BBU Bantamweight Title
Ch Charlotte Church vs Sophia Thomalla
(Lioness Club vs Black Eagle Boxing)
(21-11, 21 KO vs 8-0, 8 KO)
Results: BBU; Story: Vassago

BEFORE: Allthough reigning champions are usually the betting favorites in title bouts, this is perhaps the best timing for a challenger to come in and wrestle the belts away from Charlotte Church who lost her last two fights over on FCBA duty. Former junior kickboxing talent-turned-actress Sophia Thomalla has stormed into BBU contention since making her debut eighteen months ago and managed to by-pass the out-of-form Dorota Rabczewska who was originally lined up to serve as the last road block for the German hopeful on tonight's card. However the pressure to hand Sophia a title fight became too big and got to the point the Black Eagle stable openly accussed the Welsh singer of avoiding their best bantamweight on purpose.

"I'd never avoid anyone like that and Gina Wild frickin' knows that!", Charlotte sounds more than annoyed when talking to BBU TV's Kate Abdo before the fight, "I have a very busy schedule to handle, JMD title, my FCBA career and so on. It's not my problem this German slag is so impatient. If Doda didn't lose to Vicky Pattison we wouldn't even be talking about it since she'd be the one fighting Thomalla here right now!"

Meanwhile the German entourage prefers to remain silent on Sophia's title chances but Gina Wild claims to know how to expose Charlotte whom she coached during her lenghty Lioness Club tenure in the previous decade after all. Sophia gives the champion a genuine bytch stare during the introductions and we're ready to go in the Boxing Day PPV's Main Event!

Charlotte Church wears a black crop top with purple trim, matching hotpants & purple gloves. Long auburn red hair wrapped in a braid. Sophia Thomalla wears a blue bikini set & with a silver trim & black gloves. Long brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
High-tempo action here in the opener as Sophia drops a steady left/right series into the singer's face before tackling Charlotte's breasts for a good measure. The Welsh redhead has to apply the slugging drill just to match the German's intensity but still ends up backed onto the ropes since Sophia really comes out red hot and makes the champion pay in style. Huh! Loud screams from coach Gina Wild as her protegee keeps cashing in with a heavy overhand series and wraps the singer behind a tight earmuff come the final stretch. Bell sounds just as the challenger lands another gut shot and the Lioness crew believes it came in late. Nope, it was right on time!

Round 2:
Charlotte sticks a couple of body shots to keep the brunette honest but eats a stinger cross over the top that triggers another slugging exchange in the center of the ring. Thomalla beats the champion to the punch and rocks her head with a terrific double on each temple before blasting another shot on the chest. Church comes from extensive JMD background so it only fuels her wrath and she drives a low punch into the German's groin. Ref turns a blind eye and the partisan Cardiff crowd carries the redhead into a dominant display of jabbing fury in the final minute. Sophia has to use some lithe footwork to escape the heat and barks in anger at the bell since the cards are definitely even after two.

Round 3:
Another wild hooking blast allows Sophia to claim the initial exchange but Charlotte gradually works herself back into contention thumping the challenger's ribcage for majority of the round. Sophia responds by a single-hand assault over the top but she fails to land a big punch as Church begins to move around much faster too. Both women settle in the back & forth drill until Church drops a jug muggin' series of her own and profits from a clash of heads to trap the German on the ropes. She duly cleans out her midsection and leaves the challenger fuming even loud at the bell this time.

Round 4:
Charlotte thinks she can knock Sophia's head off but she found more success working her opponent to the body so the change of targets doesn't end well and allows Thomalla to slam an overhand combo that wobbles the Welsh singer to her heels. Charlotte still wants to lock the actress in the proverbial phone booth but eats more body shots in response as Thomalla reacts to the situation and stays with the south route to derail the champion's plan. Both women trade more head shots in the final minute and the round is very even, Gina Wild thinks it should be one for Sophia but she's the challenger on the road so BBU TV's Kate Abdo believes it will go the other way.

Round 5:
Sophia cracks a left hook on the brow ridge and beats the singer for another punch before drilling the solar plexus with a booming shot just before the one-minute mark. Charotte wobbles to her heels and has to bail out in avoidance as the German runs up the charts and swarms the reeling champ into the corner down the stretch anyway. Both women trade more head-hunting blows until Church's left brow ridge begins to swell in significant fashion... Sophia enjoys the superior reach and she can really stretch her elbows to the point she rocks the singer's head back & forth until the Cardiff favorite has to clinch her in order to limit the damage. Sophia shakes her off and lands a vicious left cross on the jaw and that one really rung the Welsh bell here!

Round 6:
Charlotte tries to beat Sophia with the slugging attack but eats another bad shot on the swollen brow ridge and fails to react when the actress laces her in the solar plexus moments later. Church can hang in tough against anyone but the former kickboxer blows her up with a left/right combo on each temple before an uppercut blast on the chin sends the guard sideways. Charlotte trips back to the ropes with a loud whimper and gets stuck on her heels long enough for Thomalla to deliver a booming haymaker on the nose. Oi, Charlie!!! DOWN GOES THE CHAMP!!! Disaster for the partisan crowd as Charlotte drops to her knees deep into the final minute and is effectively saved by the bell - not to mention a very slow count. She gets up just as the clock expires but cuts a shocked figure with the swelling around the brow ridge affecting her vision. Ugh! Coach Mel B. cannot believe it and hits the panic button...

Round 7:
...however the German challenger storms to another brutal hooking drive that leaves Church reeling in spooked fashion to start the seventh round. Sophia streaks around the defensive scamper and lands more shots on target as she dissects the high-guard and ducks underneath a couple of desperate heaves. Church gets too careless while being forced to come from behind and Thomalla NAILS her with another vicious hook on the wounded brow ridge. Uh-oh!!! THE CHAMP IS HURT!!! Charlotte wobbles to the ropes with a loud whimper and can't raise her mitts fast enough as the brunette LIFTS HER OFF THE CANVAS with a brutal chin-checker straight from hell! DOWN GOES CHURCH!!! Down and frickin' OUT!!! Lights out finish for KO7 and the NEW BBU bantamweight champion Sophia Thomalla!!!

AFTER: History in the making as Black Eagle Boxing claims its first championship belt - taking it away from owner/trainer Gina Wild's former employer no less! This must feel really good but Gina shows enough respect she doesn't stick it to Mel B. & her crew but prefers to celebrate the moment with her countrywoman. Sophia didn't have to get by Dorota Rabczewska after all and she proved she didn't have to. She takes her flawless record to 9-0 and might be unfortunate not to claim Fighter Of The Year award since she more than deserved to throw her hat in the mix.

The Welsh crowd tries not to sound too upset - yeah, right - when the former champion is helped off the ring and this has been a really bad day at the office for Charlotte indeed. Will she regret those FCBA fights in the lead-up? Word is Elettra Lamborghini might come after her JMD title as well and she knows how to beat the Welsh singer already.

Sophia gets the BBU belt wrapped around her hips and suggests she might consider Maisie Smith as her first title challenger: "It's either her or Vicky Pattison but I feel like I'm gonna take both of them out anyway! Jessica Schwarz led the way all those years ago and it's an honor to become the second ever BBU champion! Hey, Gina! It's time for that championship clause to come into effect! That bonus pay out is all mine! See you next year, folks!"

Official Result: Sophia Thomalla def. Ch Charlotte Church KO7.
