Sophia Thomalla vs Elizabeth Gillies

BEFORE: Welcome to the battle of two stunners undefeated in BBU competition! Sophia Thomalla might be billed as the future superstar by the Black Eagle Boxing but she's up for a real test tonight against FCBA tweener Elizabeth Gillies. Sophia racked up three impressive wins since breaking BBU ground back in June and her kickboxing experience seems to make the all important difference as the Eagles' manager/trainer Gina Wild is quick to point out when talking to Denise van Outen.

On ther other hand we have Liz Gillies - still trying to find her range on both sides of the Atlantic. The fact she joined the Kear's Kats indicates she needs a proper reboot of her up & down career but one has to wonder if she truly analyzed Thomalla's potential because that's a very tricky match-up indeed. Then again those Yankees are never short of confidence even on guest duty here in the old country!

Sophia Thomalla wears a black bikini top, matching hotpants & red gloves. Long dyed blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Liz Gillies wears a red basque top, black hotpants & blue gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a curled ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Sophia channels her agressive wave but Liz keeps her honest as both women trade vicious leather from the opening bell and refuse to yield an inch here. Sophia gets vocal as she rocks the American's head back however Liz stays in her lane and responds in equally slugging manner to neutralize the German's efforts before looping a nasty cross on the nose for a good measure. She switches her attacks downstairs thereafter and leaves Thomalla exposed; a brief clash of heads finally stalls the action but Gillies jumps into a quick fire assault anyway and lands a couple of heavy bombs on the chin which make Sophia visibly upset come the bell.

Round 2:
More slugging action on display as neither woman wants to back off, Liz eats a nasty left cross on the eye which allows Sophia to cash in with the aggressive fortune and she rattles the American back to the turnbuckle come the one-minute mark. Liz tries to hang on but finds the former amateir kickboxer's pace too hot and disappear behind a tight earmuff while the blonde keeps slicing her guard from both flanks. Elizabeth slumps on the ropes and clinches the older woman but Sophia shows some core strenght and shakes off the stalemate before cracking a jaw slammer on target that sinks the brunette into loud spasms right before the bell.

Round 3:
Liz comes back to punish the fellow actress downstairs but Sophia quickly beats her with the overhand response and begins to dominate the slugging action again. Gillies refuses to back off but suffers from a visible cut under the left eye and has to bail out into safety during the second minute while Thomalla keeps hassling her in swarming fashion. She bumps the younger woman onto the ropes and drills her breadbasket before another hectic clash of heads halts her progress. Liz clinches her thereafter but still eats more blows in the gut as Thomalla seeths into her face at the bell and triggers an angry rant from Gail Kim in the Kats' corner.

Round 4:
Elizabeth rolls out with a hooking menace but Sophia embraces the slugging challenge and comes out on top when she NAILS the brunette on the eye with a crisp series herself. The swelling under the left eye grows bigger every second and Gillies seems bothered by it as she tries to hang back in mid-range which only forces a hectic pursuit from the blonde opponent. Thomalla glues her mitts into Liz's face come the two-minute mark and bumps her butt-in-ropes; she adds more midsection pressure and leaves Elizabeth gasping for air at the bell.

Round 5:
There's just no stopping the aggressive German as she blows into the brunette's face and cuts her up again... Liz stumbles to the side having a hard time embracing all this punishment and her swing for the fences finds thin air while Sophia steps up into a brutal right hook on the nose... Uh-oh!!! Elizabeth is HURT as she drops her coverage and trips onto the ropes where she's too slow to react and eats another vicious left/right combo on the mouth... she slumps to the side but Sophia bursts into her chest and pierces the solar plexus in the process which FLOORS GILLIES on the spot!!! Ugh! Liz crashes down on her knees and spits out her gumshield but still make a brave effort to beat the count. She gets up at eight only for Thomalla to sprint across the ring and SMOKE her with a left/right combo on the jaw!!! Liz stumbles into loud spasms and eats a faceful of leather for several seconds thereafter... she refuses to go down but begins to leak more blood from the cuts under the left eye so THE REF JUMPS IN and saves her from more damage. Coach Gail Kim wasn't ready to throw in the towel but it's irrelevant at this stage. TKO5 Sophia Thomalla!!!

AFTER: Ugh! Even the proud Americans can be silenced on BBU duty and Liz just wants to get out of here to have her facial damage checked. She's lucky not to suffer a broken bone or two according to Denise van Outen in the booth but Sophia doesn't care much and vows to emerge as the future champion before too long. Four wins and it's becoming clear the hype surrounding the German actress is real! No wonder Gina Wild can't hide that big grin on her face when the official verdict is announced! Sophia licks her lips in visible delight and issues an open challenge during her post-fight speech but one has to believe many bantamweights will think twice before responding to it! Okay, maybe not if your name is Kate Lawler but Sophia wants true elite opponents on her schedule going forward as she doesn't lack confidence she can rise into BBU stardom within the next few months!
