Nikki is reinforcing that confidence as she jabs away at young Normani’s face in the opening minute or so of the fight, with the singer not yet in her stride, and Nikki looks like she’s sensing a result to night as she follows her left jab with a right cross or two, making the debutante back off, and she’s already looking to pin Normani to the ropes, but the younger girl’s too good for that, and she quickly strikes back, hitting and hurting Nikki with good punches to her face, three lefts and a right, and that right hand looks a vicious tool for the girl to have at her disposal, and she’s turned Nikki around, then she’s treating her like a novice, laying into her with left and right hooks to her body, Nikki in distress, looking towards her corner, her arms dropping, and in steams Normani, thudding a couple of heavy right hooks into Nikki’s face – but there’s the bell, and Nikki survives, although she is very shaky on her feet, stumbling and falling to her knees in her corner

Nikki has received a lot of attention from her corner between rounds, whereas Normani has hardly bothered to sit down, and when the bell starts round 2, she rips into Nikki’s body with more solid punches, and the older girl drops to her knees in front of her, Nikki cradling her ribs, as she squeals and weeps in pain, Normani gesturing for her to get up, but she isn’t keen, only her pride getting her vertical as the referee’s slow count reaches 8, the guy grinning at the actress’s discomfort, a discomfort made immediately worse as Normani hurts her again with a straight, solid punch to her gut, gumshield falling to the canvas as her jaw drops open, and a swift, stabbing left uppercut sets her up for the right hook which finishes her off

Result: Normani Kordei knocked out Nikki Sanderson in round 2

The result may have been what Normani wanted, but more resistance might have told us how good she is, because Nikki just folded like a pack of cards tonight, and looks washed up now, with a queue of younger girls forming to add her scalp to their records
