(Beever's Babes vs BBU Independent)
(28-26-1, 24 KO vs 6-9, 5 KO)
Results: BBU; Story: Vassago

BEFORE:

The current lightweight champion Alessandra Ambrosio has spoken and cherry-picked Lisa Maffia as the next challenger to eclipse the record number of divisional title defenses currently co-owned by... you've guessed it - Lisa Maffia herself.

BBU TV's Denise van Outen won't quote the social media response from Ambrosio's fellow peers but this isn't exactly the case of the best woman available when it comes to Maffia who hasn't graced the BBU ring since November last year. What's worse, her last victory on this side of the pond dates back to February 2015 when she steamrolled the much-maligned Faiers sisters. Ugh! Alas the champion does what the champion wants and the first to object this curious decision is none other than Elisabetta Canalis.

The Italian model-turned-TV showgirl has suffered her share of defeats but she pushed the highly-touted Helena Mattsson close and faced the new kid on the block Dua Lipa earlier this season too. "Just why Lisa doesn't challenge this crop of new singers? Oh, yeah, she wouldn't last five minutes with that bytch...", Elisabetta dismisses Lisa's past-champion provisional and the Beevers' legend remains strangely tight-lipped ahead of tonight's contest. Van Outen even wonders whether Maffia pulls out of the Ambrosio blockbuster deal in case of going down vs Canalis? We know these injuries do happen a lot...

Lisa Maffia wears a red corset, black panties and red gloves. Long black hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Elisabetta Canalis wears a navy blue bikini set and silver gloves. Dark brown hair in loose waves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Lisa refuses to engage in a quick-fire assault that's applied by the Italian model who seems very keen to make an early statement here in Cardiff tonight. Shaking off the rust was always going to be an issue for the former champion and Elisabetta's too experienced in her own right not to take advantage of these circumstances as she splits the singer's mitts and snaps her head back while barking in her speedy efforts. Several of the Italian's opponents have used some nifty footwork to control the distance but Maffia remains glued to the spot and simply soaks up abuse until she can find a clinching response. That's not what coach Denise Lewis had in mind though but it's all Canalis here down the stretch too as the model whacks more crisp shots up the middle to bully the sleepwalking singer around the ring for remainder of the round.

Round 2:
More of the same in the second, Lisa remains stuck in neutral and offers half-hearted single punches that are completely ignored by the rushing Italian. Elisabetta keeps smacking her efforts upstairs and she drives the cumbersome singer into the ropes where she adds a couple of belters to sink Maffia into some early spasms. Alessandra Ambrosio must be loving this wherever she's watching this fight and perhaps Elisabetta hopes to emerge as an eleventh-hour replacement based on her hitherto dominance? She whacks the subdued singer one more time before Lisa finally wakes up and responds with a scything cross on the mouth but that's too little too late to swing the round into the her favor and Canalis sinks under belter on the tummy right at the death.

Round 3:
Maffia shows more agility early in the third and forces Canalis to work her stuff from mid-distance which affects her performance. However the feisty model refuses to change her approach and seeks another slugging dominance which is only tamed when a delightful cross hook nails her on the mouth and triggers the former champion's comeback. Lisa barks in her efforts and she splits the Italian guard before adding a cruel blow to the liver area that bends the model sideways. Elisabetta shouts something in her native tongue but Lisa still beats her for a quick overhand and tags the jaw which allows her to thump the fellow brunette back to the ropes thereafter. Maffia clips the Italian's jugs and keeps her behind a tight earmuff but that's as surprising comeback as anyone inside the Cardiff Arena anticipated and suddenly Canalis gets trapped butt-in-ropes with Lisa trying to smack her in classic JMD fashion only for the bell to halt the progress!

Round 4:
Lisa has well and truly woken up now and slugs it with the wincing Italian in the center of the ring; it's too close too call until a belting hook cripples Canalis and leaves her exposed to an uppercut blast that tags the chin twice! Uh-oh!! Elisabetta wobbles to her heels with a loud scowl and gets beaten for another overhand as Maffia bursts into her lips to inflict immediate swelling. The Italian stunner tries to back off into safety for the first time tonight but Maffia flies in with another powerful hook and thumps the aching foe onto the ropes where she splits the high guard again! Elisabetta tries to respond from the back foot but succumbs to the high-octane drill and gets pinned into the turnbuckle when Maffia connects with more jug muggin' assault. Ugh! Canalis sinks on jelly knees late but the clock comes to her rescue and now Denise Lewis is the loudest woman ringside as the Beevers' have fipped the script on the Italian tourist.

Round 5:
Elisabetta struggles to match her opponent's footwork and gets dragged into another phone booth slugfest; it worked well for the Italian when Maffia was on stand-by mode during the first couple of rounds but now the former champion rolls back the clock to pulverize the wincing model from both flanks! The model's midsection takes a beating that backs her into the ropes where Lisa leans on her and keeps plugging heavy leather... Canalis responds over the top but the intensity of the Brit's attacks proves superior and allows her to reduce the Italian into a shrieking mess... a quick hook on the jaw sends Elisabetta all over the place so she doesn't even notice a wild left hook on the nose THAT PUTS HER DOWN ON THE CANVAS!!! Huh! Lisa roars in delight but is forced into more action since the otherwise rattled Italian recovers at seven. However she remains glued to the ropes and soaks up more abuse straight up the middle. Maffia bursts into the model's cleavage and keeps firing away on speed dial but Canalis somehow withstands the test and stumbles to her stool to finally catch some respite.

Round 6:
Lisa quickly thumps her way to the Italian's midsection and roots her to the spot with a steady jabbing assault that also clips the breasts. Elisabetta just can't stay out of her range and wobbles into more spasms; it's clear she hasn't recovered from that knockdown in the fifth and Maffia will not let her off the hook according to Denise van Outen. The Beevers veteran pounds the aching brunette back to the ropes while easily avoiding a scattered response upstairs. Canalis simply wants to protect her aching midriff down the stretch but Maffia still picks her off and batters into stupor... Ugh! One belting hook on the ribcage too many wobbles the Italian forward and she literally SLIDES DOWN ONTO HER KNEES... she leans forward resting her head against the boards and gets COUNTED OUT in due process. KO6 Lisa Maffia!!!

AFTER: It's a big win for the former champion but that slow start won't make it past the Ambrosio test... Denise van Outen is far from calling Lisa's title shot anything than a mis-match but maybe we're due a genuine upset in one of the championship duels? The divisional straps don't change hands as often as they did five-six years ago and this could be the last time Lisa gets anywhere near one of them...

In the meantime she drags the kneeling Canalis by the hair and forces her to kiss her feet in classic old school Beevers' fashion! Ugh! "I missed THAT feeling!", Lisa pins the conquered model face-down on the boards and vows to spoil all the post-PPV media sessions: "Guess who's baaaack? U missed me? Told ya I'm gonna whup that skinny ass!"

Ugh.. actually, Lisa... you didn't! But it's all about Alessandra Ambrosio next and let's hope the notorious Beevers' stawart puts up a good fight to justify the hype!

Final result: Lisa Maffia def. Elisabetta Canalis KO6.
