RED HOT SUMMER AT THE ASYLYM IV: THIS TIME IT'S PERSONAL

BEFORE:

"OK, so I didn't beat Chloe Freakin' Bennet the last time I was here," says Evan with a shake of the head. "Well, last I looked, she was one point away from being champion. This girl? She's on, what, her tenth stable? HER, I can handle."

"Glad to see Evan's so confident," says Peyton with a smile. "We'll just have to BEAT some of that out of her."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'If I Fell', but, not, of course, the version made famous by those lads from Liverpool. Instead, this is a cover being sung by the lady coming to the ring, the lovely Evan Rachel Wood!"

McCarthy: "AKA, Typical Dancing Hooker Opponent..."

O'Dell: "Wood wasting little time getting into the ring. She's helped off with the robe, and the crowd popping for Ms. Wood in that black and white striped number we've seen before..."

All I wanna eat is cherry licorice

I don't care if it sounds ridiculous

Even the birds and the bees

Eat how they damn well please

O'Dell: "And, that's 'Cherry Licorice' by the Felice Brothers, and that can only mean that the newest member of Front Street, 'The Cobra' Peyton List is on her way to the ring..."

Tess: "Peyton in a VERY deep bantamweight division at Front Street. Management liking what it's seen so far from what I hear..."

Cassie: "You hear CORRECTLY..."

Tess: "But, she's going to want to keep getting results..."

O'Dell: "List into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve, and she's got the crowd going with that baby blue number I've seen before..."

McCarthy: "If I went up there, these people would have myaangelou debarkshuns..."

Tess: "What..."

Cassie: "I know it's the first fight, BFF, but, still..."

Tess: "Good point..."

McCarthy: "What ARE you two TALKING about?"

O'Dell (sighing): "Ladies about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Peyton. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Typical Dancing Hooker Opponent. List."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "Unanimous in the first and Evan immediately out to make liars out of our panel. Redhead working forward behind that jab, backing up the younger blonde. Ton of aggression from Wood here, and that's not a surprise, because it's definitely what we've seen from Evan in the past..."

McCarthy: "Also what Ava Max did to good effect when this Dancing Hooker made her debut for Skid Row..."

O'Dell: "Wood going body just a little, but she's concentrating upstairs and sitting down on everything. Older woman really bringing the physical. List giving ground, jabbing, trying to slow this down, but not having a lot of success. GOOD right hand by Evan right there..."

Cassie: "Smart stuff from Peyton, I think. She doesn't want to get into a slugfest in the first."

O'Dell: "And, she's managing to avoid that, but, at a cost. And, the cost is that Wood has controlled this round and piled up gobs of points. Only ten seconds to go and there's a SHARP exchange in which both fighters landed a good right hand and there's the bell. Not close. Wood."

Tess: "And, she takes the 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Wood putting the wood to List as we start the second. Evan even more aggressive this time, working forward behind the left, backing up the younger blonde, committing on punches. She's working some body here and there, but mostly concentrating upstairs..."

Tess: "List has to get off the back foot."

O'Dell: "She's spending too much time giving ground and covering, no question about that. Blonde trying to manage with the jab, but Wood getting past it too often and too easily. GOOD right from Evan there forces Peyton to cover up, and Wood steps to and works body..."

McCarthy: "Weirdo's looking at List's contract right now, figuring how much he'll owe her when he fires her..."

O'Dell: "ANOTHER solid combination by Wood backs up List again. Peyton just unable to get anything rolling against this effective aggression from the redhead. Blonde managing to stay off the ropes, but that's about the only good news at the moment. There's the bell, and the second is in the books. Wood. Wide."

Cassie: "And she's built a 20-18 lead."

ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Third begins with List snapping out that jab more frequently, doubling up on it, and also showing more lateral movement after hearing about both from Neve Campbell in the corner between rounds. Peyton on her toes, moving the head and hands as well as the feet."

Cassie: "The good thing about Neve championing bringing you in here is you end up here..."

Tess: "And, the bad thing is, you end up sitting in a corner with NEVE..."

Cassie: "Exactly."

O'Dell: "List has taken the advice to heart. She's much less passive than she was in the first two and it's making a difference. She's slowing Wood down, building up points with the redhead still on the outside. Evan struggling to close, and, when she does, Peyton quickly slipping away back to range."

McCarthy: "Wood just needs to keep after her."

O'Dell: "Down to fifteen seconds in the third. Good combination there from list, stops Wood in her tracks and Peyton follows with another combination, backing the redhead up this time and there's the bell. No doubt about it for the third round in a row. But, this time it's List wide, halving the redhead's lead to 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Wood even MORE aggressive as we start the fourth. Redhead walking right through that jab now, damning any and all torpedoes as she again starts backing up List with heavy fire. Peyton giving ground, attempting a fighting retreat, but it's a retreat just the same..."

McCarthy: "Like I said, just keep after her."

O'Dell: "List trying to maintain space, moving the head and the feet, but Wood's pouring forward, regardless of any fire, getting in close now, crowding, banging, wrestling around in there, making the blonde as uncomfortable as possible. Ref going to break them apart now..."

Cassie: "And Wood right back after her..."

O'Dell: "List retreating, can't get the feet set. Wood tossing a TON of heavy leather at the younger woman, backing her up just like she did in the first two, and having much the better of things as a result. Five seconds to go. Good right from Wood and there's the bell. Evan. Wide."

Tess: "And Wood is back up two, 39-37."

ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Into the fifth now, and List's figured out she's going to have to punch with respect and she's doing it and the result is some hammer and tongs stuff in the middle of the ring! Ladies tossing BOMBS in there and neither is giving an inch. GOOD right from Peyton and a BETTER one from Evan!"

Tess: "Crowd getting into this in a BIG way..."

O'Dell: "This is the kind of action boxing fans love and there's plenty of it, as leather flies back and forth. Nobody getting sloppy, though. Both fighters working both hands, moving the head and hands, but, there's no foot movement. They're just standing toe-to-toe and letting 'em go..."

Cassie: "All about imposing will right now..."

O'Dell: "Sure is, and nobody's willing to be imposed ON. We're down to twenty seconds in this round and they are STILL hot tossing. GOOD right from Wood sends sweat flying and List fires right back, snapping back the redhead's head and there's the bell. For the first time, close. Wood."

McCarthy: "And, Evan's built a three-point lead over the Dancing Hooker, 49-46."

ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: "Ladies again meeting in the center and letting the hands go. Wood determined to back up List and Peyton determined to hold her ground here. Something's got to give, but nothing's giving at the moment, save for the two fighters, who are giving one another a BEATING..."

Cassie: "Some SERIOUS leather being exchanged..."

O'Dell: "GOOD right from Wood and LIST ROCKS HER WITH A RIGHT-HAND REJOINDER! Wood wobbles and now List is all in, letting the hands go in a big way. Evan in full retreat, backed to the ropes in a high guard while the blonde bangs away with both hands..."

McCarthy: "She's OK. Just ride this out..."

O'Dell: "That's what the redhead is looking to do, but the younger woman calling in a TON of artillery strikes. Ref looking in closely as the clock ticks down. GOOD right from List gets his attention, but there's the bell. Evan hangs on, but the blonde wins the round big..."

Tess: "And still trails 58-56."

ROUND SEVEN:
O'Dell: "Seventh begins with List walking Wood down. Evan's legs not all the way back and Peyton taking full advantage. She's sitting down on those right hands in a big way, punishing the redhead, who's able to block and slip some of the fire, but not nearly enough of it..."

Tess: "List has the range down."

O'Dell: "Definitely does, and she's landing a BUNCH of hard shot right now. SOLID right hand from the blonde and that wobbled the redhead! Ref watching this closely and THERE'S A RIGHT HOOK AND DOWN GOES WOOD! Evan dropped to her left side by a BOOMING right hook..."

Cassie: "Not likely to get up from that one..."

O'Dell: "List to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Wood rolling to her belly at six. Pushing to hands and knees at seven. Eight. Gonna run out of time. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! The redhead is still on all fours as the count passes her by and it's OVER and your winner by KO7 is 'The Cobra' Peyton List!"

McCarthy: "Lucky punch!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Peyton List, and, Peyton, little bit of a rough start for you..."

Peyton (nodding): "Yeah. She really came at me hard. I tried to manage it, but, eventually, I had to get physical right back. When I did that? Everything changed."

Tess: "Good start for you at Front Street, 2-0. What's next?"

Peyton (smiling): "Know what's great about having Wiz and Cassie behind you? You don't have to worry about that. I let THEM do the thinking, and I do the FIGHTING."
