4. Kate Beckinsale vs Keri Russell (Cougar Bout)

BEFORE:
Another Cougar bout on the cards as Kate Beckinsale continues to make her mark both inside the ring as a competent brawler and outside the ring as VIX's General Manager.

"I'd say we've all kicked arse tonight. Poor Kyra's still a little disappointed when I saw her backstage, but I have no doubt we've proven once again why the Vixens are here to stay," Kate speaks from the press table with a nod. "As for my opponent tonight, I've certainly enjoyed her work on the small screen. I'm also honoured she accepted our request to box. Russell's had some experience before in the FCBA, but really, it's her tremendous physique that told us this would be a good match-up. Of course, I hope to win. But it's also my job to wish her the best of luck."

Keri smiling equally gracious from the other end of the table, looking stunning for her age with her youthful face framed by auburn hair.

"I'd like to thank Kate for inviting me here, and more importantly, for paying me money to punch her face in. Whichever way this goes, it's going to be a fun fight when you get two competitive cougars into the same ring."

Ladies shake hands and share a brief embrace after posing for the cameras at the podium. 24 hours later, they're in their respective corners of the ring. ring. Kate in a classic black and white Vogue bikini, donning orange gloves by the ropes. Keri on the other end, blue and white striped sailor’s bikini top and bottoms, complete with red gloves. Referee calls for the bell and HERE we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
Hell will freeze over indeed if Kate Beckinsale wins her Hall-of-Fame spot, with the veteran fighter and newest Vixen all the more determined to try and upset the rest of the FCBA world. Keri Russell however not planning on making things easy, employing surprising speed to batter and hammer in shots to Kate’s face before the head honcho can react in time. Kate is not looking good as we start this contest off, desperately trying to intercept punches with her arms but unable to keep up with the steady stream of Keri’s jabs. Russell perhaps thinks to herself: why didn’t she get into this earlier given her excellent agility and stamina as she dodges Kate’s return hooks with ease. Round ends and all she’s suffered is the occasional punt to the nose which managed to slip in unannounced.

ROUND 2:
Russell still looks hot as she kicks up the pressure, pushing into Beckinsale and determined to score an upset. Perhaps she’s got more to prove here with her lack of experience and younger vitality, driving Kate across the ring and back with a constant barrage of jabs and then ending with a hook to the arms. Kate in defensive mode, taking the abuse and not dishing out much else - maybe she’s biding her time to strike but from an outsider’s perspective, she’s getting massacred and pushed around in there so far. Round ends and Beckinsale is already breathing hard, but a small smile creeps across her face as she makes her way back to the corner. Not sure why but something tells us this fight is far from over.

ROUND 3:
Here we go with a mad blitz of punches flung both ways! Keri’s the one grunting and shouting with surprise as Kate leaps forward early and jams a left hand clean into her face, and then another swing towards the head rattles her guard with force. Keri of course not giving any ground either, planting her feet and ROARING back with her own brand of power. Ladies go at each other in the center of the ring for a good minute, taking turns swiping leather across cheeks, covering up to block whatever they can, before they return fire again. Keri however gets pushed back from her early two rounds of dominance, now running out of steam as Kate overpowers her with force and energy, bashing straight hands clean into the middle of her arms and lips as she drives Russell back until the bell rings.

ROUND 4:
THIS is the resurgent Beckinsale we’ve been waiting for as Kate roars in to pick off where she left off: Keri forced into her own defensive measures as the punches sent towards her head and body begin to pick up, Kate matching her foe’s aggression with some of her own as she squeezes some lightning hands past the arms and into the chin. Russell does her best to adapt, arms up but gets her abs battered by more lefts and rights. The American actress tries to return fire with a right hand cross to head face, but Kate weaves out of instinct to the side, manages to dodge it before grazing Russell with another hook to the face. Both ladies are panting hard as they round the round down, arms up but their chests heaving from the exertion, lips slightly parted as they effectively even the score within these four rounds.

ROUND 5:
Keri pushes herself forward - one last huzzah to capture the first two round’s glory. But if she’s expecting Kate to lie over and die, she’s wrong, and another mad-cap exchange of straights sunk into the face happens within the first minute, both ladies exchanging grunts and squeals as they try to focus fire on whatever targets they spot. Keri pulls back to land a hook to Kate’s face but she’s too slow, misses wide as Kate ducks and comes in too close - the Vixen roars as she LIFTS Keri’s head with a solid uppercut to the jawline! There she goes!! It’s over as Keri stumbles back, eyes squeezed shut in a daze before she collapses down onto her butt! It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Kate Beckinsale!!

Look of worry on her face morphed from celebration as Kate returns to her corner looking satisfied with her performance thus far, but Keri’s struggling to get back to her feet from that last number to her head. Russell is definitely conscious but her head’s swirling like a trapeze artist, each time she tries to rise back to her feet she gets shot down by the dizziness, returning to her knees with a dull groan. Referee has no choice but to terminate the fight after he hits the count of 10!! It’s over!!

Official Decision: Kate Beckinsale defeats Keri Russell via KO5!

AFTER:
Somewhere backstage, nemesis Jenny McCarthy letting out a shriek of outrage as another win’s notched on Beckinsale’s belt, the Vixen now a mere five fights away from possible being enshrined within the Hall of Fame. Beckinsale all heart, however, quickly eschewing her celebration and moving over to comfort Russell.

Keri gets checked by the medics for a concussion but is conscious enough to smile at Kate, hovering above her. The two ladies show the rest of the roster how it’s done, putting aside their egos to put on a grand show in tonight’s co-main event!
