Teresa: 34 YO, 5’5 ¾ (1.67 m), 6-0-0, 6 KO since 2012 Lookout Atlantic Boxing

Before: Australian blonde actress Teresa Palmer is eager to take on former BBU Bantam Champion Irish-born actress Kaite McGrath.

“Here I am, undefeated in the BBU and SHE gets the bantam title shot. I don’t begrudge her seizing the chance and having a nice little title run, but, really, I could have been an even bigger champion that she was. So this fight will give me the chance to show everyone how wrong they were to ignore me. Maybe I can even get a title shot of my own out of this.”

Katie McGrath looks annoyed at this attitude: “It’s too bad that Teresa got passed over, but that is what you get when your last BBU fight was in 2016. (Yes, I looked you up). If you are not around you can’ expect to get the fights. You weren’t being ignored. You just weren’t here. So now you are and you will very shortly learn why I have succeeded you have not.”

Teresa now the one looking annoyed: “I have been busy with other venues. Maybe I should have been here—to put fighters like you in their proper place. Now I am here and you WILL be in your proper place: face down and sucking canvas while you are counted out!”

“Don’t speak to me in that tone—I am a former champion and don’t you forget it!” Katie snaps as tempers start to rise.

“Oh, don’t worry I haven’t forgotten, but you will be forgotten when I get done with you!” snaps the incensed Teresa.

Katie and Teresa now get chest to chest and start pushing at each other. The press event seems about to turn into a catfight when BBU Security officers rush out and separate the seething pair. Unexpected flare-out has the fans buzzing as fight night approached.

Katie enters the ring in her golden one piece swimsuit , black gloves and boots (gold lacings) Her dark hair is pulled back with a silver ribbon bow. Teresa in a dark blue and white one piece with white gloves and boots (dark blue laces). Teresa’s hair is in a simple ponytail.

Two women scowl at one another and jostle against each other during ring instructions. Referee has to wave a stern finger into faces of the two irked ladies to restore order. Finally they are back in their corners and the bell rings.

Round 1:

Teresa quick to drive jabs into Katie’s face as they come out for the opening round. Katie drops back, tries to circle and come at Teresa. Teresa too quick as she darts in and strikes Katie hard with a right uppercut to the chin and adds a left hook as follow-up. Katie pulling back and Teresa advancing with shots to the belly and ribs. Katie trying to counter with the jab, but Teresa just forcing her mitts in to strike Katie to body and head, Katie under pressure, taking a lot of hits, but not breaking under Teresa’s fast strikes. Round ends with Katie breathing hard and glaring defiantly at a smugly smiling Teresa. Round to Teresa Palmer by a wide margin.

Round 2:

Teresa comes hurrying forward for the new round, but Katie is showing better footwork this round and Teresa having trouble getting in close. Then Katie brings a lightning strike right cross into Teresa’s jaw. Teresa legs suddenly turn to rubber as she wobbles back. Katie now pounding away at Teresa to the body, doubling her forward and then giving Teresa impressive rack some jugg mugging attention. Teresa being pushed around until her head appears to clear and then her defensive jab grows strong. Katie circling around Teresa, striking at the blonde’s flanks and the sides of her head. Teresa answering with the jab, but it’s not enough to keep Katie from winning the round wide. Katie has a wicked smile as they head for their corners. Teresa looks a bit stunned at the sudden reversal of fortune.

Round 3:  

Katie sat eagerly on her stool during the break and fairly leaped from her stool at the bell. Teresa was coming out rapidly, too, but Katie moved in faster. Before Teresa could even launch her first punch, a stabbing right was slamming into Teresa’s jaw and then a left clipped the blonde to the chin. Teresa was knocked off-balance and Katie swarmed in to pound away at the blonde to the head and chest. Teresa struggled to counter, but as she tried to make a stand, Katie’s hooks plowed into the blonde’s belly and sent her into a shaky retreat. Katie looks smooth as she steers Teresa into the ropes and then proceeds to lather on the leather as Teresa shudders and writhes, able only to protect her head and face.  The intensity of Katie’s punching seems an effort to put the Australian blonde down, but Teresa hangs on and endures to the bell. Katie breathing hard and looks displeased as she stomps away to her corner. Teresa just looks relieved she’s still standing as she slowly returns to her own corner. Round goes to Katie McGrath in a shutout.

Round 4:

Katie comes out looking to finish Teresa off, but Teresa just as determined to get back in this fight. Teresa smacks Katie to the mouth with a driving straight right and then brings her left into Katie’s nose. Katie recoils with blood dripping from her nose and Teresa now starts working at Katie’s jaw. Katie battered by rights and lefts, but fights back with a right uppercut to the Teresa’s chin that stalls the blonde’s attack. Katie then goes to work on Teresa to the juggs, ribs and belly, but Teresa rallies to slam counters into Katie’s torso. Katie’s advance stalls and suddenly she and Teresa are going at it toe to toe, slamming punches into bodies only inches apart. The sound of leather on wet fabric can be clearly heard at ringside. SMACK! SMACK! SMACK! Teresa and Katie not giving an inch as they drive home punch after punch. Just slow, grinding, intense punching that goes on and on until the bell rings. Referee has to push them apart after the bell. Katie and Teresa look battle dazed as they separate and make their way to their corners. Judges rule the round a DRAW!

Round 5:

Both fighters worked on by their corner crews and come out reasonably briskly at the bell. Katie moving around Teresa, sending out a few probing punches and then she comes moving in fast when she thinks she sees an opening. Unfortunately, Teresa is waiting and brings a stuffing left hook into Katie’s midsection to bring the charge to an abrupt halt. Katie is jerked forward all doubled up and Teresa brings a right uppercut from down around her ankles up into Katie’s chin. Katie’s head snaps back and she suddenly collapses into Teresa’s surprised arms. Teresa hastily jumps back as Katie ‘s face slides down the front of Teresa’s swimsuit and then comes to rest on Teresa’s boot tops! KATIE MCGRATH IS DOWN! Teresa hurries to the neutral corner and watches as Katie struggles to push herself up off the canvas. The referee is counting steadily. Katie finally reaches a crouching position and then stands erect just as the official reaches “NINE!” Referee checks Katie over and then waves Teresa back in. Teresa presses Katie hard with head shots, but Katie fighting back with a stubborn jab into Teresa’s face and then into her juggs. Teresa now goes to Katie’s juggs and down into her stomach with hooks. Katie backing away, covering up more and more as Teresa works her to the body. Time runs out. Teresa Palmer wins the round wide and has a knockdown to boot.

Round 6:

Teresa and Katie clash at mid ring as soon as they can get there. Sharp exchange of blows to the body. Vengeful knocker knocking from Teresa as she works the McGrath rack and Katie counters with slapping rights and lefts to the Palmer boobs. Then as they circle around, they start pumping hooks to the belly and ribcages. Teresa bobbing and weaving, trying to draw Katie off balance, but Katie seems to be adjusting to the moves. Then Teresa finally draws Katie off balance and clips her a ringing right to the chin. Katie put on her heels. Teresa now with straight shots into Katie’s face until Katie can get her gloves up. Teresa back to the body with raking punches across Katie’s abs. Katie responds with a flurry of body punches of her own that bring Teresa to a stop. The two then get into again at point blank range with short, driving hooks to the body until time runs out. It was close round, but Teresa pulls out a narrow win.

Round 7:

Action resumes promptly as the bell sounds for the new round. Teresa trying to press Katie with her bobbing and weaving tactics. Katie blocking or evading the incoming, watching Teresa closely and suddenly she swings a belting right to the side of Teresa’s head. Teresa nearly knocked off her feet as she spins away from the blow. Teresa trying to set up her defenses as Katie comes in gloves churning like high speed piston rods. Teresa shelled hard in the face and sent crashing into the ropes from a left/right uppercut combo to the chin. Teresa sprawled against the ropes, can’t get her arms up fast enough as Katie brings crushing rights and lefts to the jaw and chin. Teresa overwhelmed as she is trapped against the ropes and she starts to sag to the right. Katie slams finishing right into the side of Teresa’s head as she goes topples over. TERESA CRASHES TO THE CANVAS. Teresa lies on her side under the bottom rope, cheek pressed against the canvas and breathing wetly. Katie has trotted off to the neutral corner and alertly watches as referee counts. Teresa makes an effort to rise on her forearms, but that’s all she can do as she slumps back to the canvas.

“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!...YOU ARE OUT!” declares the official.

THE WINNER KATIE MCGRATH DEFEATRS TERESA PALMER KO7!

After: “I couldn’t be happier,” Katie tells BBU reporter as they watch a groggy Teresa Palmer be helped from the ring, “I made her kiss the canvas and now she knows why I was a true bantamweight champion. Now need to work on getting that title belt back. Thanks, Teresa, you were a big help in that!”

Teresa Palmer speaks to BBU reporter later: “I was beating her. I am convinced I was. I got a careless in the 7th and she was opportunistic enough to take advantage. My biggest mistake was not being able to finish her in the 5th. If I had, it would have been all over then and there. So I call me a skeptic when it comes to Katie McGrath—she’s not better than me! I believe that!”

Very good win for Katie McGrath and shows she could well be in the hunt for a fresh shot at the BBU Bantam Title. Katie and Teresa did seem closely matched, but it basically came down to Katie being able to survive a knockdown and come back, while Teresa could not. Very enjoyable contest and BBU bantam fans can hope we’ll see more of both fighters as the year progresses.
