(Written by Girls Friday/Results by Lookout!)

Intro:
We kick off this special night for the Girls Friday stable in the Utilita Arena inn Newcastle with a battle of managers, the manager of Global Boxing Syndicate the ageless Liz Hurley fights the assistant manager of the Girls Friday stable Melanie Sykes, which of these stunning British cougars can set the night alight with a win?

Before the fight Melanie posted on the Girls Friday social media account a video of her working out on the punch bag, she added the caption "honoured my boss has decided for me to kick off the anniversary card, I am ready to rumble."

Liz was quick to respond to the post, posting "I hope you don't think that impresses me Melanie or that I am going just to take a dive on your special night, you've never been in my league honey, I am happy to show you why the Global Boxing Syndicate is taking over celebrity boxing, while the Girls Friday stable is creaking like you" along with this photo:

Fight night, there's a mixture of managers from different BBU stables, Melanie's frenemy Sharon Horgan is in the front row with a seat reserved next to her for Melanie, former Girls Friday fighters like Billie Piper and former assistant Claire King are in the VIP section remembering old times in the stable.

Out first walks Liz with her coach Jeri Ryan, Liz is wearing a baby blue satin robe with matching gloves and heels, strutting down the aisle with a confident grin on her face, she slips off her heels next to the ring steps, jogging up them before getting into the ring with arms in the air as she is whistled and cheered.

Here comes Melanie now with Taryn Terrell with her, she is wearing a violet satin robe with matching gloves, black heels as she waves for the fans to stand, smiling warmly at them as she enjoys a loud welcome, kicking off her heels next to the ring steps on her side of the ring, climbing into the ring blowing kisses to the fans.

The referee brings both bare foot women to the center of the ring, the looks on their faces show this isn't going to be simply two older fighters having a sparring session, the robes taken off both age defying women to reveal one piece swimsuits that match their gloves, at that point they square up nose to nose, referee needing to nudge them apart, no touch of gloves as they return to their corners, the bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.

Round 1:
Neither is going to beat most for speed across the boards, still they both show their skills with their head movement, trading stiff jabs as they get a feel for each other, Liz bending more at her waist to drill in straights to the abs of Mel, seeing how tight those abs really are.

Once they get a feel for each other the bigger punches start flying, not landing too clean as they step back to dodge, Melanie tries to step in with a right cross that just misses, instead it's Liz landing two short hooks to the body, trying to muscle back Sykes onto the ropes, some of her punches look borderline on the waistband of the Girls Friday assistants bikini bodies.

Pushing back Liz so she can move off the ropes, landing a double jab as Liz tries to move back in closer, Hurley crouching under a straight to land an uppercut to knock back Sykes again, with Melanie getting roughed up on the inside, Liz using her left forearm to pump back Melanie onto her heels when Melanie lands some clipping punches around the top of her head.

Final minute sees Melanie landing more as she realises she has to open up more, try to keep Liz on the outside, catching the older woman to her face with a few clean one-two's, finishing the round off strong, at the bell though it is a good start for Hurley, who sits on her stool looking relaxed that she can rough up Melanie all night.

Round 2:
Trading more punches when they exchange around the center of the ring, Melanie stepping back when Liz tries to close the gap by crouching down to swing to the body, instead it's a double jab to the top of Hurley's head to make her back off, up on her toes more.

Liz showing her toughness to take some of those punches flush and keep looking to step in with her own punches, she deflects a jab to land a short left to the jaw of her opponent, finishing the opening minute off strong as she takes the center of the ring with short hard punches bashing back Melanie.

A shove presses back Liz, with a one-two smacking her to the face, Melanie needing to get up more onto her toes, moving more side to side to keep the distance where she wants it, making Hurley tighten her guard more as the model knows she can't take combinations all night, especially if Melanie sits down on those punches.

Final forty seconds sees Liz get in a little closer, both women letting their fists do the talking, barking in effort as the crowd whistles and cheers them on, when the round ends they exchange a few taunts as neither will back down to the other woman, sitting on their stools with marks showing on their faces.

Round 3:
Maybe gaining some confidence off her success last round, Melanie is planting her feet more to land more stiffer punches, a right opens a small cut on the bridge of Liz's nose, making Liz grit her mouthpiece as she keeps looking for different angles to strike into.

Giving Liz a little nudge with the left to her face, Melanie lands a right cross to turn the head of her opponent, backing off Hurley to the outside of the ring, drilling in more punches through the mitts of the GBS fighter, till Liz can grab Melanie into a clinch, referee needed to pull them apart as they dig away to the others kidneys, earning a warning.

Once apart Liz is quick off the mark to land an overhand left to turn the head of Melanie, Sykes driven back into a neutral corner by more punches slamming straight into her face, Melanie needing to clinch herself as Liz tries to break free with her right forearm under the chin of Melanie, referee splits them up giving Hurley a stiff warning.

Nearly clashing heads as they dig away in close, Liz enjoying this she gets to land some uppercuts, Melanie landing hard hooks to the side of Liz's head, it gets scruffy as they end up holding and grappling, sweat starting to coat their magnificent bodies, at the bell they push apart, jogging back to their corners to get patched up, Melanie looks to be getting a handle on things, though Liz definitely isn't going away so easily.

Round 4:
Aiming more at the nose of Liz, Melanie is starting off strong again as she knocks back the head of the former champion, Liz needing to put her gloves up more tightly, looking to block then counter as she lands several good punches back at Melanie out her peek-a-boo style guard.

Ducking under a left hook, Liz lands two hard right hooks that looks to lift up Melanie's ribs, crying out as she backs off, Sykes definitely felt those as she isn't throwing her jab as much, throwing stinging straights to try to ward off her opponent as she looks to get time to shake off the pain she is in.

Liz won't be kept off for long, blocking a straight to move in as she lands two short uppercuts to the body, driving back Sykes onto the ropes, with Melanie holding onto her, not letting her open up on her with those hooks again, Liz shoving her head under the chin of Melanie again, referee breaks them up warning Liz if she does that again points will come off her.

When they resume Melanie needing to box defensive, she is getting clocked over the top by overhand shots, Sharon yelling at her frenemy to fight back, at the bell Melanie is rubbing her left side, Liz sitting on her stool shaking her arms to keep them loose, she is wanting to be ready for the bell as she clearly smelling blood in the water.

Round 5:
Back out they come with Melanie hoping her corner has helped her recover, Liz smartly using her experience as she uses feints, throwing single punches looking to create openings, getting popped with a few jabs herself into the face.

Feinting before she throws a jab upwards after crouching down, LIZ OPENS UP THE GAP SHE WANTS, SWINGING THROUGH HER HIPS LIZ LANDS A RIGHT HOOK RIGHT UNDER THOSE BATTERED RIBS, DOWN GOES MELANIE TO A KNEE, HOLDING HER SIDE!

There's a few boos as Liz laughs as she heads to the neutral corner, 1...2...3... Melanie rubs her side as she spits out her gumshield, 4...5...6.. Taryn nods her head as she looks at her fighter, 7...8.. Maybe in acknowledgement that it's over, 9...10 which is made official soon enough, Melanie is counted out!

Winner Liz Hurley KO Round 5

After:
Well that wasn't how the Girls Friday stable wanted tonight to start, Melanie punching the canvas in frustration at letting her friends down, The winner telling her "I told you that you've never been in my league Mel, should have faked an injury earlier" making Melanie stare up angrily.

Taryn tells Liz to get away from them after she steps into the ring with an ice pack for Melanie, Liz laughing as she heads off towards her own corner, Taryn telling her fighter to ignore Liz, helping to try to numb the pain in Melanie's side, though it'll be harder to help her get over the disappointment of losing this fight.

Liz certainly doesn't have that worry, she sits on her stool with a big smile as Jeri wipes her face down with a towel, Jeri says "maybe we should have you sparring the young fighters in the stable" Liz laughing, replying "I'll stay behind the desk for now" Jeri smiling back warmly.

Up get the fighters and head to the center of the ring for the final result to be announced, Liz getting her left hand raised as Melanie applauds the winner, Liz doesn't pay her any attention though as she turns her back on Melanie, who shakes her head before slowly walking to leave the ring.

While Liz has something on her mind, walking to the side of the ring that Sharon is sitting, pointing at her from in the ring, yelling "be happy you weren't in here with me" maybe not happy with Sharon yelling for Mel, the Irish woman not one to back down, she slips off her heels and waves Liz to come down get some, security holding back Sharon as she looks ready to street fight.

Things seem to calm down after Jeri has a word with Liz, who steps out the ring, like her looks Liz's fighting ability hasn't been dampened by age, she can still beat her fellow cougars as she heads to the back, maybe explains why the Global Boxing Syndicate has one of the set of welterweight prospects in celebrity boxing.
