Amy Willerton                                                                        Ana Beatriz Barros

(29, 5’9, 4-1 FCBA, League of Mighty Women

                                                                                                39, 5’11, 6-8 FCBA, Fates Boxing

Pre-Fight: League of Mighty Women’s Amy Willerton will be back in action for the first time since she got a second term of residency with her stable as she faces Fates Boxing’s Ana Beatriz Barros. Amy will be motivated to start her second term with a win, while Ana will be looking to bounce back from an unfortunate defeat. This will be the second match in a row that Amy fights at welterweight, so we will see if she is getting comfortable at this weight division, but Ana will make sure that she isn’t getting too comfortable as she will be looking to use her height and reach advantage.

Amy goes first to start things off in the pre-fight press conference. “I respect Ana as a model, but she isn’t really scary as a fighter. She had a late start anyway and she is getting too old without much to show for her boxing career. She has the reach advantage, but I already beat a better fighter with that same advantage last time, so I think I can handle Ana easily and prove that I deserve my spot in the roster.”

The Brazilian doesn’t seem either pleased or impressed with the Brit’s words as she speaks her mind. “I don’t know who she thinks she is, but I have been in the modelling business for a long time and I haven’t even heard of her. I don’t think she will fare any better in the FCBA either. Looks like she just got a lucky streak with her new stable, but I will bring her back down to cold, hard reality.” The press conference ends with an intense stare down between the two.

Amy enters the arena first on the fight night with her coach, Ali Landry, beside her. She looks relaxed as she waves and blows kisses to the cheering crowd. After entering the ring, she starts shadow boxing while listening to Ali’s instructions.

She is wearing a light pink bikini set with white gloves and shoes, while her hair is tied into a ponytail.

Ana Beatriz comes out next with a confident look on her face. She acknowledges the fans cheering for her with a wave and then heads straight to the ring looking all business.

She is wearing a green bikini set with yellow gloves and shoes, while her hair is tied up in a bun.

Both fighters come to the center of the ring to receive final instructions from the referee and then they touch gloves, but they are giving each other a cold stare as they do so. We are now ready for 10 rounds of welterweight action!

Fight: Round 1: Amy steps forward with the bell as she seems to be eager to engage in an exchange right away, but the Brazilian maintains her distance with a defensive jab, not willing to lose her reach advantage at the start. Ana seems happy with having a defensive approach for now as she finds success with her jabs and slows down the pace. The Brit seems willing to increase the pace and engage in short-range exchanges, but she is having a hard time going past the Brazilian’s defense.

Amy finally finds her way in as we enter the last minute of the first round thanks to a lazy jab attempt by the Brazilian. She explodes with a barrage of shovel hooks to the body, clearly waiting for this moment since the start of the match. This inside exchange forces Ana to clinch with her opponent. After a moment, the referee separates them and Ana Beatriz makes sure that she keeps Amy away for the final few seconds of the round.

Ana dictated the pace early on and seemed to be in control, but that final exchange helped Amy to still the round on points, but it was a close opening round.

Round 2: Ana's game plan worked for the most part in the opening round, so she is sticking with it, using her reach to keep her opponent at bay. As the round progresses Amy seems to be getting frustrated with having to deal with her opponent’s defensive jab and the lack of action, so she starts to force the issue a bit. However, the Brazilian sees this coming and doubles on her jab and then follows with a straight that forces the Brit to retreat. Ana lands another one-two combo, but she isn’t willing to chase her opponent any further and keeps her distance.

After her failed attempt, Amy decides to fight smarter as well, realizing that she can’t just force her way inside. This leads to a slower pace for the rest of the round, as they engage in a couple of short exchanges from the outside with both fighters landing some punches, but nothing significant. Ana’s game plan pays out for her in this round as she wins it on points to tie things up on the scorecards. In between the rounds, Ali tells her fighter to look for opportunities to cut the angles, instead of trying to force her way in.

Round 3: Instead of her more direct approach, Amy starts this round by circling around Ana, looking for an opening and trying to cut angles to get her opponent cornered. The Brazilian model is well aware of that, so she moves around carefully to not get stuck. They circle around the ring as they both score occasionally with either single jabs or one-two combinations. However, Amy finds the opening she is looking for in the second minute of the round as she cuts the angle to trap her opponent towards the corner and slips under her jab to get inside. She lands two hooks to the ribs and then hits an uppercut to the solar plexus that causes Ana to clinch immediately.

After getting separated by the referee, Amy goes right back to business, not willing to give Ana any recovery time. She lands a few more body shots and Ana clinches with her once again. Before the referee intervenes, Ana gives Amy a little shove this time and then lands a one to combination up top, which lets her get out of the corner and put some space between the two.

Periods of offense for both fighters in this one, but Amy’s patience is rewarded as those inside exchanges give her the edge to win the round on points. She is ahead on the scorecards once again, but it is still anyone’s game.

Round 4: Ana is making some adjustments to her game plan as well. She is still being careful about keeping her distance, but she seems to be looking for more attacking opportunities now as she moves in and out of range to land some short combinations or even engage in short exchanges. Amy is holding her ground in these exchanges, but Ana is getting in the clearer shots from the range. The Brazilian engages again with a one-two combo. The Brit answers with a straight of her own, but eats a big hook right after. Ana follows up with a double jab to push Amy back and then throws a big right hook, but misses as Amy ducks and lands a shovel hook to the body instead. She goes up top with an uppercut, but her one-two combo is blocked as Ana recovers and closes her guard in time. Before Amy can target her body again, Ana lands a straight followed by a left hook that drives the Brit back towards the ropes. Another hook to the chin and Amy is the one going for a clinch this time as she seems a bit hurt after those shots.

After the referee breaks the clinch, the rest of the round passes with shorter exchanges. It has been a close affair with back and forth round wins as Ana Beatriz once again ties things up on the scorecards. Things are now heating up with the increased pace and action, so the momentum can change swiftly in these circumstances.

Round 5: Ana Beatriz looks confident after that last round, so she is on the attack early on, but she is still not over-committing with her advances. Amy is circling a bit more this round, looking for those angles to cut as her coach reminded her about that during the break again. Ana controls the action in the first minute with jabs and one-two combinations.

Ana engages with another one-two combination as we enter the second minute, but Amy slips under the straight and goes for the ribs with a big left hook. Ana winces and steps back as she throws a defensive jab, but Amy rotates to her left and lands another left hook, but this time to the jaw. Ana puts her guard up to block the follow-up straight, but it leaves her body open, so the Brit goes down once again with a right hook to the ribs and a lead uppercut to the solar plexus. Ana drops her guard after that last shot and Amy capitalizes on it immediately with two massive hooks right on the chin and the Brazilian goes down! Amy heads to the neutral corner right away as the referee starts counting. 1…2…3… Ana is still lying on her back 4…5… she rolls over and tries to push herself off the mat 6…7…8… she is on all fours now, looking for one last push to get up 9…10 she cannot find that last bit energy to get up on her feet, so she is counted out!

Official Result: Winner via KO in round 5, Amy Willerton!

Post-Fight: Amy raises her fists in celebration with a confident look on her face. Ali comes into the ring to congratulate her fighter, while on the other side medical staff checks up on Ana and helps her get back to her feet. After a quick evaluation, Ana gets the thumbs up and she goes over to her corner to recollect herself before leaving the ring.

After getting her hand raised by the referee, Amy picks up the microphone to give her post-fight comments in the ring. “She came here with a game plan and she stuck to it, which made things a bit harder for me, I’ll give her that. She should stick with coaching though, because once I went into high gear, she just couldn’t keep up with me. I’m picking up wins and going up the rankings, so I’m pretty sure I deserve my spot in the roster!”

Another good win for Amy and it is hard to argue with her statement as she won her second welterweight fight in a row and improved to five wins in six fights in her time with the LMW. She still needs to prove if she can handle herself against elite competition though. As for Ana, her tactical approach shows that she is well-suited for her coaching job, but her fighting record is still in decline.
