Alyssa Lynch vs Margaret Qualley

BEFORE:
“To be honest, I’m more looking forward to kicking Samara’s ass in the sand next month. Sure, Margaret’s been making a name for herself in Hollywood, but she clearly doesn’t have experience to stand toe-to-toe with me in a fight tonight. We’ll see what happens, but I don’t have high hopes for her.”

“You can hope all you want - it’s not going to change the fact you’re overrated and overhyped,” Margaret bites back from across the table. “Alyssa’s had some experience, sure, but she lacks the hunger and drive that I have to make it big time. It’s only a matter of time before she gets exposed for the fraud she is.”

Tense staredown at the podium as the pair of brunettes come nose-to-nose, face-to-face as they set each other with heavy glares. They look as though they're almost gonna come to blows as Alyssa shouts for Margaret to take back her words, though Qualley doesn’t look like she has any intention of doing so. Pair of girls of the same height and built, so we’re eager to see them face off in a battle of similar styles.

Hours later, back in the ring, Alyssa’s wearing a black sports bra, white denim shorts and a pair of red gloves, her toned body showing off her recent gym training. Margaret looks sensational as well, her black hair tied up tight into a ponytail as she stretches in her corner in a grey sports bra and hot denim shorts. HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
Alyssa torches the ground wide in the first round, snapping jabs into Margaret’s face without hesitation as the fight kicks off at high gear. Margaret, still an up-and-coming fighter as she is a Hollywood darling, can’t quite keep pace with the Vixen’s constant movement and speed as Lynch exploits her opponent’s inexperience. Girls trade punches in tandem at several points in the round but it’s always Alyssa who comes out on top in the exchange, grunting as she gets leather shoved into her lips before rocking a haymaker or two across the forehead or into the body. Bell rings and it’s one hell of a disaster for the GBS corner, as their girl gets hella banged up in this opening three minutes.

ROUND 2:
Qualley, however, has never been more fit than she has now. She picks up her own speed to match Alyssa’s - perhaps all she needed was just a tune-up in the first round, because here in the second, she starts to hurt Lynch back with aggression that matches the Vixen’s speed. When you can’t beat them, then beat them down, that’s what people say, as Margaret tries to ignore the constant attacks to her face and body by going all-in on her opponent at certain intervals, surprising Alyssa with a straight hand outta nowhere or another hook catching her on the ribs, as Qualley’s aggressive tactics begin to pay off. Lynch can’t quite get away from her opponent in time, as Margaret’s wild and unpredictable punches keep landing all over till the bell. Lynch needs to do more here than just exploit her foe's inexperience, and she regroups at a distance before returning fire to stave off a complete shutout.

ROUND 3:
Back to basics as Lynch refocuses, more than ready for Qualley, who comes in hot a second time in a row. Now, however, Lynch is keeping pace with the rookie just fine, scooting backwards at the first sign of trouble and then avoiding sudden lunges towards her head or body. Instead, Margaret gets a dose of leather in turn as Alyssa counter-punches with ease: whap whap whap to the nostrils and forehead as the Vixen lights her up like the first round, smirking as a final one-two combo ends with a snap uppercut to the chin that almost wobbles the other brunette. Qualley falls back into tatters, has to reevaluate her strategy going forward as her repeated rushes tonight are getting blunted. Unfortunately, for the rest of this round, she spends it defending against more harassing jabs chasing her head back.

ROUND 4:
Alyssa attempts the same tactics in the fourth but gets shocked when Margaret also CIRCLES around and away instead of coming straight at her, before the GBS starlet powers a right cross suddenly through the middle of her arms, which grazes her on the lips. Stung and bothered, Lynch is thrown back on the defensive as the taller Qualley tries her own hand at fighting from a distance. It’s still pretty much experimental at this stage, but Qualley gets the job accomplished if her objective was to keep Lynch at arm’s length, then pester her continuously with left and right jab combos. It's Alyssa’s turn to rethink her strategy as she squeezes in some of her own combos, battering leather back on the nose and mouth, but finds herself also on the receiving end just a little too often, ultimately cursing her luck when the bell rings and she realises she’s lost the round by a narrow margin.

ROUND 5:
Qualley presses in like last time, hoping to break Alyssa’s serve in this tie-breaker of a fifth round. Lynch holds her ground, however, responding to Qualley’s charge with a sudden haymaker of her own to the arms that stuns the brunette actress to the spot and stops her advance in its tracks. Alyssa forces her way in, banging more mitts off the tummy, further driving Margaret backwards, but then has to swerve dangerously out of the way when Margaret counters suddenly with a hook of her own sent across the face. Ladies both want the win tonight, and it shows, with each of them taking turns to drive each out towards the ropes. Ultimately, Lynch proves the more experienced of the two, lighting up Qualley’s face again with just a few too many jabs when the actress wasn’t paying attention, till a final straight cross slams hard into the actress' chin, which wobbles Qualley badly! Lynch with a final, step-in BLAST to the lips with that beautiful cross, and DOWN QUALLEY GOES! She's absolutely sent off her feet, collapsing by the ropes on all fours! It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Alyssa Lynch! Referee starts the 10-count as Lynch huffs and puffs and grins from above, before returning to the neutral corner. Qualley valiantly attempting to recover but her legs are darned shaky, her head swimming as she tries to rise off her knees repeatedly, but fails, sinking back down with a loud groan! The ref hits the count of 10 and has no choice but to WAVE this fight off!! It’s OVER!

Official Decision: Alyssa Lynch defeats Margaret Qualley via KO4!

AFTER:
Lynch may have started this year with a disappointing foot backward, but yet another win over a named superstar means she remains on the right path, for now. The Vixen actually shows some remorse after the fight, offering Qualley a hand and then pulling the newcomer back up to her feet. They share some words of encouragement after, with Lynch knowing all too well the pressures and pitfalls of those early fights in her career.

“I feel for her - I do,” Lynch later says to reporters. “Those early losses sting. But I hope she sticks to it. Qualley might make a name for herself in the business before long.”
