Two big girls fight now, with Damaris looking to extend her unbeaten run against the much vaunted debutante, Elena, the 31 year old Romanian bravely facing the taller 29 year old New Yorker, who must surely be getting to the stage where she needs to fight someone like Joan Smalls, who seemed to enjoy beating up Gemma Atkinson recently almost as much as Damaris did

Elena is wearing a scarlet basque with matching knickers tonight, and Damaris has opted for a silver coloured leather bikini, as the girls eye each other carefully whilst being given their instructions

Round 1
The bell rings and the two big welterweights get togetherin the middle of the ring, where they swap a few testing jabs to find their range, maybe wondering who will let a bigger punch go first, so Damaris takes the wonder out of Elena’s thoughts as she whips a right hook over the top of the Romanian’s guard, banging it hard on her eyebrow, sending her skittering backwards, Elena getting the full force of that, but she gathers herself well enough to parry Damaris’ next punch, a left hook spearing towards her mouth, then hits back, hitting the American’s body, although Damaris comes back very quickly, and hits her to the head again, banging a right handed punch onto her ear, which makes Elena retreat, Damaris grinning to see how easily she’s put the Romanian against the ropes, but she runs out of time to press home her advantage in that impressive opening round

Round 2
After hurting Elena in the opening round, Damaris wastes no time in tucking into her again, sets her backwards with a couple of left jabs to her mouth, then, fo the first time, she goes ‘downstairs’ and hits the Romanian to her ribs with a right hook, Elena again getting the full force of that punch, and she’s unsteady, totters sideways, where Damaris hits her again, this time a left hook to her face, and that’s put her down! Elena’s been floored in the second round, and takes a while to clear her head, getting up at 8, Damaris looking to finish her off right now, Elena going into her shell, crouching as Damaris tries to pick her guard open, but can’t quite do it, Elena taking most of the punishment the American metes out on her gloves and forearms, in a one-sided round

Round 3
Damaris might want to knock Elena out quickly, but the Romanian has other ideas, and she’s starting to fight back after taking that hammering in the previous round, matches Damaris leading jab with her own, but she can’t stay out of the way of Damaris’ right hook, which pings into her cheek and makes her stagger again, then another one which thuds into her midsection, taking her breath away, Damaris just too slow to take advantage this time, though, and Elena’s ready when she comes at her again, blocks the Americans punches, then lands a couple of her own, at last giving the Romanians in the crowd something to cheer, although those cheers are muted when she eats a hard, straight left hand from Damaris which fattens her bottom lip, and draws a little blood, Elena again needing to clear her head as Damaris’ punch stuns her, the bell ringing before she can inflict any more damage

Round 4
So, the first three rounds have been won by Damaris, and she seems to be setting up to give Elena some more punishment in the fourth, prods the Romanian girl backwards, but, as she looks to wind up another withering right hook, she takes Elena’s best punch so far, a left hook to the jaw, which rocks and turns Damaris around, so that she is the girl who has been taken to the ropes, where Elena can start looking to break down her defence, but it’s holding up pretty well to this first attack, Damaris clinching and holding to get out of trouble, the referee prising her off Elena, who reacts quickly, lifting Damaris’ head up with a short arm left uppercut, turning her again, and batting her head left and right before sinking a good left into her gut, Damaris hurt, but responding, thumping Elena in the face with a couple of nice straight punches before the end of a round at last won by the Romanian

Round 5
Damaris’ corner have needed to work hard on their girl between rounds, as she sports a worsening lump on her right cheek, but she looks ok as the fight resumes, and gives Elena a rough opening spell, thumping her body almost at will whilst the Romanian tries to sort herself out, which she does, and she gives Damaris something to think about again as she bats her with some good left handed punches, targeting that damaged cheek, knowing that her best chance of beating Damaris may well be to damage her in some way, but the America’s a tough girl, takes the best shots Elena can fire, then fights back, hitting the older girl hard to her ribs, and around her tits, which has annoyed the Romanian, and she gets a bit untidy, letting Damaris hit her some more, before recovering to hit the New York babe with three tasty left jabs in quick succession, gradually getting back into this fight

Round 6
These girls must be tiring, but they don’t show any signs, as Elena takes the fight to Damaris, and she’s starting to make the favourite back off! Damaris is also bleeding from her nose as the Romanian hits her head sideways with a right hook, turns it, then lands a left hook flush in the centre of Damaris’ face and she wobbles a little, although Elena can’t get to her quickly enough to hit her again, and instead Damaris takes her time, clinches and recovers, hitting Elena just after the break as the referee drags the girls apart, and that seems to have discouraged Elena, who spins backwards, right glove upside her right eye, and when she moves it down, there’s blood seeping down her face from that punch from the America, who senses that she’s got the older girl on the run again, and the fight is see-sawing back towards Damaris now, the younger babe hitting and hurting Elena more in the closing seconds as the Romanian seems to slow down

Round 7
Elena doesn’t have the legspeed or aggression now as the girls resume, and she gets pinged immediately with a left and right hook combination from Damaris, who suddenly seems to be finding a little extra energy, as the best fighters always seem to do, and Elena’s looking forlorn and discouraged, her right eye bleeding again, spraying the referee and ringside spectators, as well as Damaris, who hits the eye, then gives Elena two more hefty blows to her midriff, follows on with a stiff right uppercut, and that’s too much for Elena, who jack knifes over backwards, and lands in a heap, finished off decisively

Result: Damaris Lewis knocked out Elena Ionescu in round 7

Elena put up a hard fight against the impressive Damaris, who really does seem to have her mind set to win the BBU welterweight title, the New Yorker sportingly lifting Elena from her stool to share a lap of honour once she’s fit enough
