first press conference, not intimidated by the flashing cameras and recorders.

“Well, it’ll be great to be out in the ring, I can tell you that,” Danielle answers when asked about it being her first fight. “But this is more than just about my first fight. I want to win, and that means that whether she likes it or not, Hannah’s going to be on the ground at the end of our fight.”

Davis scoffs, “Oh please, you don’t even have a fight to your name and haven’t even been on the cover of SI, unlike me. Now, you are right about there being one model standing above the other at the end of the night, but it’s going to be me. Not you.”

Come time for the fight, Herrington is the first girl out of the back, and her rookie status is announced. The crowd cheers for the rookie fighter as she makes her way to the ring. Herrington, true to her SI heritage, has gone with a blue bikini with yellow straps and yellow gloves to match, her hair up in a ponytail for the fight. Davis comes out seconds later, the former covergirl staring intently at the newbie fighter. Hannah quickly slips under the top rope and takes off her robe to reveal a tight fighting pink bikini set with matching gloves, her hair in a bun. Hannah pounds her chest and steps into Danielle’s face – but the rookie isn’t backing down, and once it’s clear the two girls aren’t going to touch gloves, the ref simply just asks for the bell and the fight gets underway.

Round 1:

Herrington goes right for Davis early, churning out lefts and rights with nothing held back, catching the more experienced fighter by surprise and landing two solid blows into the Caribbean girl’s face. Davis drops backwards and Herrington quickly closes the gap, shooting out a right hook that Hannah merely dodges and leaves Danielle exposed. Hannah steps up and slams one, two, three punches into Danielle’s face early and Herrington’s covering up her face and getting plowed back into the ropes! Davis takes advantage as Herrington sacrifices her body and the SI covermodel thumps Danielle’s ribs and chest with rights and lefts as Danielle struggles to wrap her up in response. Hannah smashes two more rights into Danielle’s face before the rookie finally gets the clinch and forces a break. The referee gets the two girls separated and out of the break, Herrington keeps her distance, warding Davis off with her jabs, making good contact on a couple, but nowhere near what Hannah did early on. The round comes to an end and Hannah Davis takes the opening frame wide against the rookie fighter.

Round 2:

Herrington more cautious as she leaves her corner for this round, but she’s still the one initiating the offense early on thanks to her reach. Danielle jabs at Hannah, keeping the smaller girl at arms’ length for the first minute as the rookie slips a pair of blows past Hannah’s guard. Herrington getting more aggressive as the round continues in the second minute, lunging with a big right that Davis neatly sidesteps before pounding a left into Danielle’s mouth, snapping the younger girl’s head backwards. Hannah quickly thumps Danielle’s chest with two rights as the rookie is forced to drop backwards. Davis making good work of Herrington’s body, but Danielle isn’t making it easy, popping lefts and right responses into Hannah’s body, but the Caribbean stunner always gets the better of the trades, as Danielle’s over-eager to hit her opponent. The bell rings and it’s another round to Hannah, but closer this time.

Round 3:

Both models start out by circling each other, trading jabs as Danielle curbs her aggression and takes the advice of the GBS staff. Herrington keeping her jabs clean and starts to get the better end of the trades, working Davis backwards and landing a solid right to her mouth. Hannah drops backwards and as Danielle closes the gap, Hannah steps forward and delivers a big shot into Herrington’s liver, drawing a groan out of the rookie. Davis working the short range game as this fight turns into a more of an all-out fight, better suiting Hannah from her JMDD experience, and she makes sure to thump Danielle’s rack as she works over Herrington’s body. Davis getting the better of the exchanges and shifts her focus to Danielle’s head, trying to smash through her guard, but the younger model keeps her gloves up and nails Hannah’s nose with a right as the round comes to an end. The round’s deemed a draw – but with each passing round, Herrington makes a better showing.

Round 4:

Herrington hanging back again and Davis goes after the GBS fighter, looking to shift the momentum back into her favor. Hannah lands a right into Danielle’s mouth early, knocking the bigger girl backwards. Davis follows up with a pair of body shots before returning her focus to Herrington’s head as she smashes a left into Danielle’s guard, shifts right, and gets her head snapped backwards as Danielle connects with a big right, staggering Davis! Hannah brings her gloves up but she’s a split second too late as Danielle connects with a follow-up left that swivels Hannah’s head and the smaller model is all about the retreat right now, and Herrington’s relentlessly following her. Herrington finding her groove, laying into Davis’ body and the Caribbean girl doesn’t seem to have any responses until she is forced into the ropes and she works short, quick punches into the other model’s body as the time in the fourth expires. Herrington keeps on coming on strong as she takes the fourth, wide.

Round 5:

This time, Danielle doesn’t hold back at the start and she goes right for Hannah with big rights and lefts, targeting Hannah all over, from her head to her body until Herrington plunges leather into Davis’ solar plexus and Hannah is hurt! Davis gurgles as Herrington’s strike makes contact and the cover model instinctively covers her body and Herrington’s eyes light up. Danielle drills a right into Hannah’s nose and snaps the Caribbean girl’s head backwards and follows up with a left cross that nearly drops Davis! Hannah lunges out at Danielle and whiffs badly, leaving herself open as she turns back to Herrington to take one, two, three big punches right to her jaw and Davis drops to the canvas! Herrington quickly goes to her corner and the ref takes one look at Davis and calls the fight! Your winner by KO5, Danielle Herrington!

After:

Herrington proudly raises her arms and she parades around the ring while the medical staff swarms Davis, who hasn’t moved since she got knocked down. The rookie enjoying the cheering crowd as she wins her inaugural fight before heading out of the ring, all while Hannah still hasn’t gotten up.

“I said that I wanted to win, and that’s what I did tonight,” Danielle tells the press afterwards. “I don’t know how long Hannah stayed down for, but that’ll teach her not to mess with me. Now, who is going to be my next victim?” Herrington leaves the press with that short, but meaningful post-fight comment after her win. Now the question is – what does the future hold in store for this younger fighter?
