BEFORE:

"Katy's obviously a girl who's right at the top of this division," says Joanne with a smile. "And, if you want to show you can compete at this level, well. You have to beat girls like Katy. And, that's JUST what I'm going to do."

"Joanne can compete at this level," Katy admits. "She's shown that in the past. But. She's not coming away with a win tonight. Count on that."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Shut Up and Dance' by Walk The Moon, and here comes another lovely Canadian, Joanne Kelly!"

Cassie: "I can remember this girl beating Missy Peregrym three times in a row and turning one of those into a title shot against Yvonne Strahovski, back when, you know, you had to get a WIN to get a title shot..."

McCarthy: "For ONCE, Scabbo is right. Kelly's no Typical Dancing Hooker Opponent..."

O'Dell: "Joanne into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal a black number and a body at toned to eleven for this one. And, that's 'California Gurls' you hear behind us, and here comes 'The Santa Barbara Slugger', Katy Perry..."

Tess: "And, you could argue that Perry's number three in the lightweight pecking order around here these days, so, this is a pretty big fight for her."

O'Dell: "Katy wasting no time getting down the aisle and into the ring. She's helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve and the crowd loving Ms. Perry in that red number she prefers..."

McCarthy: "I'm telling you, I'm going to go UP there..."

O'Dell (sighing): "Ladies about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Katy. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Kelly can do this. Joanne!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "Split panel again. Let's see who's right. Ladies going to get to range immediately, and that's no surprise. Both have reach and like to extend on their punches. Kelly working the left hand, getting it in Katy's face, dropping right hands off it. Perry angling, but not getting to her spots right now..."

Cassie: "This is what Joanne's good at. She's very slick."

O'Dell: "No doubt about it, and she has a little reach on Katy...and she's using that very effectively right now. Perry managing to get off here and there, but it's Kelly who's in control of things at the moment, scoring well with both hands as Perry tries to get something going..."

McCarthy: "I TOLD you. This girl can FIGHT. She's going to BURY this Dancing Hooker!"

O'Dell: "Final thirty seconds ticking away. Kelly's had the better of it the entire round, and that's not changing as we approach the bell. Joanne landing another nice combination that tosses Katy onto the defensive, and there's the bell. Not close in the first. Joanne gets the points."

Tess: "And takes the 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second underway and Perry showing more movement now. She's working not to be picked off by that jab, and, when she can avoid it, she's getting the geometry she wants and getting off in combination, even tossing Kelly to the defensive here and there..."

Tess: "But, Joanne not staying there long..."

O'Dell: "She is not, because that accurate jab is still playing, and, when the Canadian gets it on target, it makes all the difference. She's able to work combinations off it and keep Katy from getting her own offense going. All about that left hand of Joanne's at the moment..."

Cassie: "And, with Perry doing a better job of avoiding it, we've got a two-way round."

O'Dell: "Sure do. Not much in it at all as we come down the stretch and both veterans turn up the aggression looking to steal the points. NICE combination from Kelly and Katy counters with one of her own, backs Joanne up a step and follows on with another flurry that takes us to the bell. Very close. Perry."

McCarthy: "And we're even at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third begins the way the second ended. Ladies at range boxing. Joanne all about that long, accurate left, getting it in Perry's face, following on with right hands, building combinations. Perry moving, angling, avoiding the left when she can and getting off herself, effectively..."

Cassie: "Excellent two-way stuff again..."

O'Dell: "Definitely is. Both fighters getting work done. Nobody hurt, but both landing solid shot and getting off in combination. Sound defense being played as well. It's good, slick boxing by two women who can definitely fight and fight well on these terms, and there's not a lot in it..."

McCarthy: "Foot movement a key, too. Nobody dancing, but nobody flat footed."

O'Dell: "Final twenty-five seconds of a very competitive round. Sharp exchange and then another. Solid right from Perry in there, but it didn't move Kelly. Joanne jabbing, hooking the body off it. Katy a good right hand and Kelly a quick flurry at the bell. Close. Joanne."

Tess: "And Kelly goes back into the lead, 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Into the fourth and the pattern pretty much set. Both fighters want to work at gunnery range, extend on their punches, and both are having success doing it. Perry a little more active with the feet, angling more as she tries to avoid that accurate left jab of the Canadian..."

Tess: "Kelly very quick when she gets Perry square, getting off in combination..."

O'Dell: "Is, indeed. Scoring well with both hands. Perry just as quick when she can slip that jab and get to a spot. She wastes no time getting her hands going. Lands a solid right hand there. Joanne covers up. Katy goes body and then DROPS KELLY WITH A RIGHT HOOK!"

Cassie: "WHAT A SHOT!"

O'Dell: "That came out of NOWHERE and dropped Kelly to her right side. Perry to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Joanne pushing up to elbow and haunch at seven. Eight. Not gonna happen. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! Kelly can't get off the canvas and it's OVER! And your winner by KO4 is 'The Santa Barbara Slugger' Katy Perry!"

McCarthy: "Lucky punch!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Cassie Scerbo!"

Cassie: "I have our winner, Katy Perry, and, Katy, as Jenny O said, that shot came out of nowhere..."

Katy (smiling): "Girl like her, you really don't want to miss an opportunity. She's very skilled, and if she gets you to the cards, you might not like the result. When you get an opening, you've got to take advantage. I saw it. And I landed it clean."

Cassie: "No doubt about it. It's been a good year for you so far. What's next?"

Katy (smiling): "Wouldn't say 'no' to a shot at the gold, that's for sure!"
