8. Cara Delevingne vs Stella Maxwell

BEFORE:
Final match of the night and surprisingly, it’s a fight we’ve never seen before: Cara Delevingne and Stella Maxwell both Lightweight prospects and models around the same age and calibre from across the Atlantic, though they’ve never faced off in the ring until tonight.

Cara smug, dismissive of her recent loss against Georgia Mae Gibbs that happened barely a week ago:

“A sham, it was. No wonder the Aussie blonde got released. She fought dirty throughout, as though she had a chip on her shoulder or something. Pity she isn’t part of this tournament - I’d love to kick her arse again. But Stella will do, for now,” Cara says with a smirk.

Stella nodding along till that last portion, the short-haired blonde puckering those lips before responding:

“Cara’s someone I look up to, you know. As a peer and fellow competitor. But I won’t be going easy on her tonight. We’ve been compared countless times before, as sisters, models, and even potential mates - but that ain’t happening once I knock her out tonight. I’m gonna prove I’m the better fighter and win this tournament all on my own.”

Both blondes are certainly loving the attention, with both short-haired girls posing too close for comfort, lips almost touching as they position balled fists to each other’s chins and tummies. It’s an interesting match-up, for sure, with both Cara and Stella around the same height and built, both made for speed more than power. What’s going to happen once the bell rings is anybody’s game.

Soon, we’re back in the ring: Cara bouncing up and down at one end, black sports bra and red briefs, a pair of white gloves on either hand. Stella has gone for the full VS treatment: baby pink bra and panties and looking immensely confident in her own body image, strutting about her corner and waving to the fans in a pair of red gloves. There’s the referee’s signal to start and HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Lightweight action!

ROUND 1:
Both girls with some wide energy to start, and yes, eating humble pie over and over again these past few months will do that to your spirit. They each have a chance to break the curse of the losing streak tonight, and finally move forward in their respective careers. High octane jabs flying at each other’s heads, sometimes hitting the nose directly but most of the time scarring the arms. Stella the blonde with more drive, however, the American planting a one-two combo on Cara’s lips to shove her head back in the first minute, expertly slipping out of the way of a return combo that allows her to wail away some more on the Brit’s tummy and arms. Delevingne’s luck just not that impressive recently, as her head is thrown left, right and center, and she needs to cover and duck to prevent losing her balance in the opening round itself. Bell rings and Maxwell stakes her claim in the sand!

ROUND 2:
But here comes Delevingne right back, bobbing and weaving in the opening seconds before SLAPPING that right hand right down the middle of Maxwell’s guard and into her lips, shocking the American blonde to no end. Maxwell lets out a gurgle and shriek as more jab combos chase her down, the two lanky models using their Victoria Secret leggings to constantly move and attack, swerve and defend. Maxwell tries to stand her ground multiple times in the center as the two women throw down with fists flying rapidly into their arms and body, but Cara’s grit and determination allow her to land a final punt to the chin, which further forces Stella on the backpedal. For now, both ladies take a round apiece, as this fight continues!

ROUND 3:
Slow first minute as both girls circle each other and occasionally toss the jab straight at the head. Slowly, Cara switches to all targets available, tagging the American on her chest and body as well with heavy double-blows that force some grunts from her lips. Maxwell ain’t taking the abuse lying down, however, growls deep as she takes another side-hook to the body, steps in and POWERS her hook clean across Cara’s face with anguish and scorn!! OUCH!! Delevingne gets SHOCKED by the sudden attack, her face and head swiveled to the side, the rest of her body following! AND HERE COMES STELLA, comin’ in hot and drilling shots all over Delevigne’s arms, trying to break the Brit apart and send her down here and now!!! Cara groans, eating punishment to her stomach, her arms taking the brunt of hooks and swishes till an unexpected overhand right CATCHES her clean off the top of her head… AND DOWN CARA GOES, having lost her balance in the shuffle and stumbled over her own feet!! It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Stella Maxwell in the early quarter of this fight! Maxwell looks elated, bouncing on her toes for a moment before returning to her corner with a wide smile. It’s her first KO attempt in quite a while, and what better way to celebrate it than over a fellow blonde model who’s also had her spate of bad luck? Thankfully, Cara’s still alive and shaking the cobwebs from her head, returning back up to two feet by the count of 8! We’re all set to continue this brawl!

ROUND 4:
And here comes Maxwell again, hoping to capitalise! She lands the first flurry to Cara’s arms, thinking her face and chin are gonna be easy pickings from here on out! Alas, Delevingne has locked her guard over her face, kept herself moving at a briskier pace this time, which manages to avoid and duck most of Stella’s early attacks. Maxwell just chasing and chasing, huffing hot air as her combos slam into the arms or hit the air above Cara’s head. Slowly, but surely, the Brit is the one landing her own punches back, snapping a jab into Stella’s face before almost lifting her head skywards with a snap to the base of her chin. Maxwell has learnt her lesson, choosing to stay away for the remainder of the round as the action winds down.

ROUND 5:
Maxwell still looks dazed as the bell rings for the fifth! She’s breathing hard behind her guard and barely firing any punches back, even as Cara resumes the action with a hard cross hand to the middle of her arms. Maxwell finds herself getting beaten backwards, grunting as each right hand lands hard, Delevingne trying to shove her way inwards through sheer grit and power. Maxwell makes a mistake of trying to fight back in the midst of the action, landing a crisp one-two to Cara’s mouth but at the expense of leaving herself wide open - Cara NAILS her back on the nose before a side-winder takes her across the chin, and DOWN STELLA GOES, the American blonde getting flung off her feet and down to her side! KNOCKDOWN for Cara Delevingne!! Maxwell sputters as she breathes heavily on all fours, but manages to get back by the count of 8! All this while, Delevingne is catching her breath in the neutral corner, a sly smirk on her face as she returns the favour tit-for-tat. Bell rings to resume and unfortunately, Maxwell doesn’t look any better than when she started this round, reeling and bracing as Cara resumes her assault without a second of stalling: an overhand rips into the arms, throwing Maxwell back into the ropes, before a smothering of hooks begin to CRASH and SLAM into her body and side of the head, throwing her about without any semblance of resistance! Referee has no choice but to step in and COVER the blonde up! It’s OVER!!

Official Decision: Cara Delevingne defeats Stella Maxwell via TKO5!

AFTER:
Delevingne has always been touted as the best Lightweight Free Agent on the market, and she proves her salt tonight with a TKO victory under five rounds.

“I’m done not being taken seriously,” Cara huffs to reporters later on, more out of elation than frustration. “Stella found out the hard way how badly I want to win this tournament, and Candice will be next.”

Meanwhile, Stella is left hunched over back in her corner, still breathing hard and waving off the reporters who try to swarm her for a comment. For now, her losing streak continues, but that mean pucker of the lips as she watches Cara celebrate across the ring might mean a second showdown is somewhere on the horizon.
