(Results: Lookout!, Words: Caspian)

2. Guests: Eden Cohen vs Gigi Hadid

Eden:

(24, 5’10, 3:1 FCBA, Free Agent)

Gigi:
(26, 5’10, 6:18 FCBA, The Fighting Academy)

BEFORE:
“Hmph. Eden’s biting off more than she can chew. Who the f*ck is she, anyways, going up against a Victoria’s Secret Angel?” Gigi says haughtily during the pre-fight press junket. “If I have to get through her first before I take care of Sara, so be it. I’m gonna enjoy this tune-up fight.”

Eden looks none too pleased from the opposite end of the room, brushing her dark brown hair to the side before responding in kind:

“Honestly, I feel like I should be the one taking Gigi’s place in the tournament. The only reason she was included last year was because she got hired by the lingerie company. That’s it. She can’t box for sh*t, and I’m going to prove that fact tonight.”

Ladies square off at the VIX podium and it’s a delicate and tense affair, both of them turning their noses up at each other, lean and lanky bodies coming too close for comfort. Both girls are of the same height and built, so it might come down to Hadid’s experience over the relative newcomer in Eden. No shake of the hands as they continue taunting each other to the face, before the fight official finally cuts in and separates them back to corners.

Later, in the ring, Eden’s dressed in a black sports bra, white briefs and red gloves. Gigi has gone for a sunflower swimsuit, hot red thong and black gloves. There’s the bell and HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Lightweight action!

ROUND 1:
Gigi makes short work of the newcomer, dancing and spreading her arms wide whilst sending jabs towards Eden’s face each time the Israeli model comes in too close. Not bad for a girl who hasn’t won a fight since 2018! Her punches look crisp and on-target and fast, stunning Eden in more ways than one as they crunch into her cheek and lips. Hadid wasn’t expected to do so well here, especially against a hungry newcomer, but her long legs and experience means she’s able to quickly get out of harm’s way before firing her jabs into Eden’s face. Cohen’s attacks, by contrast, are wild and unfocused, haphazardly swinging and shoved in Gigi’s direction, hoping to score a punch or two off the grizzly veteran. Eden does manage to connect once or twice with a hard shot to her body or cheek, but for the most part, Hadid takes control early and keeps her cool throughout the opening.

ROUND 2:
More bad news for Cohen, who’s letting her emotions run her strategy going forward. She’s rushing and rushing in at Gigi, hoping to blow her over with sheer quantity of attacks, but her inexperience means Hadid is able to predict her wild movements and then counter with some solid blows sent in between her swings. Hadid slowly beats Cohen backwards, first landing a stiff hand straight to her chin, which dazes her in the very first minute. All downhill for Cohen from there on out, as Gigi presses inwards and shocks the model with more combos to her body, then the arms, rinse and repeat, all the while taking whatever openings she can find to punt that pretty face back with a straight jab or two that lands on the lips or nostrils. It’s a worst round for Eden, who’s left gobsmacked and panting hard on the ropes by the time the bell rings. She gets a talking to by her fight team in her corner at the bell, Steve Boyd unofficially serving as a fight consultant, as Gigi takes the best round of her career in a long, long while.

ROUND 3:
Eden’s back with a vengeance, for now at least, moving in with more calculated grace as she takes the early punishment from Hadid and then dishes it back out with her choice of combos. Gigi’s fighting a different girl all of a sudden, busy chasing Eden down to deliver her third straight knockout round, but Eden ain’t making things easy, keeps herself moving and jabbing back with her own long reach, and the end result is a much that’s much more even for both fighters. Gigi’s targeting the Israeli girl’s lean body but instead takes stiff shots to her face and across her chin, Eden’s shoulder reach meaning she can land punches around the blonde’s guard and punt a fast one across the cheek with ease. End of the round sees both ladies breathing hard from opposite ends, but the important thing is Eden stems the bleeding with a close victory.

ROUND 4:
Gigi’s still determined to put her young punk opponent away, storms in early to try to do just that! Eden caught by a blitzing combo to the body, which briefly stuns her on the spot with a loud hoouuufff!, but the prospective Vixen scoots away fast enough to avoid another hook aimed high at her chin, Hadid swinging for the fences but missing. Eden plays it cool, retains her strategy of divide and conquer, scores a punch on Gigi’s face and another on her body in between Hadid’s blatant swings in her direction to mount up more points for her corner. Soon enough, the abuse takes its toll, Gigi letting out a loud cry of pain as a stiff straight slams into her nostrils hard, pushing her back several steps. Eden gets the greenlight to STORM in, and suddenly, the tables are turned, with Cohen planting leather all over her arms and body, shoving another right cross right to the kisser, which BLOWS HADID OFF HER FEET! DOWN she goes onto her back, arms above her head, legs barely moving, and it’s KO4 comeback for Eden Cohen!!

Official Decision: Eden Cohen defeats Gigi Hadid via KO4!

AFTER:

Somewhere backstage, Cohen’s detractors are frowning and fuming as the tall, toned Israeli Instagram model scores another win on her resume. She’s gone up against people like Alexis Ren and Jessica Ashley most recently, and lived to tell the tale. Now, she puts away a veteran fighter who’s been in the ring since 2015.

“I knew I had her from the start,” Eden says proudly to reporters later. “She gave me some trouble early on, but all I needed to do was adjust and fight back. I’m glad to have had the opportunity to fight Gigi tonight.”

When asked what’s next on her agenda, Eden merely smiles, taking a knowing glance at Steve Boyd by her side, before saying, “You’ll find out soon enough. This marks my fifth match sponsored by the VIXENs. So if they didn’t sign me soon, I’d be pretty pissed off.”

Meanwhile, Gigi has to be helped back to her own stool by her fight team, the poor girl marking yet another loss in a long series of disappointments stretching all the way back to 2017. By our count, tonight’s loss would mark her 13th consecutive defeat in the ring.

“I don’t know what to tell you,” Gigi says, fighting back tears. “I thought I had her early. Maybe I should go back to modelling full-time. I don’t know. Maybe that upcoming tournament will be different, like last time.”
