Robyn Lawley v Charlotte Flair

Two of the real big girls of the welterweight division locking horns and looking to claw their way into that top ten in the division (Is there a top ten? top eight? Top seven?). Flair, an independent having a less than stellar year, has to take fights where she can so she signs to face “Godzilla”. Flair herself a big woman but that is a relative term when you are facing the 6’2” Lawley.

Fight Night

Flair walking out to the rising strains of Also Sprach Zarathustra, appearing every inch the “Queen” she bills herself as (though juuuuuuuust possible Kate Upton might have something to say about that!). Then the roar made famous by Toho studios - and here comes Godzilla - Robyn Lawley accompanied by Scrubby McGee of Sceej boxing. Referee’s instructions and Charlotte in the unfamiliar stance of trying to intimidate by hard glare but having to look up at opponent!

Round 1: Flair using experience and speed, jabbing with the big girl, circling, not letting her set her feet. Utilizing oddly timed rushes to get in, score the odd left or right to body, then Lawley clinches - and the Queen stunned by sheer strength of this amazon as she is controlled and pushed off with two handed thrust. Lawley throws big overhand right but Flair able to slip the shot and slide off to side, lands cuffing right of her own. Latter part of round settles into cautious trade of jabs … Flair scoring more but Robyn with heavier hands. Round to Flair - scored cleaner shots and more of them.

Round 2: Scrubby snarling at Lawley in corner, “Ya feel like fightin’ yet? Or ya just gonna walk aroun’ like its one a dem damn runaways yer used to paradin’ on?” - pricking the huge woman’s pride. Lawley out of corner and wings overhand right that spooks the wrestler, then latches on and forces her back into corner - Charlotte trying to hold canvas but even her strong legs no match for Godzilla. Backed into ropes, the giant begins buffeting her with thumping club like punches. Charlotte with dukes up in guard but sheer impact rattling her. Charlotte tries to spin out but bodied back to ropes and the thumping continues. Finally, Lawley with hook to the head, the Queen slips it, lands a cuffing right and gets out of the corner. On her toes in retreat for final thirty seconds of round, which goes to Rockin’ Robyn - big!

Round 3: Flair’s champion heart is pricked by the bullying of the previous round and she surprises the big girl by going right at her! Cracks Lawley with hard right hand lead to the jaw, follows up with left hooks - ribs then temple. Lawley firing back with both hands but Flair snakes neck back to avoid the right. Robyn fighting back off the ropes, but the Queen using hand speed to get better of the exchanges. Late in the round, Flair slips an overhand right and rings the big girl up with an inside uppercut with the left, that sags Lawley’s knees and has her clinching at the bell. Big round for the Queen!

Round 4: Flair out of corner hot again, looking to press advantage, and walks into that long slingshot right hand. “Godzilla” gets her back into one and Flair is reeling - head alert but unable to communicate with legs! Lawley with sweeping left hook to the chin and the Queen goes DOWN! Flair blasted to her back … arms stretched above head as referee walks Lawley to neutral corner. Back to pick up the count … Flair roles on side … propping up on one arm … struggling to rise but not gonna happen!

Winner by knockout in the fourth round … they call her “Godzilla” … Robyn Lawley!
