Kelly Gale vs Kelsey Merritt

Results: Lookout!; Story: OddManOut

Before: Jeri Ryan: "Typical opener material.  Not a lot to choose from in this pairing.  Three FCBA bouts between them, and they've lost them all."

Jenny O'Dell:  "Gale is bringing a decent BBU record and a two-inch height advantage.  On the other hand, Odd Man's past successes with Claire Holt, Tahnee Atkinson and Samara Weaving gives him a lot of credibility when he brings on a Pac Rim fighter.  People who don't have initials T. V. sit up and take notice when that happens!"

Lindsay Lohan:  "The shorter girl has the advantage on the sand, that's why Kate Upton and I don't have very good records on it."

Jeri Ryan: "That's A reason, yes..."

Jenny: "AAND here's Kelly Gale making her entrance in a lavender bikini, white gloves, hair loose but wetted and slicked back.  Beach-savvy enough to go barefoot for the sand bout."

Jeri: "Kesley Merritt making her way out in a simple white bikini, black gloves, hair also wet and slicked."

Lohan: "Both doing a little dancing and shuffling during the instructions,  giving the fans something to look at.  I always liked to do that."

O'Dell:  And back to their corners for the opening bell..."

R1: Ryan: “And here we go in the opening round and it’s a Nice opening rush for Merritt. She’s pressing, forcing Kelly back into the ropes and not happy about it.”

O’Dell: “Setting up to work the body now, and Merritt’s got her left shoulder jammed up into Gale’s armpit, forcing the right up and away from the action.”

Lohan: “Chrissy and Demi did that to me when we fought for the JMD title. I used to wrap ‘em up in a headlock and throw ‘em to the canvas. Fans loved it when we were rolling around!”

Ryan: “Well, Girls Friday doesn’t do much JMD these days, but Kelly needs to do SOMETHING to get out of this pocket!”

O’Dell: “And lo and behlold, she wraps up Kelsey in a headlock…”

Lohan (interrupting) “See?”

O’Dell: “Yes, Lindsay. And that gets the ref’s break. Gale trying to keep things out at arms-length, Merritt trying to cut inside again.”

Ryan: “And there’s the bell. Kelsey showing the pressure fighter look that’s been an O&E signature!”

R2: O’Dell: “Second round starting and Gale manages to unpack the jab to catch the oncoming rush from Merritt!”

Ryan: “Very good, very professional from Kelly, she’s popping her in the chest to freeze Kelsey outside, then scoring with the right cross!”

O’Dell: “Good clockwise, circling motion, right out of the textbook. She’s keeping Merritt out on the perimeter, denying her the chance to pile on from last round!”

Ryan: “But Kelsey weaves inside, working jugs and paunch, Gale legging her way clear!”

Lohan: “That’s a mistake. When a girl makes it inside like that, you have to make her respect you! Otherwise she’ll think you’re scared to mix it up!”

O’Dell: “Maybe. Maybe not. But she’s managed to take the round. And the towel girl isn’t going to have to cover her up while she brushes the sand out of her bikini bottoms!”

R3: O’Dell: “Opening the third round, and Kelly is still committing to the jab!”

Ryan: “Gale scoring to Merritt’s mouth, hooking jugs, then pivoting clockwise.”

Lohan: “But Kelsey’s walking through the poke, and clapping her upside the head!”

O’Dell: “Fast hands flying both ways, hard to tell who’s coming ahead.”

Ryan: “OOH! Not anymore! Gale BURIES a shoveling left hook into Merritt’s belly!”

Lohan: “Kelsey’s bunching up falling back! This is how you give a bully her own back!”

O’Dell: “Merritt crouching and covering, Gale looming up and jamming away side-to-side.”

Ryan: “There’s the bell, but Gale’s still punching. Ref has her by the elbow and finally puts this round to bed.”

R4: Ryan: “And we’re starting the fourth. Merritt jabbing Gale’s guard, then doubling it into a slap-chop to the rack!”

O’Dell: “And Gale’s whirling back in flurries. They’re pushing inside for back and forth action now.”

Lohan: “This is what the fans wanted to see! And they’re showing it!”

O’Dell: “Gale’s rhythm is definitely off this round, she’s coming off second best.”

Ryan: “Merritt’s clinching up around the hips to smother receipts, Gale’s still bouncing punches off the sides, but not doing much damage before the ref breaks ‘em up.”

O’Dell: “Gale muscled back onto the ropes at the bell, some shoving both ways, things are getting hot in there, two rounds in a row without a clean break!”

R5: O’Dell: “Opening the fifth, it’s Gale bringing the fight to Merritt early on.”

Ryan: “She’s got a grip on Merritt’s right wrist and she’s whipping right hands into her ribs and belly.”

Lohan: “But Kelsey wraps her up in a headlock and now they’re bundled up and wrestling until the ref’s break.”

Ryan: “Gale going over to the pressure fighting, now driving Merritt to a seat in the ropes.”

O’Dell: “Merritt wrapping in another headlock, but Gale is still getting work done to the body.”

Ryan: “And there’s the bell, Gale putting her stamp on things to close out the first half!”

R6: Ryan: “Here we go again, Gale’s snapping that jab once again!”

O’Dell: “But Merritt keeps pushing through it, can she cut off the ring and force the fight on Gale?”

Ryan: “Moving into the second minute that jab is getting a little slower, Merritt staring to close the gap.”

Lohan: “And now she’s got her head on Kelly’s shoulder! Starting to roll that her shoulders while she works, I hated it when people did that to me!”

O’Dell: “Gale trying to clinch, but it’s Merritt muscling her onto the ropes!”

Ryan: “Hot two way hooking and crosses in the corner now!”

Lohan: “AND HER HEAD JUST GOT SNAPPED TO HER SHOULDER! SHE BOUNCES OFF THE ROPES AND GOES DOWN! THE REF’s COUNTING ….AND COUNTING….AND THAT”S A KO FOR KELLY!

Announcer: “YOUR WINNER BY KNOCKOUT IN THE SIXTH ROUND, KELSEY MERRITT!

O’Dell: “Sorry Lindsay, but it was KellY who went down. KelSEY got the win.”

Lohan: (pulls headset off and runs backstage)

Ryan: We’re sorry for the confusion, folks. We’ll have to do better going on this afternoon, and hopefully Lindsay will join us again soon! But for now, on with the show!”

(Note:  Lookout made a bit of an error in the final round.  Not anything that couldn't be sorted out with a second reading, and let's face it it was probably our fault for having Kelly fight Kelsey.  [In retrospect, having Rosie Mac fight Demi Rose wasn't the best idea either]  But I thought I'd try a format that would let me commemorate it.  I don't think either of us will be making a habit of it)
