Intro:
The first big title fight of the year sees Vogue Williams look to dethrone Joan Smalls of the BBU welterweight title, both women are undefeated; so plenty is on the line here tonight.

Vogue is 33 years old; she stands 5'10 and holds an unbeaten record of 4 wins, all of them by knockout since her debut in 2016.

Joan is 30 years old; she stands 5'10 ½ and also holds an unbeaten record, she is 9 wins, all by knockout since her debut also in 2016, she is the current BBU welterweight champion and this is her 4th defence of the belt.

The fighters met face to face at the press conference, neither looking happy to see the other as their eyes were locked onto their rivals.

Joan held the title up in her left hand for everyone present to see, causing a little commotion between the two women as they touched foreheads, looking like they were trying to force the others head back as they exchange bitter words.

Security comes rushing to separate the two, Joan heard telling Vogue "next time I'm knocking you out!" As Vogue fires back "try it bytch" to a cheer from the crowd.

Sitting at their tables with Joan sitting the belt down in front of herself, but it's Vogue who is given the chance to speak first as the challenger.

"This is what I've been working for, I dealt with the last annoyance in my life when I hammered that bytch Rozanne Purcell into submission at my feet, winning that title is my new years resolution" says Vogue with a confident look on her face.

Turning to speak directly to Joan, she tells her "I have had people telling me that I am lucky to be fighting you, that I should be thanking you for giving me a shot, I earned this moment and when I crush you, maybe if you beg me I'll give you another shot"

Joan just laughs as she shakes her head, replying "bytch you are entering the elite now, I am not some domestic rival! I'm the level you have to get to! So you better show me respect before I make you respect me!"

Vogue stands up with her coach trying to calm her down, she yells "then f***ing try to earn my respect now! I'm here and ready to see if that power you've got is for real or not! Free shot c***!"

That makes Joan stand up with eyes full of fury as Vogue taps her chin, almost begging Joan to start something so she can fire back.

Instead Joan leaves up the title and smiles, putting it around her waist as she says "I ain't going to waste my time with you, when we step into that ring, you'll see why I am the best welterweight in the world!" Then steps off the stage as Vogue stares daggers into her back.

Fight night; Vogue comes out with her coach behind her, the Irish lass looking confident as she bumps fists with the local Welsh crowd in the BBU arena, smiling as she marches to the ring.

She is wearing an emerald sports bra, matching trunks with "Williams" in gold letters on her waistband, emerald green shoes and green gloves with gold thumbs, her blonde hair is in a ponytail.

Getting into the ring; Vogue jogs around the ring before she settles into her corner, warming up by throwing punches into her coaches hands, all smiles as she looks confident.

Now the champ comes out; Joan has Taryn Terrell and Eva Carneiro by her sides, Taryn holding the title up for the crowd as Joan has her steely gaze locked onto the ring as she marches down to the ring.

She is wearing a violet sports bra, matching trunks, gloves and shoes, with "champ" in gold letters on her waistband, with her brunette hair is braided.

Climbing into the ring; Joan poses at the center of the ring, yelling at Vogue "you're mine tonight bytch!" With Vogue looking ready to go if not for her coach stopping her.

Once everything dies down; the referee is handed the belt and both women come to the center of the ring, where they continue to trade threats, a real hatred emanating from them as this has become personal.

When told to touch gloves; they look more likely to swing for each other, instead they jog back to their corners, ready to start 10 rounds of BBU welterweight title action.

Round 1:
"Ding" both women come out looking to engage quickly, slamming several punches at a time to the others face as they circle before planting their feet to trade.
Neither wanting to back up as they nearly clash heads as they come in swinging, ending up clinching while trading punches to the others kidneys with their free hands.
The referee separates the two women; ordering them to keep things clean as their eyes are locked in glares, with the referee ordering them to fight again.
The champion surprises Vogue as the Irish lass clearly things they are just going to slug it out, so when Joan steps out the way of a right cross, Vogue eats a double jab to the side of her head.
Joan now is using her boxing skills, moving around Vogue while hitting her through her guard with several punches that knock the blondes head back.
The champ is giving Vogue a taste of why she holds the title, forcing Williams to cover up as Joan steps in to land a three punch combination, two to the body in that combo.
With the round ending with Joan blowing Vogue a mocking kiss before she heads to her corner, Vogue scowling at her rival to show what she thought about the kiss.

Round 2:
Vogue now knowing what to expect, comes at Joan behind her own jab, a mirror fight begins to appear as neither seems to be able to control things.
Till Vogue leans out the way of a straight, parrying it before showing off her own hand speed to land two punches straight into Smalls face.
Getting in close to the champ, Vogue digs away to the toned body of Joan, forcing her back towards the ropes as Joan for the first time in the fight is behind her guard.
Forced on the outside of the ring; Joan only able to really land single punches out of the guard, while Vogue is throwing two or three punches at a time.
With Vogue dipping under a right cross to slam two hooks to the body of Joan, who groans out as she is driven to the ropes.
Where Joan quickly shoves Vogue to give her room to move past her, with the dying seconds seeing both planting their feet to slug it out scruffily to end the round.
Once the bell rings Vogue tells Joan "maybe you can kiss my arse after I knock you out!" Nearly causing a brawl between the two, the referee shoving them apart and ordering them back to their corners.

Round 3:
Again both women come out looking to back the other up, it's turning a little scruffy as they exchange nudges with forearms, landing as much to shoulders and gloves then their actually targets.
With Joan leaning out the way of a right hook, countering with two more punches to the face of her opponent, snapping her head back as the champ pushes forwards.
Bullying Vogue to the ropes; where Joan now starts focusing onto the body, drawing groans from the Irish models lips.
Till Vogue can shove her back, slamming punches into the face of Smalls to drive her backwards, with the Puerto Rican fighter retreating back.
It starts to turn back into a stalemate as both land stiff shots to the others face, marking them up to the delight of their coaches.
With Joan dipping under a left to come up with an overhand right, turning Vogue's head, Vogue forced on the defensive as Joan comes on the attack.
The champion coming on strong as the round comes to a close, this time no drama as both head back to their corners.
Taryn looking happy with Joan's effort, not so much letting herself get drawn into the fight Vogue wants to have, with Joan nodding at her but doesn't look too bothered yet.

Round 4:
Joan looks to be the first to keep the pressure on their opponent, moving around Vogue early on with her jab finding gaps in the guard of the Irish lass.
Who is looking for a chance to strike with more then single punches, but is getting caught too easily at the moment.
Till Joan comes in with a left cross, it misses leaving her open to an overhand right that turns her head, A LEFT HOOK CATCHES THE CHAMPION ON HER CHIN TO SEND HER TO HER SIDE!
Taryn shouts "get up Joan!" As that was a hard knockdown, 1...2...3...4.. Vogue looks confident as Joan shakes her head while dragging herself to the ropes, 5...6...7... Using the ropes 8... She gets to her feet with a slight wobble.
Once they are ordered to fight; Vogue comes on the attack, bashing Joan across her face to send her into the ropes, where Smalls pulls Vogue into a clinch.
The Irish fans in the crowd sense that their girl could have it, with the referee splitting them apart so Vogue can continue to march down her opponent.
Who is retreating and holding to show that she has been hurt, when the bell rings the Vogue fans boo as they clearly think the referee should stop it to give their girl the title.
Joan sits on her stool and is getting smelling salts, she was badly rocked this round with pundits saying she was lucky she had the wear with all to clinch up as much as she did.

Round 5:
Joan is still recovering it seems as she backs up around the ring, letting Vogue be the aggressor as the challenger stalks her behind her jab.
With the blonde fighter landing several punches cleanly to the face of Joan, busting her bottom lip up to start making matters worse for the champion.
Who each time Vogue starts looking like she is going to throw combinations, Joan is clinching up with Vogue to boos from Williams supporters.
Once they are apart again; Vogue simply keeps the pressure on, though as the round continues more of her punched are bring blocked, making the Joan supporters start to cheer more loudly themselves.
But Vogue uses her left forearm across the guard of Joan late in the round to drive her to the ropes, where she bashes away to the body.
Just missing with an uppercut as Joan leans out the way, with the bell ringing before Vogue could land a left hook that might have done serious damage.
That was a clear shutout round for Vogue, who marches back to her corner with her name being chanted, her coach even smiles as they know she has put in a statement performance so far, she just needs to stamp it with the win.
While Joan has Taryn yelling at her to get the f*** out there and prove why she has the gold, she doesn't care how much her fighter is hurting, being the best is all that matters!

Round 6:
Early on as expected it is Vogue pushing the pace, though far from having it her own way as Joan is firing back at her after dodging punches from the blonde.
With people wondering if Vogue has missed her chance as Joan is dipping under punches and generally looking a lot more alive now then the last two rounds.
It looks to be proven correct when Joan lands a stiff double jab off the nose of Vogue, followed by a right across her face to back her up.
Joan now looks to push the tempo, landing more combos after weaving out the way of punches, ending up opening a cut on the bridge of the nose of Williams with a stiff straight.
But Vogue shows she isn't going to relinquish control so easily, deflecting a straight to land one of her own, then landing a left across the face of Smalls.
Whose face is starting to look a little puffy, the last moments of the round sees things settle down a bit as both land stiff single punches, while they look to strike with their big power punches.
The bell rings with Taryn looking visibly relieved to have gotten a round back on the board, more importantly Joan looks back to herself as she sits down to get washed down.
Vogue meanwhile is told off her coach not to get worried, she has the destiny of this fight still in her hands as she thuds her gloves together, wanting to be back out there.

Round 7:
Vogue definitely brings the fight back to Joan, getting right into her face to drive her back to the outside of the ring, keeping her near the ropes.
Only Joan's footwork and guard is stopping her being stuck to the ropes, she can't do much more though then land single punches as the work rate of Vogue is on show.
The challenger dipping down so she can go to work on the body of Joan, ripping in shots that makes Smalls groan out loud, while being knocked to the ropes, where she clinches up with Vogue.
The referee needed to break them up; with Vogue continuing to look to slick Joan in half with body shots, problem is Joan knows her tactic and is dancing around her while drilling punches into the top of her head.
Making Vogue abandon that strategy so she can trade up top with Joan, who looks to be breathing harder of the two but is still looking game as she ducks under a straight late in the round to come over the top with a left.
The round ends with Joan slamming a right into the side of Vogue's head to turn it to the side, the referee steps between the girls as Joan tells Vogue "I've got you now w****!" Nearly starting a brawl if not for the referee.
When everything calms down and both women are on their stools; both are starting to feel the pace of the fight, breathing hard on their stools as their faces look puffy, reddened up and have blood coming from different cuts.

Round 8:
Vogue doesn't look like she has a reserve gear, straight away getting into Joan's grill again with shots to the body of her opponent.
It looks like Joan is grimacing more now as she is nearly stuck to the ropes, needing to nudge Vogue back to open up space for her to work in.
Vogue is like a shark; she is keep coming on the attack as Joan backs up looking to land single punches in return.
The challengers fans are roaring loudly for her as she is keeping Joan stuck on the defensive, the issue is she isn't landing many punches cleanly as Joan is keeping on the move.
With Vogue missing with a right hook; JOAN COUNTERS WITH AN UPPERCUT THAT LOOKS TO HAVE HURT VOGUE, HER LEGS WOBBLED AND JOAN BLASTS HER WITH TWO MORE RIGHTS THAT SEND HER TO HER BACK!
The Vogue fans are changing their chants to get up as Joan roars to the ceiling, 1...2...3...4.. Vogue looks shaken as she drags herself to a set of ropes, 5...6..7.. Slowly using them to pull herself to her feet 8...9.. Beating the count with the referee checking her.
She is allowed to continue as Joan comes storming forwards, bashing her punches into the nose of the Irish lass to cause more blood to run from that cut.
Vogue looks badly hurt for the first time in her career as she ships punches around and through her guard, the bell rings though to save her from being stopped.
Now the Joan fans are complaining that the referee didn't step in, with Vogue looking a little wobbly as she returns to her corner, her corner team working hard to keep her in this fight.
While the Girls Friday corner has to clean up Joan, she is grinning to the shock of Taryn and Eva, her confidence seemingly returned after a terrible run of rounds.

Round 9:
Now it's time to see how Vogue does when pushed to the brink, Joan stalks her quickly with her jab finding the nose of her opponent with sickening accuracy.
Vogue is missing with her own punches as she looks tired and still badly shaken, a bad mixture as Joan is looking to have her second win.
As shown when Joan lands a double jab to that nose, VOGUE CRIES OUT AS HER GUARD OPENS, WITH JOAN LANDING AN UPPERCUT THAT SENDS VOGUE TO HER BACK!
Joan pounds her chest as she is sure she has finished the job this time, 1...2...3..4.. Vogue stares up at the lights with a glossy look to those eyes, 5...6...7... She has barely budged from her spread eagle position, 8...9.. Spitting out her gumshield as 10.. It is all over!

Winner and still BBU welterweight champion Joan Smalls KO Round 9

After:
What a way for Joan to start her year! She keeps the title but it was far from easy, Vogue gave her all she could handle and the champion just pulled through.

Joan stares down at Vogue almost looking insulted that she had been dragged through a war by her, showing even after this that she has no respect for Vogue, going so far as to spit on her as she passes to go to her corner to loud boos.

The ringside doctor with Vogue's coach rushes out to check on her, using smelling salts to bring her around, sitting her up to a loud cheer from her supporters.

When they get Vogue to her feet, she is wobbly still so needs her coach to help her get back over to her corner for treatment.

Joan on the other hand is bend over holding the top ropes of her corner, breathing hard as this was one hell of a workout for her, Taryn washes her down as Eva massages her tired limbs.

Once she feels better; Joan turns to stare daggers at Vogue, who stares right back at her, leading to Joan marching over to the Williams corner.

Pushing aside the coach; Joan drags Vogue up to her feet so she can parade her around the ring in a walk of shame, Joan rips into Vogue, telling her "you had your chance bytch and you couldn't get the job done!" Just throwing insults at the woman she just beat.

The crowd boo all the while as they clearly think this is taking it too far, especially as Joan tosses Vogue back to the canvas so she can pose over her, all the while Vogue defiantly stares up at her.

Vogue's coach steps in to get their fighter, Joan just waving for Vogue to be taken out the ring, with Vogue's parting shot "this is far from over!" Being met with "we'll see bytch!" From Joan.

The boos continue to ring out for Joan as she gets handed the title, which she raised above her head with a big smile on her face, before shaking her head as she clearly is disappointed by the crowd.

She leaves the ring with her corner crew, eyes full of anger at being disrespected by the crowd, she's won 10 straight now and held the title for over a year, so she can't understand the boos, even if everyone else can.

Joan will now have to watch her back as the contenders 6 tournament will produce her next challenger, plenty of big names in that one will want to be the one to dethrone her, so Joan will have to work hard over the next few months to get into the best shape of her life for that test.
