Diana:
(21, 5’5, 12:4 BBU, SIRENs)

Mimi:
(21, 5’6, BBU Debut, Free Agent)

BEFORE:
Rumours swirling that Diana might be next-in-line for the BBU Flyweight challenge trophy, though hearing from the baby Siren, she’s playing coy with a sweet smile at the press conference.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Diana beaming back at the question from a reporter. “Look, nothing’s finalised, but yeah, we’re in discussions to make it happen. You guys know that I don’t go chasing after the belts, right? I just do my best and see what happens. So let’s focus on tonight’s fight: Mimi looks like another promising girl to go ten rounds with me in the ring, so I can’t wait to get in there with her and show her how it’s done!”

Mimi smiling sweetly for the cameras as well, trying to put on a brave face now after remembering that her own sister Leah got trounced back in the FCBA International Cup 2019. Now, it’s other half of the Aussie team looking to break into the ring, with Leah cheering her on from the front row seats.

“Hi, I’m Mimi. I may be making my debut tonight, but I want Diana to know that I do kickboxing and muay thai on the side. So I guess I’m ready for whatever she throws at me in there. I can’t wait to get in the ring and show everyone what I’m capable of as well!”

What a couple of sweethearts, no? These two might even have been good friends outside of the ring as they shake hands at the podium, then later on making ready to punch each other in the face once the bell rings. They pose at the podium before shaking hands, genuine sportswomanship on display and not something you see every day.

Later in the arena, Diana coming out first, spunky-looking as ever as she waltzes down the ramp in a blank bikini top, hot denim shorts, topping it off with a pair of red gloves. Mimi however stealing the spotlight as she emerges in a hot pink bikini with a white shawl draped over her shoulders, sheepishly waving to the hoots of the fans.

We’re expecting a clean fight tonight, but it doesn’t have to be lacking in action! There goes the bell and HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
First round and the rookie tries to be aggressive, coming forward fast and punching Diana in the face with her jab. Diana should have definitely saw this coming a mile away: an overzealous newbie who wants to prove that she can fight by going into overdrive. Unfortunately, the Flyweight challenger doesn’t adapt till it’s too late, having trouble fending off Mimi’s long jabs, as a result getting hit in the face repeatedly. Second minute and Diana has had enough with the bleeding of points, plants her feet and returns fire with an inferno of punches of her own, stunning Mimi with a right cross straight down the middle that stops the Aussie girl in her tracks. Perkins lets out a shocked cry as Diana’s right hand all but breaks through the arms, grazing the chin and giving her a taste of her power. Rest of the round sees Diana making up for lost ground, stalking forward and peppering Mimi with her jab across the ring.

ROUND 2:
Mimi suddenly not looking as certain as before as she comes out of her corner, holding both her hands in front of her face and playing defensive ball. Fine by Diana, who treats the newcomer to a constant barrage of punches in and out, alternating between targeting the arms and her pristine body. Well, pristine no longer, as Mimi’s constantly getting pushed backwards with leather landing on her stomach, her own jabs occasionally slamming into Diana’s face, but definitely not able to compete with the quantity and quality of Diana’s assault. Third minute and it’s an absolute slaughter for Mimi as she gets pushed and shoved about continuously, looking out of her element in here as Diana sweeps the round.

ROUND 3:
More hesitancy on Mimi’s part as she backs away or to the side immediately once the bell rings, dare I say looking scared of what Diana will do to her once she catches up. Bad choice here as Diana may look like an innocent lamb, but once she has her sights set on you, she turns into a lioness. The Siren rushes forward and bam bam bam sends Mimi scurrying back with hard shots to the body, chest and into her forearms, further depriving her of any room for a comeback. Mimi gasping as she covers up, but skinny arms swiped away easily before a textbook right hook comes CRASHING into the side of her head! DOWN the poor girl goes, crashing onto her side with a WHOMP!

It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Diana Korkunova, who can’t quite believe that Mimi went down so early, but believe it, folks, because Perkins is left scrambling on her back, one hand still holding the ropes in disarray!

Diana retreating to corner, small smirk on her face saying loads: that she was totally expecting this outcome to happen all along. But she’s in for a surprise when Mimi gets back up to her knees, then recovers by the count of 8, looking shaken but not defeated just yet.

Two minutes left on the clock and Diana is eager to finish her off within the timeframe! Mimi back to covering herself up along the ropes, body jolting backwards whenever Diana plugs her in the belly with a fist, then rocks her up top to the already wavering guard. All Mimi needs to do is hang in there for another minute or so. Referee himself is hovering by her side, eyes focused on whether he should stop this abuse. But Mimi answers for him, when another hook to her head sends her sprawling a few steps to her right. Immediately Diana’s upon her, sending an uppercut crashing into the chin that SNAPS that pretty head backwards… AND DOWN MIMI GOES YET AGAIN!

This time, Diana ROARS to the crowds at this forgone conclusion, her victory assured now that Mimi’s left writhing on her back and holding her jaw in pain. She shouldn’t bother getting up for that one! Diana already running to her corner to celebrate, but there’s a sudden roar from the audience as Diana turns around just in time to see Mimi Perkins BACK UP on her feet, having beaten the count just-in-the-nick-of-time 9!!

Good lord can this Aussie girl take a beating! Shock in Diana’s eyes as she too thought this fight was all wrapped up and ready for the after-party. But the rules are the rules! The referee waves for the last few seconds of this fight to continue, and it takes a couple of seconds before Diana herself gets moving forward, too stunned to believe in the newbie’s resilience.

But this last time, Mimi seen just hanging onto the top rope for her dear life, body eating up leather as it lands from Diana unabated. Korkunova plugging her fists into her stomach before wailing away lefts and rights across the cheek. FINAL hook takes her on the chin, sending her gumshield flying, and Mimi grunts before she crumples to the ground for the THIRD time this round! IS IT OVER FINALLY?

Yes, it fucking is! Referee owes it to this rookie to count her out all the way to ten once again, just in case she pulls off a third miracle of the evening. But no! This time, Mimi doesn’t even try to make it up to her knees, mouth open as she lies there on the canvas, completely knocked out! It’s OVER!

Official Decision: Diana Korkunova defeats Mimi Perkins via KO3!

AFTER:

Some credit certainly due for poor Mimi, who recovered from two knockdowns in the third round, only to get her clock cleaned out by the veteran Diana. Of course, many in the audience applauding the poor girl’s effort regardless, especially when the results are announced, for her tenacity and never-say-die attitude.

Diana helps Mimi up to her feet almost immediately, forgoing any victory celebration on her part. One can’t deny that the Siren’s thunder somewhat stolen by Mimi’s resilient resistance, but most of us still agreeing that maybe Perkin’s maiden fight to such a contender was a BAD idea. Well, hopefully, we see more of that resilience next time in the ring, eh? Hers and sister Leah have a bright future ahead of them if they keep up this kind of performance!
