Jennifer Hawkins vs Scarlett Leithold

BEFORE: Some local pundits claim Jennifer Hawkins would be better off mentoring Elyse Knowles into worldwide stardom but the former Miss Universe claims she still has unfinished business in the boxing community and vows to beat up a promising American upstart Scarlett Leithold in front of the rampant Sydney crowd tonight. This seems a little desperate idea but Hawkins got passed over for the upcoming Ashes so she basically has no choice other than to make herself look impressive against a raw but otherwise talented opponent.

Meanwhile Scarlett comes off a good performance against fellow Yankee blonde Baskin Champion back in June and vows to stay along for the Down Under ride once she dismisses the Aussie veteran: "Jennifer is just step one! I know there are several good lookin' girls around here which I can destroy! Tee-hee!! Who's gonna stop me? Jennifer won Miss Universe when iPhone was still on the drawing board! Sigh..."

Jennifer Hawkins wears a golden bikini set & green gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Scarlett Leithold wears a red bikini set with black trim & white gloves. Long blonde hair loose & straight. Both fighters are barefoot. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Jennifer tries to ignore Scarlett's fancy approach and the youngster really turns up the early heat on her road to test the Aussie veteran. She blows past to connect with Jennifer's midsection and piles immediate pressure like only these cocky Yankee blondes can! Hawkins swings over the top and tries to catch the other girl with a proper haymaker but she's a little sluggish in execution and only catches the top of Scarlett's forehead before she drops back as the body assault begins to take an early toll. Scarlett is furious with slamming all these hits into the Aussie's abs but she finds success upstairs too; she delivers a quick uppercut to send Hawkins reeling onto the ropes and the local favorite simply has to accept the late slugging route as Leithold piles more pressure and rocks the Aussie's head back & forth all the way until the bell.

Round 2:
Jennifer won't cause Scarlett any trouble with her speed as the Yankee blonde covers real estate with tremendous burst here but she can always deliver a power strike to make a statement, right? WRONG!!! It's the L.A. native who unloads the aerial attack and begins to stuff punches into the older blonde's face while Jennifer simply looks lethargic in her reactions. She's a step slow with everything and gets wrapped in a head-hunting maze; her lack of proper response only fuels Leithold's desire to make instant impact as she bullies the taller opponent onto the ropes and rips into her guts for a good measure. Ugh! Hawkins weaves on her feet but just can't escape the trap and has to clinch the charging Yankee. Scarlett shakes it off though and powers ahead with more guts shots to leave Jennifer slumped on shaky knees at the bell.

Round 3:
Hawkins finally makes the use of her superior reach even though she doesn't ignite much juice behind her efforts alas Scarlett still soaks it up which slows her response down. The youngster ducks low to punish some breadbasket but gets whacked on the brow ridge and wobbles off her stance which allows Jennifer to loop a quick cross route and find more of that pretty face. Ugh! Scarlett gets stuck in the sand and can't push off when she gets nailed on the nose with Jennifer dropping serious heat against the run of play. She smacks more Leithold jaw in there before she scythes her across the boobs and bumps onto the ropes shortly afterwards. Scarlett fires back from point blank range but eats a right overhand on the nose so Hawkins cleans out shop with more head shots that slice the American's guard.

Round 4:
Jennifer tries to rally back the score and jumps into another head-hunting assault as Scarlett kicks up more sand in a frantic avoidance before she swings back on target. Hawkins shakes off the crossing hit on the nose though and tears a small patch above the fellow blonde's right eye before she enforces the phone booth presence and knocks an uppercut on the chin that wobbles Leithold into an earmuff hole. Huh! That looks awkward as Scarlett suddenly lets the former Miss Universe to take over with more jabbing power and clobber her butt-in-ropes which meets a wild ovation from the Bondi Beach audience. Jennifer keeps it high in order to split more American guard but Leithold gathers her thoughts in time to whack the charging Aussie on the tummy and both women end up clinching themselves into a stalemate.

Round 5:
Sparks fly early in the fifth as Scarlett tries to regain her mojo but eats a cripping hook on the nose and has to soak up a faceful of Aussie leather with Jennifer showing some urgency as she traps the American in the center of the ring and begins to stack up more damage! Her punches carve another nasty lump above the left eye and Leithold just can't beat her rival for that overhand stinger while getting nailed repeatedly from both flanks. Hawkins gets vocal as she remains all upstairs and she bends the fellow blonde to the side with a nasty thumper on the temple before she stuffs her on the boobs as well. Ugh! Leithold scowls in pain and just yields real estate in a hurry which forces Hawkins into immediate pounce but the youngster just stays clear of danger dancing along the ropes and rendering Jennifer's pursuit futile for remainder of the round. However that's a nice recovery for the Aussie woman who takes a slight lead on the cards at half-distance.

Round 6:
Scarlett realizes she's getting out-pointed here by the veteran opponent who also enjoys house support so the only way is forward and she enforces the speedy shift blasting the Aussie to the body. Jennifer can't move fast enough to avoid that body assault and she gets picked off on the fly before Leithold wrenches her on the rack and bumps straight into the chin as well. She slides on her heels but still swings back and nails the American on the nose but that impact makes no impression as the younger blonde tears a brutal hook on the lips which begin to swell almost immediately. Scarlett adds another quick blast on those lips to make sure Hawkins feels it and bumps her onto the turnbuckle where she rips another body assault to keep the Aussie woman in check. Jennifer barks in her efforts to break free but eats another wild hook on the nose and duly caves in behind a tight earmuff in the closing seconds.

Round 7:
It's maybe obvious Scarlett looks a lot fresher at this stage of the fight as Jennifer prefers to fire head shots from the spot but can't connect with the lively opponent who keeps bouncing around and looping meaningful response herself. Back & forth struggle continues until Leithold rifles a hook on the eye and forces Hawkins to jump forward but both women only clash heads instead. Scarlett recovers first and whacks the older blonde on the body before clipping her jugs along the way. Jennifer wants to shake her off but just can't stretch her elbows and gets tripped onto the sand with Scarlett landing on top of her! Ugh! Crowd doesn't like it and the ref gives the Yankee a warning after she swept her opponent's leg away there! Jennifer is upset but she can't dominate the leather stand-off as Leithold works in high-octane fashion to dig jabs on target and glues the local favorite to the spot for remainder of the round.

Round 8:
Hawkins is gassed after another back & forth aerial exchange that wins her little success and Leithold loops quick hooking response from afar before she bulldozes into the older blonde's chest and rips immediate punishment around the elbows. Ugh! There's just no way Hawkins can shake the American youngster off and Scarlett does a much better job actually hurting the Aussie stunner than tripping her to the ground. Jennifer tries to break free but stumbles to the right and gets NAILED with a vicious hook on the lips that makes her gurgle in pain on the spot... Scarlett goes for another one and SCORES!!! She blasts Hawkins on the brow ridge and SENDS HER TUMBLING ONTO HER SIDE!!! Uh-oh! Jennifer was off balance before that punch send her down but it's a bitter enough experience anyway! Scarlett begins to verbally taunt the fallen rival but Hawkins gets back up at seven and vows revenge. If only she could match the American's intensity though! Leithold rips it up the gut and works on speed dial to bury the local favorite on the ropes where it's no mercy pounding at Jennifer's expense. Her ribcage takes a brutal beating and she almost spits her heart out as she tries to block all these punches but she simply can't... Scarlett uses tummy as target practice and power ahead to make the fellow blonde scream but it's not quite over as Hawkins crumbles underneath this barrage... her legs give way and she COLLAPSES in the corner with more painful spasms. Even the slowest home-friendly count can't save her anymore as she hugs her aching midriff and remains sitting on the sand.... nine... ten.... OUT!!! KO8 Scarlett Leithold!!!

AFTER: Muted response all across the Bondi Beach but that only riles Scarlett up as she gets vocal and demands some respect - or perhaps another challenge from some of these Aussie babes! Whatever! The night ends on a sour note for the hosts and there's a reason Jennifer just couldn't make the Ashes cut as she didn't look imposing enough to stop the promising youngster from scoring a famous victory on the road! Punching resistance appears to be an issue but lack of genuine speed is another and not every power-puncher can cover up for those flaws. Elite days might be over for the former Miss Universe but she's a tremendous gatekeeper regardless and should see more action going forward. She just won't be starring in these Main Events often enough! Meanwhile the future looks really bright for Scarlett so it's gonna be very interesting to follow her schedule in the foreseeable future!
