BEFORE:

"It's very disappointing," says Leah with a shake of the head. "I got a handful of fights, didn't get as many wins as I wanted, and, that's IT. The phone stops ringing. Well. I'm getting another chance tonight, and I'm not going to waste it."

"I feel Leah," says Peyton with a smile. "I've lost management...more than once. But. Not this time. This time, it's all coming together. As Leah's about to find out."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'The Pied Piper' by Crispian St. Peters..."

Cassie: "A song from Mac's high school days..."

McCarthy: "THAT SONG IS FROM 1966! I WASN'T EVEN BORN IN 1966!"

O'Dell (sighing): "Four more fights after this. I'm going to need ALL the pumpkin-flavored liquor...on the PLANET. But, back to boxing, coming down to the ring is the star of 'Sorority Row', the lovely Leah Pipes!"

Cassie: "Pipes a girl who has some talent, as she showed with PLP, but, things didn't work out there, and she hasn't been in an FCBA ring since..."

O'Dell: "Leah into the ring and helped off with the robe. And, that body she's showing off in that salmon number has clearly been trained hard for this one..."

All I wanna eat is cherry licorice

I don't care if it sounds ridiculous

Even the birds and the bees

Eat how they damn well please...

O'Dell: "And, that song you're hearing is 'Cherry Licorice' by the Felice Brothers, and that means 'The Cobra', Peyton List is coming to the ring..."

Tess: "List off to a good start at Front Street, but, again, changes underway, so..."

O'Dell: "Peyton wasting no time getting into the ring. She's helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve and she's looking plenty good in that baby blue number she likes. Ladies about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Peyton. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Pipes has ONE win five years ago. List."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "Unanimous in the second. Let's see if the ladies are right. Both blondes like to box, and, no surprise, that's what we're seeing early. List and Pipes working the jabs, moving the feet, playing the angles and LEAH ROCKS PEYTON WITH A RIGHT HAND! Pretty straight right!"

McCarthy: "And, we may be about to see Dancing Hooker overboard!"

O'Dell: "Pipes now stepping to List, backing her up. Peyton on the defensive, keeping the gloves high, countering here and there, but it's the older blonde who's in control. She's tossing flurry after flurry at List, looking to get her out of there, but Peyton's defending very well and staying off the ropes to boot."

Cassie: "Seems to have shaken the damage from that right hand."

O'Dell: "Does, indeed, but Pipes is keeping her on the back foot with aggression and volume. We're down to about fifteen seconds to go in the first. SHARP exchange there with both fighters landing a good right hand and there's the bell. No doubt about it in the first. Pipes. Wide."

Tess: "And, Leah takes the 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second underway and in a quick 180, List begins coming forward behind the left jab and it's the younger blonde backing up the older! Peyton putting together some sharp combinations early, and she's got Pipes on the back foot. Peyton's got the range down in a BIG way here..."

Tess: "I think she surprised Leah..."

O'Dell: "No doubt about it, and, just like Pipes in the last round, List is keeping her opponent on the back foot with both aggression and volume. Pipes isn't hurt, but she can't get out of reverse. Instead, Peyton's tossing flurry after flurry at her, and it's hard, accurate stuff..."

Cassie: "Sound stuff, too. Not getting overly aggressive."

O'Dell: "She is not. Heading into the final seconds now, and Leah able to stabilize her front. Peyton takes the foot off the gas and we get to where it looked like we were going in the first round. Ladies getting their box on at range right to the bell. For the second round in a row, no doubt about it. List and wide."

McCarthy: "And, we're even at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Things settling in to boxing now. Blondes working the left jab, building combinations. Both moving feet, head, hands. Leah likes a slow circle, where as List likes a bit more lateral movement, probing with the jab, playing the angles, looking for spots to get off."

McCarthy: "This List kid has some ability. Too bad Weirdo and his so-called trainers will ruin her..."

O'Dell: "Nice exchange there, with both fighters landing some hard shot. Good, two-way stuff so far in this stanza. Nobody able to establish control this time, though both fighters are working hard and getting work done. Good right hand from Pipes. Doesn't look like she hasn't been in an FCBA ring in half a decade..."

Cassie: "No, she doesn't. And, it makes you wonder why she hasn't..."

O'Dell: "Down the stretch in the most competitive round of the bout so far. List double-tapping the jab. Pipes working that slow turn, finding with the left and dropping in a hard right hand. Five seconds to go. One more exchange and there's the bell. Very, very close. Pipes."

Tess: "And, Leah pulls back ahead 29=28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Back to boxing. Two blondes at range, moving. Pipes with that slow turn. And, she's showing plenty of slickness with it. Getting that left hand on, following with rights. List giving a little ground here and there, then using a jab step to get forward just a bit and get off..."

Tess: "Definitely good tactical stuff on both sides."

O'Dell: "And, for the second round in a row not a lot in it. The ladies have settled into their fight plans and everybody's apparently happy with the terms. GOOD right hand from Leah and A BETTER ONE FROM PEYTON! List with a booming counter and SHE DROPS PIPES WITH A FOUR-PUNCH FLURRY!"

Cassie: "NASTY right hook in there did the damage."

O'Dell: "Leah nosed in at Peyton's feet. List to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Pipes pushing up to hands and knees at seven. Eight. Not gonna happen. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! Pipes still on all fours when the count passes her by and it's OVER! And your winner by KO4 is 'The Cobra' Peyton List!"

McCarthy: "And, she might just have saved her job."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Peyton List, and, Peyton, big win for you?"

Peyton (nodding): "They're ALL big in the FCBA, Tess. Obviously, I've had an up and down career to this point, been through two stables and all that. I need to prove some things here, and winning fights is how you do that."

Tess: "Are you concerned at all about the reorg? About your spot in it?"

Peyton (shaking her head): "I'm not. I think I've shown, and continue to show, that management made the right choice when it signed me. I fully expect to be here in 2022 and to be a big part of Front Street 3.0."
