Pre-Fight:

“Well I think it says something about her that she’s only 10 fights in and just got signed to a stable,” says Madison. “I mean, I have 10 WINS. She has 10 FIGHTS. Clearly there’s a reason stables were wary of her. I think it’s because she’s so tiny! I mean, I might breathe on her too harshly and she could tip over. So a fight I don’t think is going to be much of an issue for me.”

“Madison is… how do I put this? Okay?” says Abigail. “I think you’ll see that record is pretty inflated during her first year boxing. A lot of those fights weren’t against the strongest of competition. I know the odds are against me here. And certain, ahem, ‘experts’ have picked against me. But that’s what the fight is there for, right? If we listened to the opinions of pundits then we wouldn’t have to throw any punches at all!”

R1:

Abigail comes out of the ring with an all-white getup. White shorts, white sports bra, and of course her pale white skin. Blonde hair tugged back in a ponytail. Madison opting for the complete opposite, all black everything down to even her shoes with only a bit of red in the lining and laces.

Both girls start out with testing each other. Beer with the reach and she tries to take advantage of that early, some jabs deflecting off of Breslin’s gloves. Madison looking very toned and athletic for this bout. Moving well, better than Abigail. Still, the blonde is holding her defense firm and not letting anything slip by her guard.

Beer the aggressor, but can’t cut through the defense. Abigail luls Madison in and throws a few nice jabs to counter. The reach advantage doesn’t mean much if she’s going to let herself get suckered in. Madison throwing more punches, but not landing much clean. Meanwhile Abigail is making Beer come to her and simply countering everything thrown her way.

The bell rings and ends the round with a close win for Abigail.

10-9 Breslin

R2:

Madison no longer interested in trying to feel Abigail out. She comes in with fists blazing. Working her jab and making Bresling work double time to try to defend it. This opens up the body, which Beer takes advantage of.

A few rights to the stomach and Abigail is on her heels. She refuses to give madison the satisfaction of dropping her guard. Instead she finds a corner where the brunette begins to tee off on her body. She alternates lefts and rights as she simply pounds away at the smaller girl’s midsection. Abigail’s face contorts in pain as her abs and ribs take all sorts of damage.

She’s able to throw her arms around Madison though and get in a clinch. Abigail’s mouth hanging open on her opponent’s shoulder as she winces with every step she takes forward. Out of the corner, the ref comes in and splits them apart. Madison tries to continue her assault, but Abigail slips to the side and counters with a nice left-right combo to the face.

This puts Beer on her heels and Abigail comes in quick. Working a few nice jabs, forcing Madison’s guard up. Which allows Abigail to nail two beautiful rights to the stomach as the bell rings.

Madison takes the round and ties it up 19-19.

R3:

Abigail presses a bit to start the round. A little too sloppy with her form though and Madison takes advantage of the reach. Backing Abigail up with some nicely timed jabs.

Breslin tries to tighten up her defense, but Beer has an opening. She’s slicing through a quickly fading Abigail. A right to the jaw, then sinking down low with a sweeping left to the ribs. She’s got the blonde in a bad spot. Abigail lands a few paltry jabs that don’t mean much. It’s all Madison in round three as she expertly uses her reach to get Abigail in the corner.

The blonde in trouble now. She’s keeping her guard up high, but that can only do so much while Beer viciously pounds away at the body. Madison realizes she doesn’t need to go head hunting. She fires off two brutal right uppercuts to Abigail’s side and the blonde falls to her knees. The blonde is clutching her stomach, panting heavily. She looks to her corner who tells her she doesn’t have enough time to stay down. She needs to get up.

After a few more agonizing breaths, Abigail finally stands only to be walloped with a one-two to the jaw by Madison. Mercifully for the smaller fighter the round ends.

Beer up 29-27.

R4:

Madison can feel it. She’s on the cusp of breaking her opponent. She just needs to keep the pressure on. She comes out aggressive, but not to the point where she lets Abigail get in close. Instead she dances around, uses her reach to frazzle her clearly frustrated opponent.

Breslin really reaching now, throwing huge hooks that are nowhere close to landing. All the while Beer is dancing away and firing off beautiful combos to Abigail’s exposed jawline. The blonde’s head snaps back often throughout the round, and even though she’s able to land a few of her own strikes here and there, it’s Madison who controls all of the major action to the round.

A late flurry between the two ends with a left cross that almost lays Abigail flat on the canvas once more, but she catches herself on the ropes as the bell rings. The blonde stumbles back to her corner, jaw hanging, chest heaving, and eyes wide in bewilderment.

Beer leads 39-36.

R5:

After a stern lecture from Claire Danes in the Free Punchers corner, Abigail comes out with a much different demeanor. She waits for Madison to get close. Even eating a few jabs and a cross in the process. But then Abigail is able to step in and negate Beer’s reach.

She lives in Madison’s left hip for the remainder of the round. Not backing off when Madison tires to throw a flurry of punches, but instead firing right back at her. She wallops Beer’s midsection and it’s clear that Claire’s instructions are being heeded to the fullest.

A brutal couple of right uppercuts to the ribs. A duck, an uppercut to the left ribs. Guard up. Counter with a one-two combo. Stick, move, slide back in, live on the hip. Negate the reach advantage. More uppercuts to the ribs. Guard drops. Right to the chin. Madison stumbling backwards. Abigail stays on the hip.

For the rest of the round Madison cannot seem to get any space as the annoying buzzing bee Abigail Breslin has made up tons of ground in this fight, wearing down Madison’s midsection by the end of round five.

Beer leads 48-46.

R6:

Madison cannot believe how well Abigail is sticking to her hip. And the blonde is taking punishment too. But Abigail is basically telling Madison she believes she can take more damage than her. And that’s put to the test as the clock bleeds into the second minute of the fight.

A brutal right to Abigail’s cheek. But she follows it up with an uppercut to the abdomen. Madison tries to go left-right-left but Breslin blocks it. She counters with an upeprcut. Madison is hurt!!! She stumbles back. Breslin is all over her. She knocks the brunette down with a huge right hook. Beer is spun around as she lands with a deafening THUD to the canvas!

The ref rushes over. Madison barely even stirring as the ten count is issued.

WINNER VIA ROUND 6 KO: ABIGAIL BRESLIN

Post-Fight:

“That’s the most frustrating kind of fight,” says Madison. “The one where you can’t put someone away. She showed tons of heart tonight and eventually I just couldn’t use my reach against her. If she’s able to negate that and stay inside on girls… man she’s going to be tough to beat.”

“A win always feels great,” says Abigail. “Getting knocked down is less great, but you know. She’s a tough one. So athletic and smooth. But I knew when it came down to it she could knock me down, but not out. So I was okay taking punishment on the inside against her. Claire told me to ‘stay in her f’ing pocket the rest of the fight,’ so I did. She sees so much in the ring and that’s the kind of coaching that I think will really raise my game going forward.”
