BEFORE: It's time for the Main Event and potential passing of the torch as Federica Nargi wants to strip Elisabetta Canalis off the Italian Lightweight title. Both these models enjoyed a celebrity break through as 'velines' on Striscia la Notizia TV show several years ago and they've truly come a long way since. Federica just signed a contract with the Glamour Boxing Academy and is viewed as a real contender for BBU lineal title; she couldn't beat Miranda Kerr back in December but several pundits believe she will earn another opportunity at the straps before too long if she keeps winning high-profile bouts.

Meanwhile Elisabetta has struggled for big wins lately and might be demoted to journeywoman status if she loses the national title here in Rome tonight.

Round 1:
Elisabetta gets the early jump on the fellow brunette and laces her up the middle with some crisp strikes before Federica responds over the top in slugging manner which leads into a hectic back & forth display much to the crowd's delight. Elisabetta still lands a nasty hook on the nose that wobbles the challenger to the side and manages to stick another jabbing rally into her face that finally forces Nargi to spin out of the phone booth stance. Elisabetta tries to follow through with more head shots but can't quite match the younger brunette's mobility - however she keeps her in retrat mode and threatens to flick more piercing shots as the opening round descends into a tactical slow-burner. Federica dismisses the older model as "weak puncher" during the break but she'll have to show some promise herself or else Canalis will gain more confidence.

Round 2:
Federica gets more aggressive as both women exchange another head-hunting rally before the younger model blasts her opponent on the nose and sticks immediate follow up on the jaw. Elisabetta gets stuck on her heels and struggles to loop her response on target as Nargi blows her in the mouth with more venom and pounds her onto the ropes in quick order! Huh! Federica feels the support of the Roman crowd and secures the slugging supremacy as she whacks Canalis up the middle and drops her behind a desperate earmuff before the older model can lock a clinching stalemate. It's still not enough to shut Nargi down as she plugs the older brunette in the navel and digs an elbow in the chest to shake Elisabetta off before landing a haymaker bomb on the nose. Ugh! Canalis bends to the side with a whimper and gets laced with more head shots as Federica forges ahead and leaves the reigning champion scowling in disarray at the bell.

Round 3:
Elisabetta gets up early and tries to smoke Federica with more aggressive hooks but she bounces off her forearms too often and struggles to embrace a steady overhand response that gradually backs her onto the ropes during the opening minute. Federica maintains the head-hunting assault and has Canalis dancing around in pure avoidance down the stretch when the younger model's punches begin to take it's toll. Elisabetta gets whacked repeatedly from both flanks and prefers to hang back in mid-distance come the final minute. She looks rather lost over the inability to work Nargi over in close range and has to come up with a plan soon or else the younger 'veline' really begins to dominate the action.

Round 4:
Federica blitzes the older brunette up the middle and secures another ruthless connection with Elisabetta's face which finally results in some visible lumps as Canalis stops majority of the fellow model's punches with her face! Federica owns the superior mobility already and now she traps Elisabetta in the center of the ring and plugs more leather into her face before driving a rare combo up her gut as well. Elisabetta has to clinch the fellow veline but gets thumped onto the ropes where Nargi barges her in the chest and works with half-uppercut drive to punch the Italian champion into a standstill. Ugh! Canalis slumps into loud spasms and gets scythed across the mouth as Federica continues to land all the power punches; she leaves Canalis shaking her head at the bell while holding a 39-37 lead on the cards.

Round 5:
Elisabetta gets more desperate as she tries to outslug the younger veline in close range but the slugging brawl blows up in her face when Federica cuts her across the nasal ridge and hammers a left hook on the ear that folds the Sardinia native forward. Ugh! Federica is quick to react and cracks an uppercut double on the chin that sends Canalis flying onto the ropes where she sinks underneath a brutal jabbing rally that has Nargi firmly on top! The younger model cranks up the punching volume and dissects Elisabetta's guard before thumping her on the nose often enough she renders her numb. Uh-oh!!! Elisabetta's guard collapses by her side and Federica SMOKES her with a brutal right hook on the mouth that bellows the older brunette's eyes into her brains as she CRASHES FACE-FIRST at Nargi's feet in ugly train wreck fashion moments later!!! Huh! That was a big one and Elisabetta remains face down during the count to indicate she simply broke down under pressure to rise no more. Cue in those early celebrations in the GBA corner as this one is over!!! NINE... TEN... YER OUT!!! KO5 and the NEW Italian Lightweight champion - Federica Nargi!!!

AFTER: We have a new Queen in town and Federica jumps on top of the ropes to salute her home fans as she takes the national title in some style! She truly demolished Elisabetta Canalis after a slow start and left zero questions over her elite aspirations according to most pundits. Watch out for this veline to make some noise when it comes to BBU lineal title sooner rather than later again!

Italy made a great start to the Euro 2020 tournament and Federica's partner is a former footballer as well so the party atmosphere is set to continue for few days if not weeks; the new champion is quick to pose for a selfie galore and she's truly earned her moment in the sun! The Italian LW title card concludes with three wins for the local favorites so the VIP afterparty will be one loud experience alright!
