BEFORE: Katarina Johnson-Thompson's calf injury robbed us of the classic heptathlon showdown but long jumper Darya Klishina has agreed to step in as late replacement so the BBU Olympic Games boxing showpiece can go ahead after all. Ivona Dadic finished 8th in the heptathlon event and hopes to leave Tokyo on even a higher note while Klishina simply seeks any kind of success after dropping out in qualifying. It was rumoured Dadic might actually clash with another long jumper Ivana Spanovic but the Serbian woman was too upset over her fourth place finish to answer the bell on short notice follwing Johnson-Thompson's untimely injury!

Ivona Dadic wears a white & red vest, black hip-huggers & red gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a custom ponytail. Darya Klishina wears a navy blue vest with a green trim, matching hip-huggers & silver gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a braid. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.

Round 1:
Darya's lighter body of work at these Games gives her an early advantage as she steps up to pummel the Austrian around the ring in the opening minute. She aims her punches upstairs and clips Ivona's chin several times before the younger blonde eventually begins to move around and escape the Russian's attacks. However she doesn't really send much leather back and allows Klishina to continue on the prowl down the stretch. Darya's mobility isn't exactly anything special here but she gradually outworks the subpar opponent in mid-distance and thumps Dadic onto the ropes come the final minute. She rattles the Austrian woman with a couple of big hooks on the temples but gets clinched late as the younger blonde has no better ideas how to hang on until the bell.

Round 2:
More of the same in the second, Darya's superior reach allows her outwork Ivona early on and the Austrian blonde prefers to bail out of the slugging exchange which triggers a hectic Russian pounce for majority of the round. Ivona ducks underneath the aerial assault and tries her chances pounding away into Klishina's midsection before a looping left shot nails her on the temple and drops into another hectic retreat. Darya keeps coming at the reeling opponent but struggles to match Dadic's mobility and has to settle for artistic impression advantage as she just can't land that haymaker breakthrough. Meanwhile Ivana stuns Darya with a late combo on the chest before landing a quick uppercut on the jaw right at the bell - too late to steal the round but showing a competitve edge against the run of play.

Round 3:
Darya gets more aggressive and locks Dadic into a phone booth action but eats a booming right hand on the chest and struggles to properly stretch her elbows thereafter while the Austrian woman spikes her up the chimney in speed dial fashion. Ugh! She snaps Klishina's head back and makes her groan in pain when she loops a left hook onto the eye as well. Darya tries to swing over the top but misses over Ivona's head and eats another uppercut series on the chest that glues her to the spot. She tries to clinch the fellow blonde but Dadic stays in the jabbing lane and outworks the Russian to the point Darya ends the round hugging the ropes as Ivona cleans up her midriff in aggressive fashion outright.

Round 4:
Ivona uses her speed to beat Darya to the punch as she sends more body shots amid wild slugging exchange in the middle of the ring. Darya keeps aiming upstairs but bounces off the top of Ivona's forehead and just can't stick her charge before the Austrian whacks her in the solar plexus that makes the difference on the spot. Darya wobbles to her heels with a loud whimper and gets quickly pounded back to the ropes as Dadic kicks into a higher gear and pounces on her opportunity. She clobbers the Russian into a precarious spot but still eats a wild hook on the nose as Klishina finds her zone while seemingly trapped in real trouble here. Both blondes dish out more single strikes before Darya stalls her rival into a lenghty headlock to run out of the clock. Ivona gives her a mighty death stare but Darya matches the eyeball intensity regardless.

Round 5:
More jabbing action raises the noise inside the Olympic village as Darya rocks the Austrian across the nose and keeps sending bombs into her face hoping to land that one big slam dunk punch that puts Dadic down for the count. Ivona ducks underneath the assault and targets the long jumper's midsection instead - she spikes the liver area but skims off the hip with a follow up and gets thumped on the chin as Klishina stretches her elbows in style. She pummels the briefly stunned heptathlete onto the ropes and NAILS her on the mouth with a big piledriver. Ivona wobbles to the side with a whimper but still fires back into the Russian's body and makes Darya squeal when she lands a nasty shot on the solar plexus. Darya shoots wide moments later and eats a left/right double on the chin before Ivona drops one last uppercut on the breasts right at the bell.

Round 6:
Darya keeps coming at the Austrian rival but becomes extremely unproductive early in the sixth when the younger blonde waltzes around the aerial attacks and punishes the longer jumper to the body instead. She enforces a close range dust up after leaping forward and bumping Klishina off in jug-to-jug contact. No head-butting tricks in the process and Ivona just lays it down hard into the older blonde's midsection before she drops her butt-in-ropes where she eats a left hook on the brow ridge but then pierces Darya's solar plexus with superior power. Ugh! Klishina folds forward with a whimper but just can't clinch the Austrian into a stalemate as Dadic SMOKES her with a booming right hand on the jaw!!! DOWN GOES DARYA!!! The older blonde hits the deck on her right side and stares down at her foe's shins for a while as Ivona is unaware she must head back to neutral corner ASAP. This delay gives the fallen Russian extra time to recover and Darya gets up at eight while trying to fend off the looming charge. Ivona looks around the area and jumps into a knockout pursuit - she cuts Klishina's lips into a bloody mess but doesn't find the all-important killer shot until she starts working to the body again. Darya leans forward and bumps her head off Dadic's forehead before the Austrian starts thumping more uppercuts on the chest to cripple the long jumper into loud spasms... can Ivona get the work done before the bell? YES!!! She drops Klishina down on her knees amid a loud battle cry and this time the Russian stunner rolls to her side to rise no more as the count passes her by literally five seconds before the bell! KO6 Ivona Dadic!!!

AFTER: Ivona poses for the cameras flexing her right biceps and shakes off a couple of visible lumps on her face with a big smile anyway. She offers the dazed Russian a quick hug before Darya eventually heads back to the locker room leaving the Austrian to soak up all the cheers on her own: "Hey, my athletics season is kinda over now but I wouldn't mind testing Ivana Spanovic out there! I was unsure if I can look competitive enough in boxing but I suppose the answer is 'Yes'? I hope someone lets that Serbian girl know I'm ready for her whenever she wants to play!" (winks).
