Jade Ewen vs Mandy Capristo

BEFORE: Former Sugababes singer Jade Ewen has struggled to elbow her way past stablemates Samia Ghadie and Michelle Keegan but several pundits and fans believe she can make a proper run at the flyweight title again having lost her initial shot to Jenna Coleman a little over four years ago. Meanwhile Mandy Capristo was eyeing a similar rise up the ranks following six wins in a row until both Michelle Keegan and Maria Ozawa handed her some heavy losses to raise doubts about the German's true contender status. The Lioness COVID Relief event provides a perfect opportunity for both these singers to make noise again and even BBU TV's Denise van Outen thinks there's too much talent between them to call this a mere undercard opener!

Jade Ewen wears a black bikini set with silver trim & red gloves. Long black hair loose & straight. Mandy Capristo wears a red bikini top, black panties & golden gloves. Light brown hair tied in a half-up ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.

Round 1:
Mandy rips a right cross straight into Jade's mouth to open the action but she struggles to follow through and gets dragged into a lenghty jabbing dispute instead as the Brit wants to make her pay right away. Both girls engage in a furious exchange but lack precision until Mandy finds another head-spinning shot on the chin before she loops a hook into Ewen's temple to wobble her on the heels. Jade fails to swing back from that position and gets pounded onto the ropes where the German drills more shots in the breadbasket to keep the pressure on. No luck for Jade here as she has to deploy the earmuff defense while Capristo keeps plugging more blows into her tummy until the referee pulls her away at the bell.

Round 2:
Mandy comes out swinging again but Jade is ready for this and neutralizes the jabbing danger before tackling the German's midsection herself. She drills Capristo in the navel and digs a shoulder into her boobs which wobbles the younger brunette; Mandy tries to swing back but loses her momentum and gets caught from the inside as Jade suddenly rips a brutal double on the chin and tears into her mouth with more juice thereafter. Mandy scowls in pain and gets bounced onto the ropes where Ewen traps her underneath more speed dial jabs to assume total control of the action. Mandy sends half-hearted response from behind the guard but eats one nasty hook after another and her lips begin to swell come the final minute when Jade ups the tempo and leaves the German on soft knees following an uppercut series that nails her flush on the jaw several times.

Round 3:
Capristo wants to respond in a slugging fashion but Jade outworks her in close range and begins to split the high guard in repeated fashion before blasting the younger brunette on the nose to boot. Ugh! Mandy wobbles to her heels again and has little chance to avoid a booming right hand that drills her on the boobs, she bends to the side and Jade simply SMOKES her with a left hook on the ear that SENDS THE GERMAN CRASHING DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE!!! The proud Brit struts back to coach Denise Lewis while Mandy gets up gingerly and looks to be in a spot of bother even after the standard eight count. She bails out towards the ropes and has Ewen chasing her around before the Brit connects with more jabs on target and traps the reeling woman on the turnbuckle. Mandy tries to clinch her foe but only eats more pesky shots in the gut and slumps into loud spasms at the bell with Jade yelling in delight instead!

Round 4:
Jade wastes little time to pounce on the seemingly vulnerable opponent and cracks a left/right combo before smacking the subdued German on the nose. Ugh! Mandy slumps into more spasms and remains glued to the spot while Ewen rips a drilling harpoon on the liver area to turn her to the side before looping another hook on the ear. Uh-oh! Capristo goes numb and drops her gloves by her side so Jade BOOMS another vicious cross hook on the nose to SEND HER CRASHING DOWN FLAT ON HER BACK!!! Big-time punch from the former Sugababe who indicates to the ref it's all over but Mandy refuses to go away! She makes a wobbly comeback at eight and vows to continue until the ref makes eye contact with Mel B. in the Lioness corner and waves the fight OFF!!! No objections from Mel B. here as the fight has long gone south of the Lioness faithful. TKO4 Jade Ewen!!!

AFTER: Jade is very much ready for prime time but remains one of the most underrated flyweights in BBU history. Mel B. tells her to keep social distancing (aka "Zip it!") so she celebrates with Denise Lewis instead and even Denise van Outen is curious whether these two are plotting how to finally get more attention than Samia Ghadie. Meanwhile Mandy can't embrace this loss at all and argues her case until Mel B. lets her know the writing was very much on the wall. Mandy is a proud woman alright but she's leaking way too many punches lately and perhaps those rumours about Ewelina Lisowska stealing the Lioness thunder both in & out of the ring are taking a mental toll on the German as well. Whatever the problem is, Mel B. & her crew must fix it quick or else Mandy will be reduced to mere gatekeeping duty going forward.
