“MIDWEEK MAYHEM”

Before: Non televised bout, but a great gate—Locklear one of those marketable veterans who’s becoming a soft touch—Wuhrer cynically targeting the blonde for a much needed win, preparatory to a slight ove down to 110. :I learned in the Charisma fight that even though she’s a mediocre bantam—she’s got bantam power.” Explains Kari in pre-fight. “I think I can be bigger at fly and challenge right away.”

Wuhrer in black push, black nylon jogging shorts, black shoes and globes, shoulder length curls—Heather in pale blue cotton camisole, grey cotton panties white shoes and gloves, hair clipped back.

R1: Kari out looking to bully, but Heather gambling early, catches the brunette a clouting wide right on the ear that has Kari stumbling sideways. Great first minute for Locklear as she batters Wuhrer with free swinging lefts and rights. Wuhrer taking better as the round progresses and by the end she’s the strongest girl, trading licks with Heather and backing the blonde up. Round to Locklear, but Wuhrer looked fresher at the bell.

R2: Kari keeping he tempo high, action wild, wisely using up the blonde’s reserves in a series of reckless exchanges all around the ring. Locklear stiff on her legs, but able to rock back and forth with her punching rhythm—Wuhrer coming on late to pound out a close round.

R3: Shutout Heather Locklear, Heather seeking out to beat Kari in punches—blonde with chin right out there, but she’s slapping and clouting wide to Kari’s jaw, pre-empting Wuhrer’s punches. Kari getting tagged but showing no respect, stands right in front, letting Heather get off and push her around. Kari making Heather fight, taking a good punch, but giving up points as the blonde nods her head at the bell.

R4: First signs of fatigue as Locklear’s punches start to push and slap—blonde standing swiftly and not discouraging Wuhrer in the slightest. Kari’s pressure finally pays off as she jolts Heather a hard right cross, reloads ad bends into another right hand high on the head that puts the blonde wobbling to her haunches. Locklear up, but saddened and Kari puts it to her, loading up on plowing lefts and rights to batter Heather to the bell.

R5: Kari’s got control—she settles down and starts to pick her opponent apart. Sharp punching straight from the shoulders, pounding away at Heather’s crowsfeet—Locklear holding her gloves habitually low, but lacking the reflexes at this point to make Wuhrer miss. Pinpoint steo and oop from Kari does damage—swelling begins around Heathers baby blues.

R6: Shutout Kari Wuhrer, Staying on the eyes—Kari[s hands too quick, finding face before Heather can react—blonde starts to stagger aimlessly as she takes punches, Locklear’s mouth pouting, breathing hard—eyes swelling to slits after 3 minutes of hard, accurate punching from a cruel, relentless Kari this round. Heather falling in to clinch fir breaks—whispers “Go easy” at one point.

R7: Shutout Kari Wuhrer. More banging punishment to tragically closed eyes, and Wuhrer is going to the body with slinging right hands to buckle Heather’s legs repeatedly with unexpected shots. Locklear a total wreck, stumbling to the wrong corner at the break—hard hearted Kari glaring with flinty eyes after the bell.

R8: Heather ropeside much of the round, just pushing her arms straight out as she braces her legs wide. Wuhrer patient, devastating, steering right round punches to the body, shifting her hips and sinking in the hook to Heather’s wide open right flank. Locklear going out on her feet, but the predictability of the punching prevents her from being jarred into unconsciousness—her own anticipation enough to keep her around. Wuhrer bodying up in the final minute to catch her breath, cinching up under Heather’s thin arms and bearing her heavily into the ropes.

R9: Wuhrer walking Heather down, bouncing her head back with jabs as Locklear sags to the ropes. Kari loading up now, getting her weight behind every hook to the ribs, or clouting right hand on the eye. Locklear bludgeoned to her knees from behind the sheer accumulation, gets up despite cries from ringside to stop the fight. Dazed, reeling against the ropes, hands at her belly--Heather helpless. Kari squares up and unleashes heartless lefts and rights, banging Locklear into oblivion and giving the ref all he needs to stop this thing. TKO9—a smoldering Kari Wuhrer turns her back on a devastated Heather Locklear.

After: Sickening beating another in a long string of beat downs for the once proud blonde icon. Locklear battered beyond recognition, eyes shut tight, cheeks all distorted, lips busted up—she is guided carefully from the ring by a concerned corner as Wuhrer struts it up in the ring. Kari is philosophical about the mauling. “You hang around long enough, it’s going to happen. I needed to go hard on Heather—there was a lot of pressure on me to stop her. She knew it, she didn’t want to give it up to me, but she couldn’t hurt me. Hopefully she’ll step aside now. I mean, she’s got nothing left to prove.”
