VIX: CLASH IN THE CLOUDS @ THE DETROIT OLYMPIA

5. Georgia Mae Gibbs vs Amanda Cerny III

Georgia:
(23, 5’10, 21:8 FCBA, VIXENs)

Amanda:
(29, 5’7, 7:6 FCBA, Free Agent)

BEFORE:
A rubber match in the making as we enter the co-main event of the evening: Georgia Mae Gibbs fighting a recently released Amanda Cerny in classic blonde versus brunette action. Gibbs of course winning their first bout all the way back in 2018 when she debuted, only to get jugged out by a resurgent Cerny a year later. Tonight, the Vixen is banking on the fact that her opponent getting fired is sure to fry some elements of her psyche and send her into a downward spiral.

“Heh. Don’t bet on it,” Cerny speaks first from the press table. “Georgia’s looking for scraps at the table but she’s gonna get a mouthful of leather, I can tell ya that!” Amanda smiles as she flexes a bicep for the audience.

Gibbs on the other side of the table growing red-faced before replying.

“I’d like to see you try, Amanda. It’s a shame your stable let you go - was it because you haven’t been winning any matches? Doesn’t matter - by the end of tonight, I’ll prove why I’m the one still in employment.”

Ladies meet at the center podium for the official staredown, and unfortunately we were too early with our praise of non-violence tonight. Georgia continues to smirk and shade the bigger brunette, only to get TACKLED in half as Amanda dips her shoulders and SPEARS the blonde in two! BLAM!! Both girls hit the floor hard and rain punches on each other whilst wrapped up in arms and legs. Georgia of course takes the brunt of it after getting surprise-attacked like that. It’s only a minute later when the officials manage to pry both women apart, Gibbs holding her midsection as she scowls backstage, whereas Cerny has a look of pride and satisfaction on her face as she gestures rudely to the Vixen.

Hours later, the tension hasn’t lifted inside the ring, with both ladies pacing anxiously in their corners, awaiting the start of the bell. Gibbs in a cotton set of bra and laced panties, holding up black gloves, her long blonde hair braided out back. Amanda in a red bikini top, white boxing shorts, banging black gloves together as she gestures for Gibbs to do her worst. Referee signals for the bell and HERE we go with ten rounds of Lightweight action!

ROUND 1:
Gibbs all geared up for a showdown against another top Lightweight at the end of this month when she faces off against Emily DiDonato, but first, she has to put away Amanda Cerny and boy does she put in the effort in the very first round, the Vixen dancing forward and back in fast-paced footwork as she slaps leather into every inch of the recent Free Agent. Cerny built bulkier, of course, and she managed to fell the Vixen the last time they fought with well-placed hooks that sent her off her feet like a candle in the wind. Here, it’s a repeated clash of styles as Gibbs moves in like a blur, with Amanda taking slow, cautious steps forward to try and break her dance. First round goes clear to the Vixen, however as Gibbs simply lands more than her fair share of punches by comparison.

ROUND 2:
Cerny no longer plays around, however as she begins to land her big bombs, first to Georgia’s arms and then tougher swings into her lean body, landing counter-shots whenever Gibbs gets brazen and bites off more than she can chew in the early exchanges. Georgia lets out groans, grunts as her body takes a beating, with Amanda swinging low hooks into her sides with nice shots to the belly whenever Gibbs tries to fire a combo up at her head. Cerny’s known for her resilience, after all, no amount of jabbing combos is gonna faze her terribly as the brunette continues to rack up points whilst pushing the blonde backwards all the way to the bell.

ROUND 3:
Slightly more cautious approach as those bruises on her body only start to form after Gibbs returns to corner. The Aussie girl is gnashing her teeth as she sallies forward again, hoping to avoid the mistakes of the last round. Cerny not making things easy, of course, more tight swings and swishes towards her head as she tries to catch Gibbs with a lucky hook across the chin and send her down early. Georgia doing better in the second half, avoiding the hooks altogether and then pounding back with jabs to the face as she continues to chip away at Cerny’s armour. Last few seconds and Georgia stings the brunette’s chest as well with a left-right combo before leaping back outta the way of an incoming hook. Round swings to Georgia’s side as a result as Cerny looks outmatched and outclassed in there.

ROUND 4:
That is - until Cerny employs her own fight-from-a-distance strategy, tagging the blonde with her own artillery as she sends in long, strapping straight hands direct into the arms but occasionally aimed at Georgia’s head, each blow landing smack into the guard and threatening to throw the Vixen off balance. Georgia is letting out loud yelps of frustration as she can’t compete with the bulkier girl’s power, all she can do is retreat and bound away to evaluate her next approach. Amanda seen smirking behind her arms, her plan of slowly suffocating the Vixen coming to fruition as she slowly crowds in close to the blonde’s space, mixing up her jabs with crosses and hooks and almost manages to trap Georgia on the ropes at one point before she ducks and swerves, getting the hell outta that pocket before she’s knocked down.

ROUND 5:
Cerny already with a recent loss under her belt, falling to recently signed Dua Lipa in what she calls “a betrayal of the highest order”. Well, she has another chance to prove that she belongs in the ring for the future tonight, again shocking Georgia to her guard, then a sharp punt to the body with a suddenly dipped fist, drawing a loud OUMPH from Georgia’s lips before almost taking her head off with a bangin’ right hook. Georgia still has little answer to her opponent’s stopping power, especially in close quarters, and her only hope might be to let Amanda overextend herself in the coming rounds. Not the best strategy, of course, but it’s all she can do at this point in order to stay alive. Rest of the round sees more jabs exchanged from afar, with both women landing mutual shots to the face and Georgia struggling to slip out of the way of the more devastating impacts.

ROUND 6:
Gibbs plays to her strengths, both her stamina and speed doing wonders to allow her to stay on her feet thus far despite Amanda’s best efforts. Cerny is clearly growing tired now, charging at the blonde a little less often and her swings growing a little more sluggish. Another mid-round clash as Georgia absorbs a few clubbing blows to her body, but her arms take the brunt of another slam into the side from Cerny, and Amanda thinks she’s got an opportunity here to score a knockdown as she pulls her hand back for a knockdown blow. But she gets thrown off balance instead when Gibbs swerves her head to the side to avoid the incoming hook, comes back with a bangin’ fist across the temple of her own as the Vixen swings for the fences and CONNECTS!! OUCH! Cerny seeing stars as she’s thrown backwards, more crunching shots landing to her nose and lips as she scrambles to cover. Suddenly, it’s ALL GEORGIA GIBBS as the Vixen rushes in to pound her fists on every part of her frame, with Cerny driven back into the ropes and having to weather the unexpected abuse till the last second! Gibbs lets out a roar as the bell rings to end the round, with the referee having to intervene and pull her back to her corner after a spectacular shutout performance! Cerny looks crestfallen and melted on the ropes, her shocked face poking out between bruised arms as she stumbles back to corner!

ROUND 7:
Well, it ain’t over yet. Georgia, we’re sure, would have liked to score a knockdown in that last round. Alas, she failed to put Cerny away and now the Free Agent has another chance at redemption. Another cautious start as the two girls stay at a safe distance at the bell, pawing and jabbing at each other without taking another risky leap inwards without assurance. It’s Cerny who feels the pressure to make up for points, however, as she steps in suddenly with a right-hand blast high, only to MISS again as Georgia’s ready for it, half-blocking, half-swerving the other way to slip around, BANGS her own fist up into the big girl’s chin once, then another cross-hand reaches in to STUN Amanda to the mouth… and DOWN THE BIG GIRL GOES!! That rapid exchange pays off for the Vixen as Georgia scores the first KNOCKDOWN of the evening! Cerny falls down to her side with a groan, eyes blinking up with surprise, mouth opening and closing for desperate air - the referee gives her till the count of 10 to recover but she barely makes it back to all fours! It’s all over!!

Official Decision: Georgia Mae Gibbs defeats Amanda Cerny via KO7!

AFTER:
“COME ‘ERE, b*tch!!” Gibbs roars as she rushes at her fallen adversary once the bell rings to further cement her victory. Cerny’s in for another world of shock as she’s hauled off her feet by the rabid Vixen, Georgia leaping straight onto her back and tugging her brown hair upwards with both hands.

Both corners of course in disarray as Amanda’s shouts their protests whilst the VIX side is egging their girl on. Gibbs is happy to oblige, helping Cerny to her feet and then kneeing her repeatedly in her tummy, all the while growling insults into her shocked face. After a minute or so of this treatment, Georgia shows some of her own power as she tosses the bigger woman back down to her side, Amanda left broken and sprawled in the center of the ring as she curls up into a ball.

Gibbs seals the deal tonight, and word is she’s ready to climb the Lightweight rankings after a series of important wins this year. For now, she raises her hands to the crowds, strutting back to her corner with a huge smile on her face, already looking forward to repeating her performance in two weeks.
