Pre-Fight:

Abigail, when asked about her preparation for Maisie, “Yeah well it’s a little tough because we have I think only two common opponents. She beat Madison Beer twice, I beat her once. She lost to Chloe Moretz, I beat Chloe. So we looked at those fights really hard and I think we’ve come up with a solid gameplan. She’s a tough one, you know?”

Maisie, when asked about an opportunity to win five straight, “It’s much needed. I’ve had some ups and downs in my career, but I feel like I’m coming into my own. Now, I know Abigail has been on a roll but… it just feels like it’s my night.”

R1:

The blonde and brunette come out to the middle of the ring and exchange some complimentary light punches early. Nothing too spectacular, but the normal amount of fast-paced jabs the flyweight division is known for. Each fighter’s guard stays tight, they both look to be pretty flexible and moving well. They circle around each other, trading off shots. Some hitting, some missing, some only connecting with gloves or forearms.

It only takes one small mistake on Abigail’s end to give Maisie a window late into the first round. A poorly telegraphed right-hand that Maisie saw a mile away lets the Brit side-step it and fire off a quick couple of jabs that send Abigail back a few steps. It’s not much, but as the round comes to a close it’s enough to give Maisie the nod in a very very close round.

Williams up 10-9.

R2:

Abigail, not to be outdone, comes out a little more aggressive in round two. She finds her jab early and continues to walk down Maisie. The brunette counters fairly well early-on, but it only takes one heavy right hand to connect with her nose before she gets spooked and goes full defense mode. Big mistake.

Thriving on her opponent’s hesitancy, Abigail begins to work up and down on Maisie. She knocks her around a bit up top, though Williams does a nice job of keeping her guard tight, and then begins sinking heavy blows into the body. Maisie skirts around the ropes and finds a land to escape, but eats a right to the nose again as she tries to flee.

With the Girls Friday lightweight looking a little stunned, Abigail fires off a nice left hook that snaps her head to the side right before the bell rings. Breslin definitely tied it up with a really solid round two.

19-19 all.

R3:

As Breslin tries to recapture her rhythm from the previous round, Williams tries to retaliate.

She hits Abigail with a big right hand to the gut, causing the blonde to bend. Then she hits her with a left that leaves Abigail’s jaw hanging low. As the blonde tries to retreat, Maisie comes in with more power. Right hook that snaps Abigail’s head the other way. Then a few jabs to push her backwards. Maisie blocks a few quick jabs from Abigail, and counters with an uppercut that leaves Breslin reeling…

As Abigail hits the ropes, she covers up and lets Maisie pound away as she likes. She refuses to drop her guard though, knowing the brunette could drop her if she does. Instead she opts to take the beating. And Maisie delivers one hell of a beating. She pounds away at Abigail’s midsection until the round comes to a close. A very impressive round for Maisie puts her back on top.

29-28 Williams.

R4:

With tons of confidence carrying her, Maisie comes out and moves well doing so. She bounces around, keeps her hands up, and keeps landing some nice combos. Abigail can feel her guard starting to get compromised. Maisie might be small like her, but she sure does hit hard.

Breslin finds herself getting walked back again early in the fourth round. Maisie’s hands just flying at her and not giving her any room to escape. She lands an uppercut on Breslin’s chin and once more the blonde is simply on the ropes taking a pounding. Abigail smartly gets into a clinch though and is able to walk herself away from the ropes. She steps back and ducks a left hook from Maisie and launches a nice right hand into her ribs.

Williams felt that one.

Breslin’s power is on full display now as she rocks Maisie with a follow-up left uppercut. Williams on her heels. She’s panicking. She throws a wild left to try to keep Abigail off of her, but Breslin sees it coming a mile away. She side-steps it and throws a right cross that lands on Maisie’s cheek. Williams is backed into a corner. Now it’s Abigail’s time to deliver a beatdown. Rights and lefts cut through Maisie’s defense, leaving her arms dangling by the end of the round. The bell rings, saving Maisie from a knockdown. But Abigail feels like that was the turning point as she walks back to her corner.

38-38.

R5:

Maisie needs to find some footing and fast. But instead she gets a few more quick-fire jabs from Abigail instead that knocks her off course. Breslin circles her opponent now, jabs flying in furiously. Maisie can only block about of half of them. She fires back, landing an uppercut, but then Abigail knocks her back with one as well.

Abigail throws a left that nails Maisie square in the nose and it dazes her! Her knees buckle and Breslin’s right fist splits the guard of Williams, connecting at the bottom of her chin and Maisie drops!

She’s splayed out on her back, her mouth-guard hanging out of the side of her mouth. She rolls over, breathing heavily, and tries to pick herself up. She sluggishly gets up just as the ref gets to eight. Abigail comes back firing off jab, jab, jab. She effortlessly blocks Maisie’s attempts to counter. Then she rocks her back and forth with alternating hooks. Williams is on the ropes. Abigail gets her with a right hand. Her guard drops. Shoulders slumped backwards. She’s just getting walloped as Abigail lands blows to her cheeks back and forth. The ref rushes in and waves off the fight!

WINNER IN ROUND 5 VIA TKO: ABIGAIL BRESLIN

Post-Fight:

“Yeah, really proud of that fight,” Abigail says. “I thought I was moving really well, I found a new weapon with my jab, and in the end I was a bit too much for Maisie. I feel really good about where my game is going moving forward. There are some girls I’d love to get in the ring with… not sure if Chloe would want a rematch, but I’m game. Also we know how I feel about Eilish and Winter. Those two are welcome in the ring with me anytime. But for now, I’m just going to enjoy a really solid victory!”

“I just got beat,” Maisie says. “You know when you look back on it, I really liked my work in round 3. But one good round against someone like Abigail isn’t going to be enough. So the winning streak ends here, but that just means I get to start another one my next time in the ring.”
