Levy Tran vs. Naomi Scott

Results: Lookout!; Story: Front Street

BEFORE:

Pair of what our former commissioner would have called "exotics" do battle in this one, with the fast-rising Naomi Scott looking like a huge mountain to climb for the lovely, athletic Levy Tran, who's making her FCBA debut a full year after being signed to The Fighting Academy. But, if Scott's taking the newbie lightly, she's not letting on. "No question, she's dangerous. I've seen videos of her fights at lower levels. She's very quick, hits hard, moves well. But, this is that classic situation. There are LOTS of girls she can beat. I'M not one of them."

"Naomi's gotten a lot of opportunities," says a hard-eyed Levy. "And, to her credit, she's taken advantage. But. Tonight is MY opportunity. And, I'm going to take advantage, too."

ROUND ONE:

Scott was apparently not blowing smoke about having respect for Tran's power. Rather than go right after the older brunette, she's engaging in some early recon. And, so is Levy. Tran cat-like in her movements, feinting, moving the feet and hands, so very, very smooth. Scott jabbing here and there, wants to locate with the left, but having trouble doing it. Tran is just so hard to find. She's not dancing around or anything. She's just silkily moving, almost gliding, feather light on her feet, snapping out quick left hands, probing, and, as the round goes on, finding that she's able to get to spots and get off in combination. Tran's hands are fast, out and back, and, while she doesn't hurt Naomi with any of her late flurries, she snaps the head back a couple of times, sending sweat flying. At the bell, Tran's final minute proves the difference. She wins her first FCBA round close and takes the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

More tactical stuff. Tran moving well, slipping and dipping, getting to her spots and getting off quickly, then slipping away. Scott patient. Not getting frustrated. She keeps working the jab, moving, looking to locate, keeping that dangerous right hand cocked and ready. But, Levy's not giving her many opportunities to use it. Asian beauty is just so smooth and athletic that Scott can't get the range. Slowly but surely, Tran builds a lead. She's getting off in combination, scoring points, and frustrating Scott's attempts to...BOOM! Right hand, NAOMI! Scott finds the range and Tran is HURT! Levy stumbling backward, wobbly legged and a RIGHT HOOK FROM SCOTT AND DOWN GOES TRAN! Levy spills to her right side. Naomi to a neutral corner. Ref counting down on Tran. Levy struggling, trying to get off the canvas, but CAN'T DO IT! The count passes her by and it's OVER! And your winner by KO2 is Naomi Scott!

AFTER:

Scott shaking her head. "I'm going to tell you," Naomi says. "If this girl gets fights, she's going to cause ALL KINDS of problems. She's just VERY hard to find and extremely quick. And, she's got a chin, too. That shot I hit her with? It would have put down three quarters of this division, but she stayed on her feet. I eventually got her, but, that's ME. Most girls? They aren't going to be able to handle her."
