Kate Upton vs. Adriana Lima (Results: Lookout! Words: Wiz)

BEFORE:

Quite the match up here, with Queen Kate, perhaps the biggest star in the FCBA, squaring off against fellow-model Lima, who holds the distinction of being the only woman to hold THREE FCBA titles at the same time, the Unified Lightweight Championship, the Queen of the Ice Hotel, and the Mistress of the Body Saddle. Kate has had her normal dominant year, winning three titles along the way, Queen of the Ice Hotel, the Unified Welterweight Championship, and the BBU JMDD Championship. Lima, on the other hand, after an excellent 2020 that saw her earn a lightweight title shot, hasn't won a fight in a fairly inactive 2021 and is sitting on a three-fight losing streak. But, none of that is affecting the brunette's confidence. "Kate is one of the best in the FCBA, regardless of weight," Adriana says. "But. I'm better. And, tonight, I'll prove it."

"She's no walk in the park," says a smiling Upton. "But, since when has a challenge ever bothered ME?"


ROUND ONE:

There will be no park walking for Ms. Upton. Right off the bat, Adriana establishes that long left jab and everything else takes a back set. This is Larry Holmes stuff. Jab. In. The. Face. Constantly. Snap, snap, snap. Over and over again, stopping and frustrating Kate. Then, as the round goes on, the brunette builds. Hard right hands coming off those jabs, snapping the blonde's head back, even backing her up a couple of times. Add it all up and it's not a good round at all for Kate the Great. Adriana's in complete control and said control becomes greater and greater as the round goes on. Upton goes from not being able to do much to not being able to do ANYTHING. And, when the bell finally rings, there's absolutely no doubt about anything. It's Lima and it's wide and Adriana leads 10-9.

ROUND TWO:

Adjustment from Kate. She's not trying to close now. She's going to box with. At gunnery range. Yeah. Not a bad idea for a girl with the length and power Upton possesses, and she makes that idea work...to a point. Because, while Adriana's not in total control the way she was in the first, she's still getting her left jab on and following with solid rights, building nice combinations, just like Upton. Result is a round 180 degrees away from the first, good, two-way stuff, with both fighters having their moments and both landing solid shot. Things are close throughout and the result remains in doubt into the final half minute, when Upton lands a couple of nice flurries that force Adriana onto her back foot. That's enough to tip the scales and hand the points to Kate, narrowly, and even the cards at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Adjustment from Lima. Adriana's doubling and tripling that jab now. Kate's staying at range, but it doesn't matter. She's getting preempted by all those left hands. Here's how it goes. Adriana throws a couple of lefts. Kate slips or blocks. And, before Upton can reset and take HER turn, Adriana tosses a flurry of leather. Which forces Kate to cover up. Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat. And, the one getting LATHERED is Kate the Great. Upton's not exactly on the back foot, mind. She's not getting backed up much, either. But, what she IS getting is outboxed by the brunette, who's determined to fight lead and is enforcing those terms. Late in the round, Lima lands a BIG right that shakes Upton, and the brunette follows with some solid combinations to the bell. When it rings, Kate's looking a little unsteady and Lima has the points wide and the lead 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:


Lima rollin'. This is vintage Adriana, the stuff we've seen when the brunette beauty is at her absolutely best, like, you know, in the days when she was holding THREE titles at the same time. The jab is going out and back like a piston. Sometimes followed by rights, sometimes not. But it's in Kate's face not some time, but ALL the time, and it's clearly getting Upton out of sorts. Blonde just can't get much done. She can't close. She can't get to spots, and, when she stays at range, she can't get off. Instead, Adriana controls the proceedings almost completely. She's doing WHAT she wants WHEN she wants to do it and making sure Kate can't do much at all. When the bell finally rings, there is, once again, no doubt about it. The brunette's grabbed the points wide to lead 39-37.

ROUND FIVE:

Upton determined to make something happen. And, she does. Only, it's nothing good. The blonde is pushing forward, walking through Lima's jab when she gets DROPPED BY A RIGHT HAND! Kate goes down face first on the canvas as the crowd goes nuts. Adriana to a neutral corner as the ref counts down on Upton. Kate pushes to hands and knees at six and barely beats it. Ref gives her the mandatory and waves on the brunette! Lima letting everything fly as she drives the blonde beauty back into the ropes and gives her a thorough going over. Upton hanging on in a high guard, putting that magnificent body on sale, but Lima not buying. She wants Upton OUT of here...but, it doesn't happen. Kate holds on to the bell. But, when it rings, Lima has the round 10-8 and the lead 49-45.

ROUND SIX:

Lima backing up Kate early, but, soon enough, the blonde stabilizes her front and begins firing back. Brunette hangs in there for a bit, then thinks better of continuing to exchange with one of the biggest of the FCBA's big hitters. Instead, Lima's back to boxing and back to that left hand. And, Kate's back to taking chances. She's working forward, keeping the guard up, looking to bring that power to bear. Lima giving ground at times to get the space she needs, while Kate cautiously forces the action, looking to avoid a repeat of what happened in the fifth. The blonde manages to do so, and even manages to get something going late, doing enough in the final minute to grab a close round and even landing the best punch of the fight, a short right hook, seconds before the bell. It's Kate, close. And Lima's lead is 58-55.

ROUND SEVEN:

Adriana looking buzzed. That last right hook may have done more damage than it appeared to do, and Kate's taking full advantage of her rival's moment of weakness, pouring forward behind her left, backing up the brunette, and making with tons of those big right hands. Adriana's jabbing back here and there, but Kate's got her in reverse and is keeping her there, all while landing a TON of big shots, some of which definitely shake the brunette. Lima's working hard to stay off the ropes and harder to manage all this aggression. She is able to accomplish the former, but, the latter? Not so much. Kate's getting more dominant as the round goes on, and, when the bell finally rings, the blonde has pitched herself a shutout. But, she still finds herself down a pair with just three to go, as Lima leads 67-65.

ROUND EIGHT:

Replay of the seventh. Upton forward aggressively behind the left jab. Lima giving ground, taking a ton of heavy fire from the blonde. Adriana can't get off the back foot and Upton's taking complete control of things as a result. Blonde beauty committing on almost everything now, as she presses down ever harder on the accelerator. BOOM! Straight right hand, KATE and DOWN GOES LIMA! Upton lands a blistering right directly on the button and Adriana ragdolls to the canvas. Blonde quickly to a neutral corner, but it's not looking like speed with be of the essence. Ref's count reaches five before Lima moves, but, then, the brunette begins trying to struggle to her feet. Despite her best efforts, though, Adriana can't get off the canvas before the count passes her by and it's OVER! And your winner by KO8 is Kate 'The Great' Upton!

AFTER:

Kate looking like she's been in quite the fight, but managing a lovely smile. "Like I said, she's no walk in the park. This was always going to be a tough fight. But. I was always going to come out on top. Because, I'm the best there is in the FCBA, regardless of weight. As Adriana found out."
