BEFORE:
Melissa practically growling into the microphone during the pre-fight press conference, still visibly upset over that sole loss on her otherwise pristine record. One would have thought that losing to fellow stablemate Petra Nemcova would’ve settled things between the two alpha girls in the stable, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

“I *know* how Petra fights. That's how I knew she wouldn’t win the Welter title against Smalls. It was just so predictable the way she went down, you know? And Alina here’s going to be no different. I’ll put her away easy,” Satta concludes with a nod and smirk.

Tell that to Ms Vacariu though, who’s calmly hearing the smash talk at the other end of the table whilst nodding and smiling politely, but otherwise with a dangerous glint in her eyes.

“This girl has a big mouth, but she couldn't back up her words when it came to the actual fight. Let’s have less talk, Satta, and more action. You can come over and see for yourself if I’m a pushover.”

Fiery words from both corners as they meet nose to nose at the podium. Later in the ring, Melissa in a blue bikini, red gloves, whereas Alina stripping down to her black underwear, donning white mittens. Referee has no reason to prolong this, so with a wave of his hand HERE we go!

ROUND 1:
Satta underestimating the rookie’s chances in the ring, but also overstating her own abilities, gets ROCKED early when Alina flies forward, defying both her age and sturdiness to slam a straight hand RIGHT into the middle of her guard! WOWS! Satta almost squealing in surprise as her body thrown backwards and she’s forced to cover up and engage defences from the get-go! Alina is AGGRESSIVE for a newcomer, blowing hooks at Satta early, buffeting her on the side of the head with some landing hard but luckily caught by the Italian’s hasty guard. That’s still not stopping Vacariu, however, who’s staying on her hapless opponent and burying more mitts into her body from the side, then rocking Satta’s guard SOME more with uppercuts to the middle of forearms. Siren looking in trouble in the last minute (hell if she wasn’t already from the first…) already with the crowd on their feet at this early ferocity from this one girl - the Italian taking more hits on the ropes but thankfully keeping her center of gravity low, but she’s still BLOWED to the side again when Alina lands a hard hook on her cheek, but ultimately fails to drop the lanky girl in this opening round. What a feat it would be if she had done so though!

ROUND 2:
More problems for Satta, who didn't see this wrath and fury coming from a fresh-faced rookie one bit! Satta holding the fort for the first two minutes at least, using her legs a whole lot more at trying to establish distance between herself and this hellion. Alina with the same sort of energy and ferocity she displayed early on, coming at Melissa swinging, but this time having trouble dealing with Satta’s return jabs that land on her face as she charges in. Still, some of her big swings landing hard on the tummy and forearms, each time blowing Satta about in a certain direction from the impact and OUUFF. The crowd’s loving the exchange between two ladies eager to win this fight. Satta needing to re-establish herself as a title contender after her bitter loss to Nemcova, and Alina looking equally eager to make a name for herself in this ringed circle. Last round and Melissa caught back in big trouble when a double-hook to her body bowls her over in pain, leaving her open to more shots that land hard left and right, Alina going to town on her upper body and head. The rookie still raw, however, swinging hard and fast but with a lack of precision in her punches, and Satta again manages to get away in the nick of time before the bell ends her party for good.

ROUND 3:
Melissa needs to do something here in order to stay alive, and let’s not even talk about winning this fight at this point. She’s been hurt to the body these past two rounds, and her pride wounded even more. The Italian is further surprised when Alina feints a right hand to her head, bringing up her guard in the wrong position… BLAST to the left pivots Melissa’s head to the side as the hook lands hard and clean! UGHH. Satta delirious as she stumbles into the ropes, holding her face with both hands. HERE COMES ALINA, chopping more blows into that lean frame, drawing harsh grunting from lips, before SNAPPING the italian’s head backwards and up into orbit! DOWN SATTA GOES in this opening minute of the third! She got literally blown backwards into the ropes, then lost her balance and collapsing onto her haunches, one arm still tugging on the top rope as though she’s not quite sure where the f*ck she’s at!

Alina’s chest puffing and heaving amidst the roar of the crowd, as she turns back to corner with a huge grin on her face. All that effort seemingly paid off for her thus far, with her opponent knocked senseless and in danger of losing this fight! Referee counting the Siren out and what a relief for Henry Carvill in the corner when his girl manages to get back up by the count of 8! Satta nodding away at the referee, asking her if she wants to continue with this abuse. Alina not smiling any longer as she witnesses the resilience of her opponent in the opposite corner. Bell re-rings and there’s two minutes left on the clock, but Alina too surprised and too spent to take advantage: she can barely fly forward at her wounded opponent, leaving Melissa to walk away relatively unscathed compared to the first minute of this round. Signs of trouble in paradise as Alina’s stamina showing kinks in its armour.

ROUND 4:
Alina’s turn to dig deep as she strides towards Satta, looking to finish her off. But is it too little, too late, with Satta also replenished and her eyes refocused on turning this disaster around? Alina swinging hard at the head as usual, but Melissa getting into the rhythm of easy avoidance from afar, before managing to counter-stun the Romanian goddess in the face multiple times, leaving her wincing in pain towards the end of the round. Classic rookie error here as she doesn’t realise that the game is changing mid-way, and not necessarily in her favour. Alina continues to stick to her guns and rely solely on her power, thinking that if Petra could do it before, she certainly can put Satta down as well. But by the end of the third minute, Vacariu is left panting hard on the ropes, another hard gamble and swing missing entirely, and instead receiving a one-two jab-jab into her nose as reward, with Satta easily side-stepping out of the way that time and counter-striking at the bigger girl.

ROUND 5:
The tides are turning from the audience’s perspective: Alina now meeting more resistance as Satta meets her halfway at the opening bell, eager to wither away at her foe now that she’s gotten used to the newcomer’s modus operandi. Alina’s inexperience on full display as her attacks are either hitting air, missing by a mile or worse, parried to the side when Satta sees them coming a mile away, the Italian then responding with straight combinations into her open chest, body, and even scoring a snap uppercut that rocked the big girl in the third minute. Vacariu getting sent on the backpedal now, her mind racing at how this fight has suddenly swerved in the opposite direction, and what she can do about it. The answer: not much by the looks of it, especially in the face of someone who’s more experienced like Satta, who’s biding her time as she continues pestering Alina from afar, rarely venturing anything bigger just yet. Round ends and Vacariu left in tatters once more, her face and body starting to bruise from the constant pounding.

ROUND 6:
What can Alina do but play defensive for now? She’s advised by her corner to do just that, but we’re wondering whether that’s solid advice in the face of a resurgent and determined Satta, who relishes the idea of a sitting duck as her ideal target in the sixth. Alina barely moving her feet, her body only rotating to face the oncoming Melissa, who comes in hard and fast now that she knows her opponent’s not going anywhere or anytime soon. Alina as a result can’t keep up with the constant flow of punches landing on her left right center, gets SHOCKED to the nose at the end of the first minute, which sends her reeling backwards from that straight cross, one of the few surgical power strikes that Satta unleashed when she was feeling most confident. And with good reason: Alina flailing as her eyes water in pain - perfect timing for Satta to step in and clean house: a right hook to the face answered with a loud groan from Vacariu’s lips. Another hook sends her upper torso and head rotating deftly about on the ropes. Alina’s mouth open from shock as Satta has unfettered access to more tummy-pounding down below, before an uppercut into her jawline SENDS HER CRUMBLING DOWN TO CANVAS! It’s a revenge KNOCKDOWN from Melissa Satta, putting Vacariu down in methodical fashion!

Alina’s heaving on all fours, struggling to get herself back up with the support of the ropes. Her entire body shaking and vibrating, however, from the sheer strain. She’s hurt and she bloody well knows it. Satta smirking at her handiwork before heading back to neutral corner. That confidence returning to her entire being as seen from that strut in her step, along with the shimmy of her butt for the audience’s benefit. The Siren however doesn’t expect the rookie to get back up… especially not in the sixth round here. That’s tangible surprise on Satta’s face as Alina does exactly that, her surprise then turning to scorn as she berates her own corner unnecessarily, calling this booking unfair, but really she should be blaming no one else but herself for not fighting smarter in the earlier rounds. Regardless, Alina gets back up from one knee in the nick of time, the referee himself looking unsure if this girl’s really ready to continue this fight, with a myriad of bruises on her being and a few minor cuts thrown in above the eye for good measure. The crowd however loving the tenacity of both women, especially with them cutting an image of resilience and pure violence: both bodies now gleaming with sweat, with shades of red thrown in just for the pure spectacle of the fight.

ROUND 7:
We head into the seventh and if you think about it, already it’s an impressive feat for a newcomer like Vacariu. She’s hoping to turn her fortunes around however, just like how Satta did hers earlier in the fourth. But she’s forgetting that Satta has a tendency to rage and letting her anger do the punching. The Siren FLIES forward at the sound of the bell, holding nothing back this time and simply wanting to punish Vacariu for not staying down earlier in the sixth. Satta’s pride hurt all over again as she fails to put this new girl down early, making up for lost time with a relentless battering of the guard and going after the head with hook after hook, driving Alina backwards into her own corner. Alina barely fighting at this point - that valiant recovery now looking all for naught if she doesn’t try and utilise it to change the game. A second minute hook to Satta’s frame winds her with an OUFF, but Satta repays the kindness almost immediately with a roar and side swing to Alina’s face, again blasting her head to the side and worsening that cut above her eyebrow. Referee looks ready to jump in at a moment’s notice, but there’s no need: Vacariu’s guard all but destroyed, her head getting snapping backwards once, twice, THREE times with subsequent uppercuts to the chin, as Satta pummels the big girl to a pulp and finally sends her collapsing face-first WHAM back into the ground! THIS HAS TO BE OVER, NO??

Satta herself hunched over, exhausted from the constant abuse. She HAS to give the new girl SOME credit for staying alive in there for so long, no? Right now the only thing running through her mind has to be: FINALLY. Unfortunately, she’s about to be disappointed again: Vacarius STILL alive, slowing pushing her chest off the ground with her elbows, gradually getting back onto her knees! What the freaking hell is this woman made of?? The look on Satta’s face is both that of pure horror and shock, like watching a zombie get back up from her grave, only made worse by that bloodied face and eyes squeezed shut from the torture. Alina RECOVERS at the count of 9, and the referee has no choice but to allow this fight to continue!

There’s still a minute left on the clock but honestly, Satta’s looking like she doesn't have the stomach to either charge in nor finish this girl off. The Italian taking tentative steps towards this monstress, pecking at her bloodied head with jabs at first, but this ‘monster’ is really a dead one walking: Alina may have recovered but she’s as good as gone, groaning as the jabs land unabated on her nose and lips, with nary a response from her limbs, which are thrown upwards periodically to try and block subsequent attacks, but always with a one-second delayed reaction, allowing Satta to pick up her barrage and land shots without any resistance. Alina’s head flung in opposite directions as AGAIN the hooks start landing hard, the blood starting to spray into the audience as her face gets totally wrecked! Referee has FINALLY had enough, opting to put the challenger out of her misery - he JUMPS in to save her! It’s finally OVER!

Official Decision: Melissa Satta defeats Alina Vacariu via TKO7!

AFTER:
Alina on the verge of a genuine upset early on in this fight, if only she had more experience in the long game. To her credit, she gave Satta plenty of trouble, and for a brand new fighter in the ring, we think she showed plenty of potential tonight. We hope she gets to fight again, but of course, only if she recovers from this traumatising experience, with her lying bleeding on her side and the concerned look on medics’ faces as they struggle to stop the flow.

Satta honestly too wound up to celebrate - a bittersweet victory for her here tonight, putting a challenger away, yes, but doing so only in the seventh, and by a TKO no less. She’s clearly frustrated, gesturing rudely to her corner to ‘get her the f*ck outta here asap’, not wanting to answer any probing questions from reporters that would surely infuriate her further. Well, one can argue that a win’s still a win, and at least Melissa gets to get back in that particular column after tonight’s bout!
