Vannessa Hudgens vs. Zoe Kravitz

(Results: Lookout! Words: Wiz)

BEFORE:

Interesting matchup of quick, athletic flyweights with vastly different degrees of FCBA experience. Hudgens, of course, is a Hall of Famer with more than 125 career fights. Kravitz, who is actually 13 days OLDER than Vanessa has...two. But, if giving away all that experience bothers Zoe, well, she's not letting it show in the pre-fight. "Sure, she's been around the FCBA a LOT longer than me," says Kravitz. "But, that just means her body has a LOT of miles on it. Me? I'm lightly raced. And, I'm going to blow right PAST Vanessa in the stretch."

"Funny that Zoe used the word 'stretch'," says a hard-eyed Vanessa. "Because it's a ridiculous stretch to believe she has ANY chance to beat ME. And, Zoe IS going to end up 'stretched out' at my feet by the time I'm finished with her."

ROUND ONE:

Ladies ranging around the ring. Hudgens circling, jabbing, but Kravitz isn't stalking, she's doing plenty of moving of her own. Result is an action-filled round with...um...not a lot of action. There's plenty to see here, as both fighters are busy...with their feet. But, there's not a lot of punching, simply because, with the wide ranging movement going on, lots of time is used up as the two brunettes try to get to spots where they can punch. Virtually every inch of the ring is used in the opening stanza, as the fighters probe, moving head, hands, and, especially feet, but nobody's getting much offense going. Final seconds see a sustained exchange, one of the few of the round, and no one really gains an advantage. When the bell rings, it's close, but it's Kravitz, and Zoe grabs the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

And now 'Nessa takes over. The veteran has done all the recon she needs to do, and, now, she's putting the information she's gathered to use. She's beating Kravitz to spots, beating her to punches, and beating her up. Zoe able to get off here and there, landing some good punches when she does, but, most of the time, she's covering up as 'Nessa gets off flurry after flurry of hard shot, snapping the older woman's head back repeatedly. Kravitz is never hurt, but the points and punishment are piling up as Hudgens is firing away at every opportunity. This is an extraordinarily busy round, even for a fighter who's usually very busy like Vanessa, and it all adds up in a major way. When the bell finally rings, 'Nessa's taken the points wide, Kravitz is looking more than a little scuffed, and we're even at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Hudgens in control, tossing flurry after flurry at Kravitz. Zoe trying to fire back, and managing to do so in spots, but 'Nessa's getting much the better of things and SHE ROCKS KRAVITZ WITH A RIGHT HAND! Zoe wobbles, ties 'Nessa up and HUDGENS DROPS HER WITH A RIGHT HOOK! Kravitz down on her right side, quickly pushes to hands and knees and gets back to her feet at six. Ref gives her the mandatory and waves on 'Nessa. Hudgens a BUZZ SAW as she tears into the older brunette, driving her back into the ropes and giving her a pounding. Ref looking in closely as Vanessa empties the magazines looking to finish this thing, but, despite her FCBA inexperience, Kravitz hangs on, doing just enough to keep the ref at bay to the bell. When it rings, 'Nessa's grabbed a 10-8 round and taken a 29-27 lead.

ROUND FOUR:

'Nessa looking punched out early. She's moving the feet, but not coming forward, not looking to follow up on the big third round. Zoe notices. Kravitz, having shaken the worst of the damage, goes over to the offensive and begins landing some nice combinations on the Hall of Famer. All of a sudden, Hudgens is in retreat, taking all kinds of fire and throwing return shot only in spots. Zoe building confidence and points as the round goes on. The younger brunette isn't ever hurt, but it's clear she's taking the worst of things, and she either can't or won't do enough offensively to turn things around. Final thirty seconds sees Kravitz pour on the fire, making absolutely sure of the points. When the bell rings, there's no question that Zoe has taken it wide and cut 'Nessa's lead to 38-37.

ROUND FIVE:

Kravitz aggressive again early, but now 'Nessa's throwing back, giving every bit as good as she gets in sharp exchanges in the middle of the ring. Both fighters moving and moving well, using the feet to get to spots or OUT of spots, to either set up punches or avoid them. It's excellent two-way stuff until it isn't. BOOM! Straight right, 'NESSA and Zoe is HURT. Kravitz stumbles back into the ropes and Hudgens again lets the hands go in a BIG way. BOOMING right hand snaps back Zoe's head and she NOSES IN AT HUDGENS' FEET! 'Nessa raises her arms in victory and takes her time getting to a neutral corner. Kravitz not moving at all, and it's clear the referee's count is a mere formality. When it reaches ten, Hudgens blows off her glove, smiling. It's OVER! And your winner by KO5 is Vanessa Hudgens!

AFTER:

'Nessa dismissive in the post-fight. "Nowhere NEAR my league," the Hall of Famer says. "I let her HAVE a round so I could rest up the arms to finish her. I knew I had her from the opening thirty seconds. It was just a matter of when I decided it was over. Because, when I wanted to finish her, that's exactly what I did."
