3. Jamie Pang vs Hayley Lee

BEFORE:
“We certainly do work out together a lot,” Jamie turns to Hayley on the far side of the table, “but I didn’t know she has been boxing secretly for the past few years.”

“Neither did I know you box too, Jamie!” Hayley interrupted with a smile. “Looks like today we can put a rest to the internet debate as to who’s the better girl!”

“Indeed! Still workout buddies after this?” Jamie asked.

“Don’t worry, this is just a sparring session. No matter who wins,” Hayley turned to the camera and winks mouthing ‘it’s me’, “we are still good after this.”

The two girls rose from their seat and came face-to-face with their fists up for the cameras. After the pose, the pair shares a quick hug and leaves the stage.

Fight night, the pair of workout buddies makes their final preparation for their fight. Jamie’s dressed in a grey sports bra, pink sports brief and red gloves with her hair up in a tight ponytail. Opposite her, Hayley’s clad in green sports bra, black sports briefs and white gloves with her hair in a french braid. Referee sounds the bell for ten rounds!

ROUND 1:
The pair of friends exchange pleasantries by touching gloves. The round starts off slow, with both girls throwing light punches to gauge each other's reach. As Hayley realizes that her reach is further, she begins to commit harder punches while Jamie quickly goes on a defense. By letting Hayley land shots on her arms and gloves, Jamie feels for the moment when Hayley’s punches get weak and unfocused before launching a clean straight into Hayley’s face! The leather sends Hayley backpedaling with her guard raised. Flustered by the counter-punch, Hayley quickly throws a wild swing after blocking a jab, but Jamie ducks under and hooks her in the ribs. Last 10 seconds, Jamie rushes in and throws a flurry of punches at her friend’s face, managing to land a few clean shots, giving Jamie a wide lead. Jamie attempts to hug her friend after the bell but Hayley shoves her off!

ROUND 2:
Jamie comes out of the corner looking concerned and offers a glove contact, but Hayley simply raises her guard. Contrary to the first round, Hayley takes a more measured approach in the second round, throwing lesser but more effective punches to Jamie’s mid-section. Jamie bites through the blow, not realizing that Hayley’s punches are cutting her down bit by bit. Without the feel of Hayley’s punches, Jamie’s attempts at counter punching are largely unsuccessful, landing only a couple on the shoulders and side chest. Hayley’s body shots begin to bear fruit in the last 10 seconds; Jamie crunches to protect her body leaving her head exposed for a strong right hook! Jamie stumbles sidewards into the ropes, one arm hanging onto it for support while the other covers her face. Hayley capitalizes on the opportunity and lands consecutively body blows to the belly and ribs. The bell goes off but Hayley continues her offense, causing Jamie to shout “REF! REF!”. The ref quickly steps in and asks Hayley to return to her corner while Jamie slumps onto her knees, looking furious.

ROUND 3:
Despite just two rounds, their bodies are already glistening with sweat with beads rolling down their flushed cheeks. Both girls go straight into action without touching gloves. Jamie keeps her distance from Hayley, occasionally feinting a charge-in to make Hayley throw a punch. The strategy works well for Jamie as Hayley begins to tire herself. Out of frustration, Hayley overcommits a right straight allowing Jamie to step in and fire a right hook at her lower jaw! Hayley stumbles forward but quickly turns 180 with a raised guard to face Jamie. Jamie continues to dominate for the rest of the minute until the bell signals for her to stop. The match swings in Jamie’s favor.

ROUND 4:
Both girls stare daggers into each other’s eyes as they step out of their corner. Cheers from the crowd are split evenly between the two heartful fighters. The first minute sees both girls trading stiff punches equally towards each other’s face, sweat misting off the heads with every landing. Every time each girl gets overwhelmed, they would clinch to the other to breathe. Hayley lands a clean uppercut in the last 3 seconds causing Jamie to fall back into the ropes. Before Hayley can mount on any further offense, the bell signals for the end of the round saving Jamie from what could be a match ending beatdown. The match swings in Hayley’s favor with a lead close.

ROUND 5:
Both girls look spent by the fifth round, but determined to get the win. Hayley comes in strong, forcing Jamie into an unexpected retreat, protecting her head at the expense of taking the abuse on her body. Jamie wobbles and takes a clean hook to the head, but quickly recovers. Hayley continues to pressure Jamie into the corner but Jamie manages to swerve out of it, making Hayley chase her. Down to the last minute, Hayley begins to heave heavily and struggles to put accuracy into her punches. Jamie begins to fight back in the last minute, ducking every punch easily and swiping Hayley’s chin right and left. Hayley’s arms soon drop to her side in a stupor giving Jamie clean hits in her cheeks. Jamie musters all her energy and lets out a triumphant cry as she swings a strong right into the side of Hayley’s face! DOWN GOES HAYLEY! Jamie scores the first knockdown of the match. Glassy-eyed, Hayley tries to sit up but drops back down on every attempt - the referee counts to 10! It’s over!

Official decision: Jamie Pang defeats Hayley Lee via KO5

AFTER:
Even though she has won, Jamie is too tired to show any expression. Instead, she straddles over Hayley’s head and sits on her chest, her sweat-soaked briefs under Hayley’s chin. “I tried to be nice! But you gotta play rough! This is not over Hayley! I’ll see you in the ring again!” Jamie remarks and struggles to her feet, letting the ref raise her arm as the audience in attendance applaud the performance by both girls.
