Intro:
The next fight in the Contenders 6 tournament here in Johannesburg's Ellis Park Arena sees Doutzen Kroes and Melissa Satta both look to stay in the hunt for the trophy.

Doutzen is 34 years old; she stands 5'10 and holds a record of 14 wins, 13 by knockout with 8 defeats, she is a former BBU lightweight champion.

Melissa is also 33 years old; she stands 5'9 ½ and holds a record of 10 wins, herself all by knockout and 2 defeats.

Georgie Thompson interviewed both women on a set, with Doutzen the first up as she hugged Georgie, both smiling warmly as they sit down ready to begin.

Doutzen is asked about how she feels she is doing in the tournament, with her replying "well it has been fun so far if nothing else, Bo (Krsmanovic) gave me a hiding in the end it has to be said, then I beat Jourdan (Dunn) who I think has a big upside, just she ain't good enough to be at my level yet, mixed I think is best way to describe it"

The subject turns to Melissa, with Doutzen telling Georgie "my lord is she talented! I remember when we held that public workout for the press when the tournament was announced, Melissa looked physically impressive, then I saw her box in the opening fight, she has great skills"

She continues "but that last fight showed that she is far from unbeatable, I've proven I am the elite around the BBU, so I have no fears stepping into that ring with her"

The final question is her chances of winning the tournament now, after thinking Doutzen answers "I have Alice Goodwin and Caroline Austin left to face after this, I believe I can beat both so I am still right in the running to win this, first thing though is beating Melissa though"

Who is next on the stool; nodding to Georgie as she sits down ready to begin, with the first question being the same as Doutzen.

But Melissa answers "I am not happy with myself after the last round of fights, the thing is for those who don't know, I'm used to tournament formats, I fought at national level in karate; winning multiple tournaments, the thing you remember is to shake off defeats as you move onto the next fight"

So what does she think her chances are against Doutzen? Grinning she replies "this was the fight I wanted in all the tournament, she is the only one to hold gold; if I can beat her then nobody can doubt my credentials to win this tournament and the title afterwards"

Georgie smiles as she asks if Melissa really is that confident of winning the tournament still, making the Italian look annoyed as she says "you're damn right I am, I was one of the favourites for a reason"

Fight night; Doutzen is out now with Nicole Ritchie by her side, she is waving to her fans as she jogs towards the ring, looking excited to get things started.

She is wearing an orange sports bra, matching trunks, gloves and shoes showing her national pride, while her blonde hair is also braided.

Climbing into the ring; Doutzen raises her right fist in the air and nods to the crowd as she gets a cheer, she begins shadow boxing to warm up as Nicole looks on happy with her fighter.

Now Melissa comes out with Henry Cavill by her side, as usual she looks all business as she heads down the aisle, eyes firmly set on the ring.

She is wearing a light blue sports bra, matching trunks with a green and red stripe up each side, blue shoes and gloves while her hair is in a ponytail.

Once she is in the ring she poses at the center of it, before nodding towards Doutzen to show some respect to her, then turns to her corner where Henry gives her a last minute pep talk.

The fighters are waved to the center of the ring; where they lock eyes as they shake their limbs to keep loose, neither looks to have any malice yet to their opponent as they touch gloves.

Once they head back to their corners; after getting their gumshields in both look ready to go as the bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.

Round 1:
Both women test each other out behind their jabs, dancing around their opponent as they look for angles to attack from.
Melissa looks to be the one to push the pace, missing with a right cross that Doutzen dances out the way of, the blonde landing two counter punches in reply.
The Dutch fighter is sticking and moving, maybe knowing that Melissa has the power advantage, so is wanting to work before moving out of Melissa's power punches.
But Melissa lands a double jab to the top of Doutzen's head, allowing her to close the gap to land a left/right body combination.
Doutzen though shows her experience, giving a little nudge with her left to the jugs of her opponent, before stepping out of trouble.
The jab of Doutzen is drilling into the cheeks of Satta, keeping the Italian stunner at range as Kroes looks impressive going into the final moments of the round.
The bell ringing to end a strong round for Doutzen, who sits on her stool chatting away with Nicole on what she felt good with.
Across the ring Melissa looks annoyed with herself, Henry gives her a pep talk to lift her spirits as one round doesn't make a fight.

Round 2:
Doutzen comes out strong; her stiff jab is finding a home too easily at the start of the round for the Sirens corner, leaving Melissa on the outside where she doesn't want to be.
Till Melissa shows good head movement to dodge the jab, she steps in closer to land a right cross that opens up Kroes to more punches across her face.
The Italian bashes Doutzen across her face to knock her onto the ropes, with Doutzen needing to clinch up as she clearly doesn't want to get pinned down by Satta.
But even as they are separated, Doutzen finds herself being put on the back foot by the aggressive Melissa, who is landing some hard shots straight into the face of the former champion.
The Lookout! Fighter is being forced around the outside of the ring, where she can only land several punches out of her guard.
When the bell rings Doutzen nods to Melissa, knowing that she lost that round comfortable, Nicole though tells her it's nothing to worry about as she sits down.
While the Sirens corner looks more happier, Henry happy with the reply from his fighter after a hard opening round.

Round 3:
Melissa looks to keep the pressure on Doutzen early, catching her with a left cross to open up the Dutch fighter to a follow up straight punch.
Doutzen is finding herself back where she was in the last round, being kept stuck near the ropes with Melissa controlling the action by cutting the ring off.
But as Melissa swings a right cross; Doutzen dips under it before she slams a right to the body, followed by an overhand left across the face of her opponent.
Now it's Doutzen coming back to the fore as she gets her distance to work from, showing her classy footwork to keep out the way of the bigger punches from Satta.
Who looks a little frustrated at being outboxed by her more experienced foe, Melissa can only land single punches cleanly, while missing with hooks that look to take the head off of Kroes.
Late in the round; Melissa manages to get in close after landing a straight punch, the fighters plant their feet as seconds tick away, giving the fans a cracking finish to the round.
Once that bell rings before women turn on their heels back to their corners, their faces are marking up nicely after a round both had success in.

Round 4:
As the round begins; Doutzen has her footwork flowing and her jab seems on point as she continues to frustrate Melissa, who can't seem to pin her down.
Melissa parries a straight punch so she can counter with a right to the body, the brunette gets in close range where she can bang away with her opponent.
Doutzen tries to open up space with a shove, that leads to her taking a hard right across her face though, ending up with Melissa driving her to the ropes with follow up punches to the face.
The blonde needs to cover up as Melissa turns her attention to working the body of Kroes, who tries to fight her way out of trouble.
Sweat flies off the head of Doutzen though as she takes a clubbing right to the side of her head, making her clinch up with Satta.
The referee breaks them apart; it is becoming clear though that Melissa is controlling this round as she is like the Terminator the way she is just keep coming forwards.
The bell rings with Doutzen wiping some blood from her nose, Melissa smirks at her before they head past each other to go to their corners.
Nicole looks annoyed as she reminds Doutzen to not got caught in a brawl with this girl, something Doutzen doesn't need telling as her nose is cleaned up.
Melissa meanwhile looks happy with her effort, she clearly respects Doutzen but the more success she has against her is building her confidence that she is better then the former lightweight champion.

Round 5:
Melissa as expected comes on the attack from the bell, forcing Doutzen back around the ring with straight punches reopening the bloody nose of the Dutch fighter.
Who tries to step in with a right hook; MELISSA STEPS BACK AND CATCHES DOUTZEN WITH A RIGHT ACROSS HER FACE, A LEFT ACROSS HER CHIN SENDS KROES DOWN TO HER BACK!
Melissa looks confident she has finished this as she heads to a neutral corner, 1...2...3...4.. Doutzen rolls to her front, shaking her head to clear it, 5...6...7...8.. Then surprises Melissa by shoving herself up to her feet with a little wobble to her step.
The referee checks on Doutzen, judging she can continue as Melissa comes out the corner looking to end this fight.
Doutzen is very defensive; looking to shake off the effects of the knockdown by keeping the distance from her opponent, who each time she gets near Doutzen clinches up with her.
Each failed charge looks to be making Melissa more annoyed, she can't get that knockout she wants, allowing Doutzen time to recover.
Late in the round Melissa backs up Doutzen towards the ropes, where she swings in a left hook; DOUTZEN DIPS UNDER IT BEFORE COMING UP WITH AN UPPERCUT TO WOBBLE MELISSA, A FOLLOW UP RIGHT HOOK SENDS MELISSA DOWN TO HER BACK!
The crowd can't believe it! Doutzen jogs over to the neutral corner looking hopeful she has ended this fight as the count begins.
1...2...3....4... Melissa looks up stunned, she rolls to her side as 5...6...7.. Pushing herself up to all fours, Melissa gives her head a shake 8...9.. She beats the count!
Doutzen looks disappointed as the referee orders them to continue, not many more punches are thrown as the round soon ends.
Both knowing they'd hurt the other this round, but it's Melissa still looking a little shaky as she returns to her corner, Henry working on getting her ready for the next round.

Round 6:
Both fighters come out trading single punches early on, feeling how much the other has recovered it seems as they circle at the center of the ring.
A missed right cross from Melissa leaves her open; DOUTZEN MAKES HER PAY WITH AN OVERHAND LEFT TO THE CHEEK, FOLLOWED BY A RIGHT HOOK ON THE BUTTON TO SEND MELISSA TO THE CANVAS!
The Doutzen fans roar as she raises her right fist in the air, 1...2...3...4.. Melissa lays spread eagle on her back staring up at the lights, 5...6...7.. She tries to move, only getting to her side though, 8...9.. Before spitting her gumshield out as 10.. She admits defeat!

Winner Doutzen Kroes KO Round 6

After:
If there were any doubts about Doutzen's power at this weight, she is proving those doubts wrong with each fight in this tournament.

Henry and the ringside doctor are quick to rush in to check on Melissa, who is helped to sit up so they can see whats going on with her.

After a few moments Melissa comes around from her daze looking upset with herself for losing, Henry tells her she did a great job as he tries to console her.

Over his should stands Doutzen, now cleaned up and without her gloves, she smiles at Melissa while holding her hand out to her.

A great sign of sportsmanship as the winner helps up the loser, Doutzen admitting that Melissa hurt her a few times in that fight, also telling her to keep her chin up as she has a bright future ahead.

While the result with still sting badly, Melissa thanks Doutzen for her words, before both pose for the cameras with one arm flexed, the other around the waist of their former opponent.

Henry tells Doutzen thanks for the kind words, with Doutzen saying she meant every single one, making him nod at her as she goes to get her hand raised.

Melissa gets helped out the ring so she can get more tests in the Sirens locker room, it looks like her chances are over bar a miracle for winning this tournament.

Though she does have Bo Krsmanovic next, maybe the miracle can start against one of the current top two in the tournament.

Inside the ring Doutzen gets her arm raised by the referee, she waves over Nicole to give her a big hug as I thank you, with Nicole telling her she can thank her when she wins the tournament.

Both leave the ring together knowing that to win this tournament they have to go through Caroline Austin and then Alice Goodwin, also they most likely need Bo Krsmanovic to lose in the next fight, so plenty of things are still against Doutzen.

But she looks happy to be back fighting regularly and winning fights, with maybe 2019 being a special year for her.
