Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Katie:  35 YO, 5’5 ½ (1.66 m), 5-1-0, 5 KO since 2016, Foxfire Atlantic Boxing

Nicola: 33 YO, 5’5 (1.65 m), 12-16-0, 10 KO since 2011, Lioness Club

Before: Katie McGrath is eager to expand her foothold in the BBU as she takes on Lioness Club veteran Nicola Roberts. Red-haired Nicola is in a feisty mood in the pre-fight. Dismissing Katie as “That Irish jobber who thinks she can build up her reputation against me. Sorry, but I am not letting that happen!”

“I have no idea why Nicola is acting up,” a provoked Katie responds, “but if she thinks I am jobber she is in for a rude surprise. I thought the Lioness Club girls had some manners. I see I was mistaken about that. But my fans need not worry: I know the best way to deal with mouthy creatures like her is to stuff a lot of leather in faces and shut them up!”

“You won’t be shutting me up, my girl!” Nicola snaps back.

“That’s another thing you are wrong about because I shall!” Katie promises.

Fight night finds Katie McGrath in a silver one piece with black fishnet stockings, black boots and gloves. Her dark hair is pulled back and tied with a silver ribbon. Nicola Roberts is in blue and white one-piece with blue boots and white gloves. She has her red hair in a battle braid for this bout. Nicola seems intent on trying to intimidate Katie by bodying up against her and giving her hostile glares. Katie remains cool, though she pushes back and against Nicola’s bodying up and shows she has pretty hostile glare herself. Referee has to speak sternly to Nicola and he does manage to keep order through the remainder of the instructions. Fighters finally back in their corners. The bell sounds.

Round 1:

Nicola shoots out of her corner and starts jabbing way at Katie with a furious burst of punching. Katie struggling to cope as Nicola is smacking her n the face, the side of the head and then down to jab her heard in the body. Katie retreating to pull her defenses together and buys herself enough breathing face to fight back once Nicola catches up with her. Katie using her own jab to slow Nicola up, but then Nicola manages to slip in an right uppercut to the chin. Katie staggering back and Nicola swarms upon her with a fresh burst of jabbing fury. Katie struggling as she is driven by the sheer ferocity of Nicola’s attack. Katie finally able to get her own jab going enough to halt Nicola’s advance. They trade punches down to the bell in a close round that the judges give to Nicola Roberts

Round 2:

Katie McGrath not looking pleased with how that opening round went for her, tries to make sure she is first out of her corner in this round. However Nicola Roberts is away almost as quickly and dodges Katie’s opening punches, then unleashes to Katie’s chin. Katie clearly feels the impact of the chin shots as she goes reeling back on trembling legs, gloves up around her head and trying to remain upright. Nicola attacks hard to the body, She is pumping hard lather into Katie’s stomach, ribs and then up into her breasts. Katie struggling to punch Nicola back while staying off the ropes. Nicola working hard to cut off the ring on Katie and then drive her onto the ropes. Katie managing to avoid being trapped, but she takes a lot of punching to the body and looks relieved when the bell rings. Nicola Roberts wins this round as well and by a goodly margin as well.

Round 3:

Again both fighters are away quickly from their corners. Katie less reckless however and has prepared defenses waiting when Nicola comes at her. Sharp jabbing from Katie light up Nicola’s face and bring the redhead’s charge to a sudden halt. Katie then firing hooks into Nicola’s midsection, driving her back. Nicola tries to rally with the jab, but Katie managing to evade it better this round while now striking at Nicola to the breasts. Nicola tries to strike back at Katie’s chest, but then Katie goes to the stomach with deep driving hooks that send Nicola stumbling back. Katie back to the head as the round winds down and lands some solid shots to the sides of Nicola’s head just before bell rings. Nicola looks rubbery legged getting back to her corner as Katie McGrath wins her first round wide.

Round 4:

Katie and Nicola continue their fast exits from their corners at the sound of the bell. They get right into trading punches with Nicola driving her hooks into Katie’s ribs. Katie goes to the stomach with her hooks. The two circle and then it’s an exchange of flying gloves to the head that gives both a moment’s pause to regroup and then they move at each other again for a fresh exchange of stiff swipes to the jaw, chin and the sides of the head. Again they drop back, shake off the impacts and go back at it. This time Katie gives Nicola’s knockers a furious scrubbing as rights and lefts whip from side to side. Nicola goes for Katie’s breasts with vengeful jabs, but gets a clip to chin from a Katie answering right. Nicola recoils backwards and Katie follows with hooks to the stomach. Nicola jabs Katie to the chest to hold her back and the round ends. Judges decide it’s a Katie McGrath round, but it’s a close margin.

Round 5:

Nicola must have left that jugg attack because it is Katie’s knockers that get her full attention in the opening minute of the new round. Nicola uses straight driving lefts and rights to pound Katie’s breast cups and then she adds some hooks to the underside just to add to Katie’s misery. Katie trying to jab Nicola back, but the redhead just keeps pressing forward. Katie finally pulls back, circles and comes back swinging for Nicola’s head.  Nicola dodges and hammer a hooks into Katie’s stomach. Katie is stalled and Nicole counterattacks to the body. Katie responds to the body, The two are toe to toe and swinging their arms in and out piston rods on a steam engine. Hard, grinding action and Nicole is pushing Katie back step by stubborn step. Very intense down to the bell with Nicola gaining ground, but she’s getting pounded nearly as good as she is pounding back. Referee has top jump in when the two apparently fail to hear the bell. Both breathing hard, dripping sweat and trudge slowly back to their corners. It’s another close round, but this time the judges find in Nicola Roberts favor.

Round 6:

Both fighters require a lot of attention from their respective corner crews, but out they come. Nicola seems eager to throw the first punch, but Katie shows some foot work and obliges Nicola to move to cut her off. Katie goes to the body again and Nicola goes to the body as well, but then Katie suddenly slaps a left hook to Nicola’s jaw. Nicola freezes in shock and an instant later brings a full-in right uppercut into Nicola’s chin. Nicola lifted onto her toes and arches backwards. Katie drives a right into Nicola’s stomach that doubles her up so that crashes onto her bottom, she skids on it and the sprawls back, arms at her sides, with eyes closed. Katie trots to the neutral corner and watches as referee starts to count. Nicola stirs and rolls to one side. She pushes herself up on one arm and looks up at the referee. She seems to realize what’s happened and tries to get up, but she falls back each time she tries. She is just sitting there with a crushed look on her face as the official cries:

“NINE!...TEN!...YOU ARE OUT!”

THE WINNER: KATIE MCGRATH DEFEATS NICOLA ROBERTS KO6.

After: Lot of hard feelings left in Katie McGrath. She gets her gloves removes and can’t wait to get over to Nicola Robert’s corner once she has been cleared by the medical staff. Katie grabs Nicola by the bicep and hauls her to her feet.

“Call me a ‘jobber’, will you?” Katie snarls into Nicola’ face.

Nicola silent, just hangs her head as Katie escorts her around the ring for a good and proper walk o shame. Katie makes sure to stop so lots of pics can be made. Then she drags the wretched and miserable Nicola on until they have completed a circuit of the ring. Katie lets her go with a hearty slap on the bottom to make Nicola yelp and then Katie struts back to her corner waving to the crowd.

This was a very even fight. Katie proved to be quite shrewd in her ring tactics, feinting to the  body while striking to the head in R6.  Disappointing loss for Nicola, she showed she had what it takes to stay even with Katie, but that just wasn’t enough to get her the win. Very encouraging for Katie McGrath as she looks forward to her next BBU opportunity.
